Our trip to the Martin House was wonderful. We had to make a scheduling change and David was very helpful and understanding. The Inn was lovely and location perfect right in the historic area of Nantucket. We were in room 14 which was perfect. Bathroom was large, bed comfortable, nicely decorated and just renovated. Breakfast was great. Afternoon cookies and a warm fireplace was wonderful. We were there on a Monday and Tuesday but there was still plenty enough open. The Welcome Center recommended the free Wave public transportation to the Cisco brewery. They dropped us off and picked us up right at a stop at a bike path 10 minute walk to the brewery. Recommended that ! We would definitely return to the Martin House !

I stayed at The Martin House on Friday night of Christmas Stroll weekend. Located on a quiet street, the inn is walking distance from the ferry and just a 10-minute walk from restaurants and the cobblestoned Main St. shopping area that is the heart of Stroll weekend. The inn’s decor (rooms and sitting area off the lobby) is charming. If needed, you can store luggage here prior to check-in or after check-out. The continental breakfast was fine, though selection limited. Homemade chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon were delicious. The innkeeper David lives onsite and encourages guests to contact him with any concerns. The only glitch I ran into was that the heat in my room did not work. David moved me to an upgraded room (heat working) at no extra charge. I was very happy with the room, where I got a comfortable quiet night’s sleep. When I checked out, I forgot my cell phone charger. David mailed it back to me priority mail at no charge. David is relatively new at The Martin. He is very pleasant and extremely accommodating. I would have given this property five stars were it not for the heating issue. I would stay here again. Tip: Brotherhood of Thieves is a good nearby restaurant that doesn’t require reservations, even on Stroll weekend. I ate here!

I read a bunch of reviews previously and did not find accuracy of what this accommodation actually is. This property is nothing more than a basic room rental with a limited continental breakfast. There are no amenities or services other than housekeeping The rooms are cheaply redone in something like Wayfair furniture, bed comfortable, wi fi working. The property feels run down, though says renovated and sparse like a 2-3 star hotel except in August charging over $1000 a night for this generic king room. |Wow ! |There is no more detail to add except has a porch with dirty furniture and tables in a crowded dorm like main area

Loved the decor at this sweet inn. Very crisp and clean and the bedding is delightful! Pretty back yard and porches make the morning muffins, fruit, juice and coffee even better. So convenient. We walked everywhere except a quick cab ride to Jetties beach.

I booked a trip to Nantucket fairly last minute hoping to find a relaxing place to stay (and escape work and my kids for a minute). This was an oasis. The bed was so comfortable and the sheets were so soft. The garden was magical day and night. And the location was perfect to walk everywhere and feel safe at all times.

If you are looking for a cozy, home-like feeling, clean, updated, quiet and perfectly located to downtown, this is your place! David and his staff at the Martin House were very welcoming and attentive. Starting the day with breakfast on the outside deck and finishing the day there with a drink was very relaxing.

The Martin House Inn is an amazing place to stay while in Nantucket! It is convenient to the amazing shops and dining downtown. It was an easy walk from the ferry to the inn. The place is quaint and exceptionally clean. It was built in the early 1800's so the charm and classic beauty are present. The staff is amazing and prompt. The housekeeping crew has a combined 25 year experience at the inn between the two. They are very helpful, super nice, and the place is super clean. I really cannot say enough about the place and the people. You certainly will NOT be disappointed.

The Martin House was wonderful. It was centrally located, quiet, and comfortable. David was a great host. My wife and I would highly recommend it. It was a great getaway. ||It had easy access to the ferry, shopping and restaurants. We look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
We stayed there last autumn (sorry for the late review!). It was excellent. The house was quaint, clean, and lovely. Also lovely was the hostess, who took such great care of us. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Keep in mind that there was a staff shortage due to covid at the time we stayed at the Inn so some of this was excusable. Overall, it's a nice place, however, the carpets looked dirty and some of the decor was dusty and odd looking but generally speaking, the place looks fairly nice. The service could have been much better and once again I understand that there was a staff shortage which is no fault of the Inn keepers. We were greeted very rudely when we first arrived. We didn't even get a "hello" or "welcome". The person working that day simply and rudely stated "Name?" We were then given a long list of rules, some of which made no sense, that we were somehow supposed to remember. Service did get MUCH better as our stay continued but that first day was terrible. It gave us a really bad first impression. The widow's walk was cool. Be careful if you have trouble going up steps because the steps leading up to the front door are a bit steep. By the last day there were no clean towels in the bathroom.

