Marsa Shagra Village

We stayed at Marsa Shagra Village in December and had an absolutely wonderful experience. We stayed in one of the newest sea-facing nano rooms, and waking up every morning to the sound and view of the Red Sea was truly incredible. A nice oasis coming from Cairo. The daily buffet was excellent, with a great variety and consistently delicious food. A special shout-out to Aladdin, who always took such great care of us and made every meal feel welcoming and enjoyable. The diving experience was outstanding. Our dive master, Ben, was professional, attentive, and always looking out for our safety and enjoyment. Ali at the Dive centre is always smiling and helpful, especially with carrying our tanks to the boat and shore. My partner has a knee injury and couldn’t carry heavy equipment and Ali made a huge difference by lending a hand everytime

Amazing place. Staff are all helpful and friendly from housekeeping to waiters to dive staff. The whole resort is clean and tidy at all times.|The dive equipment I hired was good quality and in good condition. The diving staff were great when I needed help lifting or carrying anything.|There is no music or bright lights, the place has a tranquility about it which I love. A very relaxed vibe which was most enjoyable.|The food oh my goodness for the food, as a vegan I often have issues having a choice of things to eat, not so here, there was so much choice I couldn’t try everything. The soups were delicious and the variety of salads and hot food every day was wonderful, I would return just for the food experience.|We had a deluxe chalet and it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. ||The only small criticism is there is nowhere to relax with sofas or such like. So if you didn’t want to be sitting at a table in chairs there was nowhere else to go but I. The scheme of things not that important.||We will definitely return

It was our first visit and it impeccable experience. Already started at the check in where the team clarified a misunderstanding, which ended up working better in our favor, I knew this a place that works in the highest standards. Everything, from the staff, room, food, cleanness, the diving and snorkeling activities was perfect. The kitchen staff went out of their way to provide special food items and desserts for my partner who is vegan (the buffet itself always included large selection of vegan options). Would definitely come back

This is a diving site, house reef is dying unforutnatey because of the warmer sea. You should go to Elphiston or the other sites 20-30 minutes with the boat. There are so many good dive guide but maybe Virág was the best, she is a good sign to have a really good dive. I also had freediving training with Kareem, He is really prepared and we had really good session. Food was good and wide selection and the rooms are okay.

Marsa Shagra Village is truly heaven on earth for divers and snorkelers! This eco-resort is perfect for solo travelers, couples, and groups, offering a friendly atmosphere that makes it easy to connect with fellow adventurers. The facilities are top-notch—clean, organized, and accommodating up to 200 guests without feeling crowded. I highly recommend the Royal Tent for a unique experience; temperatures cool down at night, making it comfortable without air conditioning (I went in April & July). The all-inclusive buffet 3x/day features delicious local and Western cuisine, with special Egyptian evenings twice a week. You can dive at the house reef anytime with your buddy or book excursions to explore stunning dive spots. The diving instructors are experienced, can serve you in many languages and prioritize safety. The quality of the boats and gear is excellent. Every dive is special and you will guarantee see lots of special marine life. This was my second visit in 10 months, and I can't wait to return! So many people return to this place. Highly recommend Marsa Shagra Village for an unforgettable getaway!

Outstanding resort! Love the eco village concept. The staff here are exceptional- Mohamed at reception was incredible, he helped us locate our luggage that our airline lost, he went above and beyond to track it down and collect it from the airport, we are so grateful to him for this! The chefs are brilliant, food was always fab, and the pastry chef even asked my partner his favourite puddings and made these for him. Everything was very clean, we loved the royal tent and staff were very kind to carry our luggage to it, even in the heat. Diving here is amazing, we loved the house reef, diving four times a day here for a week and never got bored of it! We saw turtles pretty much every dive and even a dolphin. Very cute dogs and a cat who live at the resort too!

No words can describe the days we spent at Marsa Shagra. Everything was excellent. The diving facilities are impeccable; they provide everything, and the entire team is very concerned about your safety during dives, monitoring your entry and exit times from the water. The infrastructure for lockers and dive gear cleaning is also very good, and they offer unlimited dives. The tents are super comfortable, spacious, and charming, with high-quality linens. Everything is very charming by the beach, with chairs outside to enjoy the moonlight and watch the sunrise. The restaurant is a show in itself; the food is wonderful! Special mention to Chef Shaban, who was very attentive to us, and the lovely waiter Mo Salah and everyone else who makes sure you feel very special. The diving center is also excellent, fully automated; we got our AOWC there with Alaa, who was also very kind and attentive to us.||The negatives are that the internet is not included and must be paid separately, and it was not clear in our reservation that the bathrooms were outside the tents. However, this was not an issue as the shared bathrooms were very clean and rarely occupied. Also, be specific about the type of bed you want because we were a couple, and the room available when we arrived had two single beds. Later, when I asked, there was another room available, but it was far from the bathroom. This should have been confirmed upon our arrival. They could also offer more amenities for the price; there was only liquid soap on the wall, but they could also provide shampoo and conditioner. Be prepared for prices that are higher than the standard in Egypt; everything there is quite expensive, including laundry service and airport taxi, which do not follow the typical lower prices in Egypt. However, these points are not criticisms, just recommendations to make the hotel even better. Everything was very good, and I would stay there a thousand more times if possible.

This was my third stay in Shagra and although it has grown considerably since my first visit there in 2014, it still retains that original vibe that is just pure friendliness, laughter and joy. You get to talk to strangers just as easily as you get friendly with the incredible staff which goes out of their way to please you and make your stay as comfortable as possible. A big thank you and shout-out to the whole crowd. ||Compared to 10 years ago, the house reef has clearly suffered and there could always be more efforts made to protect it (like making people use reef-safe sunscreen) but all in all snorkeling and diving there remains exciting. ||A word of caution if you're thinking of bringing your drone. Don't. They're not allowed for tourists in Egypt and will be most likely be detected at Marsa Alam Airport, then kept in custom's storage and released to you for a moderate fee IF your return flight departs from the same airport you arrived at. You can thank me later ;-)
