We had a really wonderful stay at the Marshall Slocum Inn this November! The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and extremely comfortable. The location was perfect with easy walking distance to Newport harbour as well as the bars & restaurants on the way. The staff were really welcoming and helpful making the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Newport and we'd love to come back one day!

Cute little B&B in Newport. We had a wonderful stay and the hosts are very welcoming and make you feel at home. The sweet homemade breakfast is also very good, especially the crossaints are so delicious. The B&B is close to the city center and you can easily walk to the port and restaurants. The whole atmosphere is just incredible.

The inn is in a great location (about 8 mins walk from the town centre with bars/restaurants etc) and is situated in a lovely peaceful leafy neighbourhood. We arrived after dark and found the instructions for entering our room had been left out for us, which were nice and easy. The room itself was absolutely beautiful, clean, cosy, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. We felt that the hosts had thought of everything to create a nice experience for guests, and we would have loved to stay a bit longer. It was a nice start to our holiday through New England, and I highly recommend this beautiful inn!

When we arrived, travel weary, Dana’s gracious welcome instantly put us at ease. The coffee/tea, the croissants, and the assortment of pastry every morning was a delightful start to our day. And the small but significant courtesies, like the complimentary jellied candy nook provided a tasty temptation in the evenings. Our bed was comfortable. Our room and bath were nicely decorated, clean, and well equipped with everything we would need. We were pleasantly surprised that The Marshall Slocum Inn was so ideally situated, and within a short walk of one of Newport’s main streets, affording us the opportunity to take the free Newport trolley to the mansions and other attractions. And with a bit more effort, we were able to walk to the shops and restaurants in Thames Street. The Marshall Slocum House is located on a quiet street, which we thoroughly appreciated after a full day of exploring. We’d highly recommend the Marshall Slocum Inn. It helped to make our trip to Newport truly lovely.

We stayed here for a visit to Newport and the location of the Marshall Slocum is excellent. Walk down the hill to the harbour, or turn left and its a 2 mile walk to the Cliff Walk and the mansions.|We were in the Cottage in the grounds, which was well equipped and roomy enough for the stay.|Buffet breakfast was just right, with fruit, yogurts, tea, coffee and delicious pastries.|The owners were on hand and very helpful with guidance and local travel info.|Outdoor covered sitting area for the evenings and lounges, communal dining table (mainly used at breakfast).|Absolutely perfect for Newport and as a boutique hotel, is better priced than the larger ones further along the road. The Marshall Slocum is situated amongst the historic (Victorian) houses in town, so not only convenient tto move around, but also in a pretty part of Newport.

Google
We were warmly welcomed by Mark the owner on our arrival, provided with some local information and shown to our room. The room was set up very nicely and suited the style of hotel - a very traditional 19c building in a great location to explore the historic side of town. Compared with the other prices of hotels used during our trip in New England this was very reasonably priced, for a comfortable room with a great shower.|It was a pleasant change staying in a character property in a beautiful part of town.|It was easy to walk into the historic district and the free trolley bus service is just a 45 minute walk from the Inn.|If we ever go back to the area we would certain stay here again.

My wife and I took a two-night three-day trip from our home on Martha's Vineyard to the Marshall Slocum Inn in Newport to celebrate my 75th birthday. We ate out, walked Fort Adams State Park, toured The Breakers, and always came back to our comfortable room at the Marshall Slocum Inn. I highly recommend it.

This is a beautiful home on a street lined with lovely old Federal-style and Victorian houses. The inn is in a great location, walkable to many points of interest in Newport. Mark is an accommodating and gracious host. Would definitely choose the inn again on our next visit to Newport.

Yelp
Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Newport! Cute, cozy, clean. The pictures speak for themselves! Owner is friendly and informative. Can't wait to return!

Jacklyn B.

Yelp
Very happy with our recent stay. Our room was upgraded to a king bed and slightly bigger room which was nice! All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. But the biggest thing for me was how clean our room was! We stayed at another hotel two days prior that was more expensive and there was no comparison to this inn. My husband and I are not ones to stay at the same place twice, as we like to try new places but I already hope to stay here again next summer!