Yelp
We had a wonderful week at The Martin House Inn in Nantucket. The house is perfectly located in the town just a few blocks from the center. Lisa, the innkeeper could not have been nicer! She gave us great advice on places to go, where to rent bikes and served up some nice breakfasts! The room we had on the first floor was a nice size with a private bath and nicely decorated with a four poster canopy queen bed. There was a bit of damage on the wall under the a/c and in the bathroom - and the shower is not large - but overall it was Very clean, pretty and comfortable. The Inn has a comfortable living room, a large dining room and a really nice veranda as well as a pretty yard with lounge chairs! It was a beautiful place to stay!

Yelp
Booked two rooms in June for a lovely August excursion. One of the more affordable inns within easy walking distance to the nice shops and eateries. Do go up on the rooftop even though the ladder is steep. Pretty view. Every room is charming.

Yelp
Great place, great location. Sky Schuyler was great. Fridays are wine & cheese night.

Yelp
A little late review, but this place is simply awesome! Me and my girlfriend went here 6/1 for just the weekend (right before the busy season started) and had a wonderful time here. Service was just excellent, from the whole booking process (thank you Trish!) to the B&B staff. Lisa was very helpful and made great cookies and scones. Great to snag a few before heading out for the day! The Inn itself was tucked away from the main streets so it's a mini walk, but it's very quiet and right next to the church which allows people into the bell tower to enjoy the view. We stayed in room 21, I believe. It had its own bathroom AND outside deck. We were sad that we didn't get a chance to really use the deck, but it was a nice feature. We loved the room and hopefully we can make it back for a longer stay to really experience it! (note: the room door was a little tricky though - you had to get the lock in just the right position to lock and unlock it when you entered or left, but we got the hang of it quickly - something Martin House will still want to fix)

Yelp
Excellent location near the heart of Nantucket's town center. "Skye", the B&B manager, was a wonderful hostess - she took great pride in showing us around the house. Rates during the summer time were relatively affordable, compared to some of the other B&B's in the area. My wife and I stayed in a cozy (a.k.a. "small") room (#26) on the 2nd floor that had a private bath. Rooms on the 3rd floor have a shared bathroom. We were allowed to check in at 9am because the room was not occupied the day before and we were allowed to leave our bags there the entire day of check out so we could enjoy a beautiful bike ride and beach day before heading back to the mainland. Breakfast was adequate - continental style. I would have preferred a hot egg dish served, but I knew before-hand that this was not the case. No outdoor shower, so coming back from the beach could track in some sand with you. We were able to use the outdoor shower at a sister B&B just up the street. Overall - a very pleasant experience. Would return there.

Yelp
I stayed here with a friend on Columbus Day weekend for two nights. We had a small room with two twin beds on the third floor, which is a floor that has only one shared bathroom. The room description online doesn't say this, so I should have done my research before booking the room. It wouldn't have been that bad, however there were three older drunk men staying on the third floor that made a mess of the bathroom and we were forced to wait for them to finish stumbling around the inn before we could go in and wash up before bed. The walls are paper thin - you can hear a pin drop in the room next to you. There were quirky sounds throughout the night; bathroom fans and general strange noises coming from the walls that kept me up at night. Not sure if it's the heating or A/C unit that made the noise, but it was annoying. The lock on the door isn't that trustworthy, either. The inn is old so that's expected, but it would have been nice to have a safe in the room to accommodate the fact that the door latch can be busted open with one full kick to the door. The service, however, is excellent. I have zero complaints about the staff. Everyone is extremely accommodating and the visiting innkeeper could not have been a more helpful, kind hostess.

Yelp
The best B&B that I have ever stayed at. From the moment we walked into the Historic Home in Nantucket, we were greeted with hot chocolate chip cookies and a personalized welcome note. The staff is amazing, the breakfast was excellent, and the rooms were great which were all uniquely decorated with great furniture and included high quality linens and towels. Recommend sitting on the Patio and playing a game of scrabble with some wine. Who knows, you may even think SNUED is a word!

Yelp
The Martin House is AMAZING my mother and I have stayed there four times already every June. The rooms are unique, clean and picturesque. The Innkeepers have always been helpful and pleasant giving us the inside scoop on the hidden gems on the island to visit. The breakfast is always delicious, fresh fruit and yogurt, homemade scones and fresh local bread. We usually eat on the lovely deck of the house if the weather permits. I could not say nicer things about this place.

