Martabak Bangka Legendaris(encek)

There was this legendary, small and humble stall that sold Martabak Bangka for many years. It was a classic martabak but still enjoyable. There was a friendly grandpa who still managed to serve customers. I tried my favorite classic combination, half peanut chocolate and half cheese. The texture was pretty moist and tasted pretty good too. The price was still reasonable compared to the quality.

This humble spot offers something rare: martabak cooked over charcoal, giving it a unique smoky flavor you won’t find elsewhere. The highlight is Encek, the elderly owner, who still prepares each martabak by hand despite his age. A visit here isn’t just about the food; it’s about appreciating tradition, dedication, and a taste that stands the test of time.

It's a small place, it sells the thick sweet pancake ( martabak manis) with a mix of peanuts, chocolate and cheese for a choice. The choco peanut is good. The waiting time is based on first come first serve.

When I went there, there was only 1 portion left, the martabak dough was different from the others, the sweetness was just right, the toppings were just right, it deserved to be legendary!

As usual, the main chef 👨‍🍳 is the Ncek (uncle). Two people help Ncek in preparing Martabak, and he will do the finishing touch (putting up toppings, smearing some margarine on the Martabak skin, and cutting the Martabak). He didn't use any condensed milk, and Martabak is still reasonably soft. The Martabak cooked with charcoal, old-fashioned. You should come when you are in the area. How open from 12 noon onwards.

I came in at around 3PM, and I actually was nervous that they might have alrd ran out of stock. But luckily, I was the last person to be able to get their martabak for that day, last 2 boxes! It's incredible how fast they ran out of these, and they open at 1PM-ish. Until 4PM, there were still people coming asking to buy the martabak which was no longer available. You didn't have to pay upfront, you pay when you collect the martabak. I ordered their half chocolate half cheese martabak priced at 55k and another full cheese martabak priced at 60k. It was hella greasy; in a good way!! The dough was fluffy and not too dense. The filling was just perfect, not too little not too much. I kept the martabak for a couple days in the fridge and would reheat it in the airfryer at 160C for 5 minutes, the texture was still super good even after 3 days in the fridge. Loved it, very moist and flavorful! Do came early to make sure you'll get your share 👌

they open at 12 PM, I came at 2.40 pm, Sunday, and the seller said they are already sold out. I almost cried 🤣. but then the seller is willing to give other people's order because their WhatsApp was not replied. Lucky me. I got half cheese, half choco peanut martabak. price was 60K IDR. it was great. topping is plenty. martabak is not thick. and I think they also did not give sweeten condensed milk.