Yelp
- Delicious breakfast - easy parking and check in instructions - Host is nice, and helpful - Place is immaculately clean - Strong WiFi - The Library was my favorite room (We got to choose from the unoccupied rooms) - Very centrally located, it's a less than ten minute drive from everything, and if you're bad, its less than an hour walk - The fridge is kind of small though, if you have a lot of leftovers - Rooms are inexpensive

Laura D.

Yelp
Great place to stay. We enjoyed our room and the spiral staircase to the bathroom. The owner was very nice. We thought the candy dispensers were a great touch too.

Brenda T.

Yelp
Charming Old world Bed and Breakfast. We had two rooms. Both very comfortable. Beds and linens comfy. Easy access to downtown Newport. Close to Mansion Tours and Ocean Drive.

Annie T.

Yelp
We enjoyed staying at the Marshall Slocum Inn back in march. Easy contactless check-in. We were given specific instructions on how to park and enter the house and where our room was located. The library was a gorgeous room, good size and very cozy. Our bed was very comfortable. Large modern bathroom. We were able to utilize an iPad to watch Netflix and Hulu. The internet was a bit spotty, but it worked well overall. The breakfast was satisfying and delicious. Don't forget to request a side of sausage with your dish!

Yelp
The Snuggery Room has a spiral staircase. Just saying. In a Newport awash with B&Bs, colonial inns and romantic hideaways, Marshall Slocum will give you pause when leaving to explore that Cliff Walk. Ample parking in a serene backyard setting, set against a rear patio, partially shaded and entirely awaiting a supremely crafted breakfast. Coffee and tea out 24/7, pastries served in the afternoon and bikes available to rent. Lemon poppy cake, get in my belly. Check in is a breeze, and our room - the aforementioned Snuggery - was indeed snug, spotless, stocked with fresh linens and stacked with a gaggle of sites to see in the area. All bulbs worked. The bed? So comfortable, although Kara claimed a dip in the middle. Up the corkscrew, a private bathroom with ample water pressure made me actually want to take a shower. Cavemen don't want showers! Did I mention the breakfast? Pictures below - my eggs were perfectly cooked, and the fruit melange is a piece of art. Instagram that shizz, son; you know you want to. Prices are jaw-dropping considering what you pay at the larger spots down the road, and everything worth seeing is still only a short hop away. Yelp app bonus: a free half-day bike rental for two, just for checking in! Arguably one of the finer surprises, so much so one of the staffers didn't know about it. If you go here, stay here. Grand for a night or two; any more than that and you'll probably want to move in.

Lindsey R.

Yelp
Fantastic location, comfortable and clean rooms, welcoming space. Walkable to everything. Super charming spot but with updated bathrooms. One thing to note - past reviews talk about a hot breakfast but that is no longer. They have some items available for purchase, and have free coffee/tea/etc.

IGoodEatz B.

Yelp
Very very clean! Bedding was great we got a greats night sleep. Lots of natural sunlight. Very quiet and quaint it is about a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the downtown area but you could always uber. We stayed in the Colvin room. There is a tub but it is not a soaking one. Nice getaway for a one night away.

Victoria V.

Yelp
We spent a lovely night in the room with the fireplace! Hosts were amazing and super accommodating! Room clean and cosy! Walking distance to everywhere. Coffee and pastries for breakfast were delicious. Totally recommend all around!

Yelp
We just stayed here last weekend for the second time and I have to say this place really is lovely. It's clean, homey, perfectly located and most importantly the vibe is relaxed and friendly. I believe Mark is the owner/ manager and he is truly genuine and kind - it's that simple.

Franklin B.

Yelp
Really cute spot. Host is really nice as well. Perfect location, clean bedroom and common space. Breakfast in the morning was filling and delicious. Next time we are in Newport we will be reserving a room here.