Yelp
Lovely first floor room w private bath. Great breakfast with scones and fresh fruit. Beautiful veranda and gardens. Within walking distance of Main Street and all bus routes. Easy walk to and from ferry as well as two different beaches.

Yelp
The Martin House Inn treats their customers very unfairly. I booked a room at the inn through Expedia well over 3 weeks before my stay. They request you cancel 3 weeks in advance. I had to cancel the room 16 hrs. later. I booked it in the afternoon and cancelled through Expedia first thing the very next morning. I was charged a $47 fee because of this which is outrageous. I did not realize through Expedia that the Inn would charge a fee until I was not refunded the full amount on my credit card statement. If I had held the room for a few days and they were not able to re-book it, I would not be so upset about the charges. However, I called the inn about a week later when I was given only a partial credit and I was told that they charge 10% of the reservation if the room is cancelled. The crazy part was that they had already re-booked the room for that weekend and I was still being charged! So basically they profited from my quick mistake. I tried to work it out with the inn. The innkeeper explained that they have credit card fees they have to cover, but I know that credit card fees would only be 1-2% at most for a business and I was being charged 10%, or a $47 fee. The innkeeper said she would have the owner call me the next day to review. I never received a call from the owner. The innkeeper called me back and advised that the owner was an attorney and was too busy to speak with me about this. Also very disappointing and quite snobby of the owner to feel her time is more important than anyone else's. I feel this is a very unfair business practice and if I were on the other side I would have issued a credit as a courtesy, even a partial credit. It would have been nice if the innkeeper had actually offered to only charge me whatever charges they were out which would have been at most $9 or $10 and that is assuming the credit card company charged them a fee at all since it was cancelled. Instead they decided to make a profit of $47 off of me. Very, very unfair business practice. They also booked my room and profited off of that too. I would not book here again. Buyer Beware!

Yelp
Great B&b, however my yelp profile focuses solely on cookies, so this is what i am referencing here. On our first day here I smelled the tantalizing aroma of fresh baked cookies. My wife and I went downstairs and found a plate of just out of the oven chocolate chip cookies that were placed out for the guests. They were phenomenal!!! Soft, chewy, with melted chocolate, and the perfect amount of salt. I was hooked and will surely be coming back.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here 9/16-9/19 as a part of our honeymoon. The pricing is reasonable when you compare it to the other lodging options on the island. The new inn keeper, Lisa, is wonderful. The daily breakfast was delicious and she always came out to sit with the guests and learn about their plans for the day and make suggestions if wanted. The place was clean and the beds were comfortable. Other than sleeping and breakfast we did not spend much time there. The location is wonderful it is a close walk into the heart of Nantucket but far enough away that you do not have to put up with noisy streets. We would definitely return to the Martin House Inn if we ever find ourselves on the Island again!

Lisa F.

Yelp
The innkeeper, Skye is wonderful. She tells you delightful stories and makes you wish she could be your cool aunt who you visit every summer. And she bakes you THE BEST PASTRIES everyday. The location is perfectly far away enough from the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough that you can walk to everything with ease. A lot of the places in Nantucket are fussy, but this place just feels homey.

Jill T.

Yelp
We stayed at this cozy yet adorable inn last week and it was fantastic!! Our inn keeper was a sweet woman who was so helpful about the island and she makes the best cookies in the world! They do a wine and cheese night on Friday's too. The cleaning staff is on top of everything you would ever want and need. I would most defiantly stay again and will tell all my friends about this charming bed and breakfast!

Jerold W.

Yelp
Anyone who raves about Lisa must either be a relative of hers, or had never been to a B&B before. We've stayed there twice over a two year period, and this woman just sucks the life out of an otherwise charming property. Always sour, always had a look on her face like any request is soooo much trouble. Ugh. Nice location, but go elsewhere.

Pamela K.

Yelp
Warm and cozy with all the charm of an era past. The Widow's Walk, with breathtaking views of sunrise and sunset, was my favorite amenitie, right after Skye's baked goods. Within walking distance to many attractions and a quick cab ride to anything! The recommendations were all fabulous and Skye welcomed us like long lost friends! BEST SCONES EVER!! Just lovely! Thanks again to Skye...an Innkeeper extroidinare!!!

Tracy M.

Yelp
What a great place to stay in Nantucket! We had such a great time at this great B&B. Skye, the Innkeeper, is extremely entertaining and had great suggestions for places to go around the island. The breakfast everyone morning was amazing! The best granola and scones I've ever had! Oh, and don't forget about the random homemade cookies they put out throughout the day as a snack. Loved the Martin House Inn!