Yelp
Originally booked our Sunday-Wednesday stay several months back for a mini honeymoon. The reveiws of the breakfast and steady high acclaim is what made me choose Marshall Slocum over others. I cannot agree more that this was the right choice and this should probably be 4.5 stars. So let's get the few minor issues if you can call them that out first. The wifi is slower than the 3G connection my phone was getting so netflix played but looked grainy. The noise carrys throughout when folks are in the halls (see pro's later tho) especially if your near the stairs and newport water smells like chemicals so bring water. The rooms- We stayed in the snuggery with the staircase and loved the concept of a bathroom upstairs. Something fun for a few days but I would probably not suggest doing it for more than that. This also left limited space downstairs. I would recommend looking at all the rooms and selecting something with proper storage for your things depending on the length of your stay. Since we just came from our wedding we had a lot of stuff so it was cramped til we sorted out our luggage. There are a lot of room options so theres something for everyone, besides how much time are you in the room anyways! your doing vacation all wrong if your there too much! The inn is decorated very well in the common spaces and makes you feel at home and not afarid to use them. You can relax in the dining room and perhaps eat some leftover cake or take your tea or coffee outside on the balcony. Chef and Host Mark Spring is excellent and deserves five stars. He can whip up a great selection of delicious food, book your sailing adventure or suggest a place to eat or lay in the sun. All while he stains the deck! Mark is basically the human Yelp of Newport. The Inn is also spotless and housekeeping comes through daily to make the beds and swap out towels. Walking to town is also easy once you pick the right road since everything is very accessible from kay st. If its too far for you then take one of the bikes but its simple enough and bellvue is right down the road as well where the tennis hall of fame is and just a little more is the mansions. Overall, A great stay in Newport and can't wait to return again!

Sierra T.

Yelp
We absolutely loved our stay at Marshall Slocum Inn! Historic charming building, it was the perfect place to experience Newport. The breakfast was amazing! Don't miss out on it! They also leave coffee/tea and cookies out downstairs in the dining room for whenever you need a treat! Our room was very cute and clean, check in and out was very easy, staff were super friendly, and location is a great spot to walk to everything! Highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Newport.

Yelp
This place was great! I have stayed in MANY nice places, so I can say this place definitely stacks up against any nice hotel I have been at. However, I want to address those, like myself, who never stayed at a "bed and breakfast" before. I pictured a Thunder Dome of shared bathrooms and shower shoes, laden with weird hippies and other horrible things. NOPE! This place was super nice, super clean, and super awesome. Honestly, it was even like they filled the place with nice guests just for us! I would ABSOLUTELY stay here again! And, the breakfast was absolutely, and I mean absolutely, awesome!

Anna K.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I traveled to Newport for a relaxing weekend getaway. We stayed in the Marshall Slocum inn for two nights and we absolutely loved it. We were welcomed by friendly staff that gave us helpful information and were easy to talk to. We stayed in the snuggery room and absolutely loved it. There is a spiral staircase in the room which leads to an updated bathroom. We walked around the other rooms and were glad to have picked this unique room. The breakfast was delicious. There is a reasonably sized sitting porch where you can enjoy your breakfast, read a book, and soak up the sun. The entire inn is kept very tidy and is decorated with lovely "inn like" items. They have a small shared refrigerator in the main room where you can store items if you need to. We were also pleasantly surprised to find an iPad for use in our room. Free wifi is provided. Overall, we recommended this well kept establishment for a weekend getaway. You will not be disappointed!

Alison W.

Yelp
We stayed in The Snuggery at the Marshall Slocum Inn. We loved our stay. The Inn is well kept and quiet. If you stay in this room, just know there is a small spiral staircase to get to the bathroom. We were fine with it and knew prior to booking, but it's a good heads up in case you have trouble with stairs. Mark and the staff were always willing to help. Breakfast is fabulous! I loved that there was a full menu for us to choose from. Coffee and tea is available all day, and it was lovely to have a cup of coffee out on the porch swing. The property is kept impeccably. Even with the fall season, there was always someone sweeping the leaves to keep the deck and porch clean. Being the age of the house, I was worried about noise, but the Inn is so quiet and peaceful. We are looking forward to returning! Thank you for an awesome stay.

Herman T.

Yelp
Clean rooms! No "smells". An owner who takes pride in their business. I rarely give out 5 stars and this place is justified to warrant it. They go above and beyond to make sure your stay is great! No false pretenses here. True authentic warm welcomes to everyone. Thank you for a wonderful reprieve from a very hard time in my life. I sincerely appreciate it.

Colleen C.

Yelp
Beautiful house in a convenient location to the heart of town... Amazing staff who have a great sense of humor, character and charm. Delicious veggie omelette and blueberry pancakes. Loved the paintings and photos throughout the home. Plenty of parking in the back of the home -- enter in the back to check in and the team is there to greet you and show you around. Coffee, tea and water available all day plus afternoon/evening sweets to top off the day. Aircon in the room but we opened the windows to let in the cool breeze for most of the stay. A quiet street and comfy beds were just right. Hair dryer in the bathroom and great water pressure and heat. Did I cover all the details??? Highly recommended!!

Allison I.

Yelp
This was my first time staying here and it was a phenomenal experience. From the moment I arrived, I could tell the owner had great attention to detail. My room was the cleanest room I have ever stayed in. The bed was really comfortable and I like that each room had individually controlled ac. The owner was so nice and very attentive. Plus, the location is perfect. Right off of Bellevue. If I ever go back to Newport- this is where I will be staying.

Yelp
The last day of our trip to the States, we stayed at Slocum Inn. We had a nice bedroom on the top floor. The host, however, a certain "Jess" didn't give us a nice welcome at all. When we entered the Inn, she showed us our room very quickly. It was like we were working on her nerves. She wasn't friendly at all. By the way, the I- pad in the room wasn't charged. In the morning, at breakfast, she didn't even look at us. There was another lady, who was super (she was Jamaican). We had a nice conversation with her. When we left, Jess, just said goodbye. Nothing more, nothing less. Sorry, but is not way to manage an Inn. We love Newport and the Inn is nice, but the host wasn't. Nadia and Christof from Belgium.

Lara W.

Yelp
This bed and breakfast was beautiful! There were plenty of restaurants and shops near by. Mark and Chelsea were great hosts. The house was gorgeous with drinks and treats available all day. We stayed in the snuggery room with the spiral staircase leading to an upstairs bathroom. It was cute with lots of light. I am only giving 4 stars because of the bed. It was somewhat comfortable, but like another review said-it definitely has a dip in the middle. That needs to get remedied. Other than that it was a phenomenal stay with an excellent homemade breakfast the next morning!

Angela C.

Yelp
Stayed here in the room called "the Snuggery" with the boyfriend a couple weekends ago. It's really an amazing room - the first floor is just the bed, nightstands and closet, while the second floor which is accessed in the room by a winding staircase is the bathroom. So cool! The innkeepers were very nice. Very professional. Breakfast was great. There was blueberry bread pudding one morning that was heavenly. I've read reviews on other sites where people complain there was nothing for breakfast except a little fruit. I didn't find that to be the case at all. My theory is they simply slept in so late that by the time they moseyed down, there was simply nothing left. The inn is also located right in the middle of everything. The main streets are a short walk away. The Viking Hotel was just down the street. All in all an extremely good value. We've decided this is the place to stay when in Newport!

Elizaron D.

Yelp
We couldn't have asked for more from a weekend away, from the friendly service, quality food, a clean and quiet room, and easy access to everything in and outside of town. Hard to detail any one facet - everything just fit together so very well. Also, we stayed in The Cottage room, which is a quaint and quiet option I recommend you also choose.

Tara M.

Yelp
Great B&B for an INCREDIBLE value The perfect place for a couple's weekend (or mid-week stay like us) The rooms were large, the bathroom was a girl's dream (your own personal make-up desk!), very little room to room noise, and great decor! There is no TV and that's what we loved about it! The atmosphere and service were incredible, it is very clear they have thought of every little detail and really care about the service they provide. The B&B is very close to all the happenings of Newport - Thames st/the wharfs (walking distance and I'm no walker) but tucked away on a quiet street, which is PERFECT. All in all I would recommend this B&B and if we're ever in Newport, we will certainly be staying here again!

Marianne S.

Yelp
We checked in last week to attend a wedding, but unfortunately I got sick and was hospitalized. The people at the inn were great. Only charged us for one night instead of two. So I wanted to thank them for that. I was impressed with the inn itself, the bed was nice, and we are looking forward to returning for a relaxing weekend soon. Thank you again.

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
Great location off the beaten path, but not too far from shopping and the best Newport beaches!! Summer isn't the only times to go... Special nights makes a special weekend!! Happy holidays!

Darrell R.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, nice breakfast menus, free breakfast. Coffee and baked goods available throughout the day. Staff very knowledgeable about town's interests spots and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family! Was sorry to leave.

Chris H.

Yelp
We've stayed there half a dozen times now. Inn is a great size, not too big or too small. The hosts are great, helpful and let you have alone time. Rooms are very comfortable and breakfast is lovely. Also in a nice spot (near everything But not on main drag). Book early- some of the rooms are much larger than others

Erica K.

Yelp
Stayed at the Inn one weekend in September, Inn was quaint, room was beautiful. It was in such a great location, we were able to walk to downtown Newport very easily. The breakfast was really good I had the wild main blueberry pancakes and they were truly the best pancakes I have ever had. All in all, it was a fantastic stay and we will be back.

Samantha M.

Yelp
First time staying at a B & B and I will say, it was the best time I've had! We checked in late, and even went out early to particapte in an event. The room was fantastic. (Captian quarters) Very spacious and the best part was, no TV! My boyfriend realized that WAY before I did. I love that fact. It gave you more time to go out and enjoy Newport. We're both not Breakfast fans, but the food looked great and everyone seemed to enjoy it! Mark and his staff were very nice and welcoming. We loved the hospitality and freindliness.

Bev H.

Yelp
Lovely room, comfy bed, delicious breakfast, laid back host with a delightful sense of humor. This charming inn is located within walking distance of the harbor, many great restaurants and shops. On our next trip to Newport, this is where we'll stay, no doubt!

Ryan Z.

Yelp
Service was impeccable, which complemented the unbelievable breakfast and overall experience. 10/10 will be our bed and breakfast of choice when in Newport!

Shal P.

Yelp
I was nervous about staying at a B&B because we have always stayed at chains before, but this was an awesome experience. The owner, Mark, knows all of his visitors, is willing to answer any questions, and the whole place has a great personal touch. We stayed in the apartment which is detached from the rest of the inn, so I don't know how it is to stay in the inn, but we loved having our own little suite. It was clean, charming, and the location is PERFECT. The breakfast was delicious (and a good portion size too), and there is always coffee/tea available. The place itself has the charm and character of a b&b, but is also renovated and modern so you don't feel like you're staying in a run down hotel or anything. I would definitely recommend this place!

Kim P.

Yelp
I just got back from a 4 night stay at this bed and breakfast. It was perfect.. The location , super clean, great breakfast in the morning, porch in front to sit outside on a nice Dayana a cute deck out back to have breakfast. We have no complaints about our stay. Mark was a great host.. I recommend renting the bikes there for the Day to see Newport. They will make any accommodations you need if you don't want to do yourself. You won't be disappointed!

Y. K.

Yelp
After reading great reviews for this B&B, we decided to give this a shot on one of our many trips to Newport. We frequently stay at B&Bs in Newport and the larger New England area, therefore have a very good idea of what is good, and what leaves much to be desired. While we really want to give a good rating for this inn given the friendly inn keeper, but we cannot ignore the shortcomings in service, accommodation and location. 1. First, we were misled at the time of booking (we used booking.com) regarding the type of room we were booking (Captain's quarter's, The Snuggery etc.); the one we got was not even in the photos (The Postcard). We were shocked at what we actually got when we got to the inn. Misleading guests reflects very poorly on the establishment. Actually, for lack of transparency, I would not even rank this place. If you ever do willingly choose to stay in The Postcard room, please know that it is on the top floor and there is just one tiny window that overlooks the street. The room is perhaps the smallest they have. The bathroom while tiny is modern, but the water pressure is unreliable. The mattress is soft and thick (the best bit about the room). The heating is modern and reliable, and can be adjusted as needed. 2. The housekeeping service was very disappointing for an inn that prides in fantastic service. Our used dirty coffee mugs were left in the room after housekeeping had left & never removed until we took them downstairs ourselves. 3. Even though we stayed 2 nights, our toiletries were never replenished & we had to buy our own for the second day. These are red flags in very basic hospitality and service. 4. The breakfast provided while excellent in itself (Mark is a great chef) was just 1 entree with juice, coffee and tea, unlike any other inn we have stayed at & hence the below average rating. Bed & breakfasts are known for hearty, delicious, large breakfasts, so this was disappointing. 5. Additionally, there is no afternoon snack/cookies/pastries or tea offered which once again is unusual in comparison to other inns in the area, but we did not take this into consideration during ranking (being lenient). 6. The yard furniture in the back porch was in horrid condition, which cannot be excused- it just needed paint to be presentable (like ones put out in the front porch). While not much can be done about the brown grass at this time of year, certainly one can run a coat or two of paint on the yard furniture to make it somewhat presentable. This indicates to us apathy on the part of the inn keepers and less than complete attention to basic presentation of the accommodation. 7. The location is not very convenient for a stroll into the wharf/downtown area, at least not at this time of year. One needs a car, which in comparison to other inns in the area, is a disadvantage, since they are a 5-minute walk or less, from downtown. People need to know this and other guests have also mentioned this point on other travel websites about this lodging. We agree with them. 8. Like other inns in the area though, they do provide free parking at the back of the lodging, which is good. We hope our review will help both future guests in making an informed decision, and the inn keepers in improving the services.

Jennifer P.

Yelp
So we have never stayed in a bed and breakfast before, but while driving through Newport Rhode Island we loved the colonial style houses and how much history there is and decided to give it a try. From the second we pulled into the driveway there was a lady waiting with a smile for us to check in and even gave us a map of things to do in the area. There is complimentary breakfast, coffee and parking and shops and the harbor only a 10 minute walk. We stayed in the captains quarters room and it's very spacious. I would highly recommend this place, so happy we came and will definitely be back.

Craig M.

Yelp
Great value, super friendly, awesome food. I'm glad we chose this B&B, it was a prefect fit for our Newport trip.

Sammy n Laura G.

Yelp
We were in town the weekend of 6/12/15 for a wedding. I am soo happy that I found this Inn on trip advisor, it was a perfect fit for my husband and I. We stayed in 'The Snuggery' room and the name describes it, it was cozy small. But it worked with the way they have things laid out. There is a spiral staircase to the 2nd floor in the room and there is a nice size area with the sink and a big mirror to get ready and the bathroom/shower behind a pocket door. I think if you are staying longer than 2 nights maybe choose one of their larger rooms. But this room was just what we needed as we were only in it to sleep. Also, Mark who runs the place was GREAT. My husband's pants split 30min before we had to be at the wedding and Mark went to his house and brought us back needle and thread. Life saver! The breakfast is a must, get yourself out of bed no matter how bad the hangover may be. The inn is also in a perfect location. We were able to walk downtown in less than 10min. We drove to the beach in about 5min. Everything is just where it needs to be. Excellent service. Beautiful historic home. Bike rentals. Relaxing outdoor space. Delicious breakfast included. Clean rooms. Not much more you can ask for. On our next trip to Newport we'll be staying here again!

Tara J.

Yelp
What a charming place to stay! The room that we stayed in was lovely and the bathroom was very nice. Such a cozy stay with soft robes in the room and a comfortable bed. Do not miss out on the cookies and tea that they have available in the afternoon, the cookies may have been the best I've ever eaten. Breakfast in the morning is also absolutely delicious, a highlight of staying here for sure. Everyone that works there is super hospitable and we had a great stay. Plus we like to walk when we are in Newport, and we just left our car in the parking lot and walked everywhere (but we don't mind walking, so take that for what it's worth!)

Rita B.

Yelp
The BEST! We stayed in the Bostonian room. Very comfortable. Nicely decorated. The room wasn't too small. Bathroom had a standup shower. The rest of the house was also beautifully decorated and very welcoming. We sat on the front porch swing for awhile watching a bunny hop around. So very relaxing. Breakfast was the best we ever had, period. Mark is an outstanding chef. Blueberry stuffed French toast, Portuguese sausage omelet. So delicious. Will definitely stay here again. It was a short walk(5 min) to the trolley to visit the mansions. It was maybe a 10 minute walk to the warf area. The B&B also recommended a great place for dinner and were very happy to share information about the area and things to do. I am so happy we stayed here.

General T.

Yelp
Stayed in the captain's quarters. This place is well worth the high prices, the highlight being the personalized breakfasts prepared to order every morning. Kept clean and classy all the way. Downside would be distance to the downtown area.

Katelyn W.

Yelp
I love this place. SUPER clean. Super accommodating and helpful staff owners. Delicious breakfast! My mom and I stayed for 3 days and we didn't want to leave. We can not wait to come back!

Shawn H.

Yelp
My husband and I were nervous about staying at a bed and breakfast. Although clean and quaint, the rooms were nice, as we feared the inn was understaffed. There was only one young girl Chelsea working the front desk. We had to wait 25 minutes to check into our room as she was busy with other guests and seemingly everything else but us. Also, she seemed to be on her cell phone a lot not sure what that was about but doesn't seem proper at work while you have people waiting. At one point she walked right by us to greet a friend who came to visit her at work! We didn't feel very priveledged and felt ignored we had a limited amount of time in Newport so this process was kind of disappointing. Overall wouldn't stay here again until they hire more/better staff that are capable of multitasking and focusing on customer service.

Sue C.

Yelp
This is a lovely bed and breakfast! We stayed in the library room, it was elegantly furnished with a beautiful four poster bed and leather Hitchcock style chairs. Breakfast was sumptuous, with many choices and great service. I highly recommend that you consider this for your next stay in Newport.

Yelp
Great place to stay. We went for a long weekend and stayed in the Snuggery. Really liked the layout and the bathroom on the upper floor made it seem more spacious. The staff was great, helpful without being intrusive and the breakfast was really good, loved the choices. Would definitely stay again.

Yelp
Excellent value for money. Beautiful house, great location and yummy breakfast. Mark and his staff are great hosts, and the big backyard deck is a great place to relax. No TVs, but if you want that, go stay in a hotel. Make sure to walk around the Kay/Catherine St neighborhood - the homes are beautiful.

Yelp
Adorable quaint charming inn on a lovely residential street in Newport. Sferra blanket, beautiful antique farmhouse furnishings. Bright airy space not cluttered or stodgy or dark like other inns. Easy walk to mansions, cliff walk, upscale shops, tennis hall of fame etc etc. owned by a young chef and his wife both hotelier vets they do it right. Fresh baked salted caramel chocolate chip cookies were waiting for us when we checked in. A made to order gourmet breakfast -with about 8 options - was a luxurious thing to wake up to. Our choices were the omelette with Caramelized onions, Portuguese sausage and cheddar- Mark the chef/owner gladly obliged when I asked for egg whites (at many b&b's they would scoff at such a high maintenance request) my fiancé went for the blueberry stuffed French toast. The filling was perfectly sweet but not too sweet and clearly home made. There is a great deck where breakfast is served with brand new furniture and awning and both high and low top tables. Atmosphere is friendly but highly intuitive and not invasive. We will recommend to any friends visiting the area and will be back again.
