One of the best restaurants I’ve ever visited in Germany! The food? Absolutely delicious. The atmosphere? Truly unforgettable – warm, lively, and authentic. The beer? Simply outstanding – hands down the best I’ve ever had. And the service? Friendly, attentive, and just what every guest hopes for. A perfect experience all around!

Everything you wish for when visiting a German brewhouse. Service was fast, professional and kind. Food was generous, high quality, tasty and not at all bland - simply spot on! The room was perfectly decorated with possibility to speak with one another, while the place was busy, and with a nice view of the kitchen, which had everything very much under control! Impressive

I loved this restaurant! The staff was friendly and the service was quick — we didn’t have to wait long for our food. The traditional dishes were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant and cozy. I would definitely come back and I highly recommend it 🥰

Someone recommended me to eat here but what I got was not what I expected. The pork knuckle had a strong smell, the mashed potatoes were too cold and the service was unprofessional. We were treated coldly. I felt disappointed as a tourist who had traveled a long way to try German food. One time is enough

A great place to eat and drink local. Though the sign claimed that the place was full, my husband and I were sat at a large shared table. The food was really great and the service was quick and friendly. A decent price for what we received.

Ah, it's so nice to take a break at Martin's Bräu, especially when it's really cold outside. Although it's noisy, we're happy to sit down at a table and enjoy a good meal. It's perfect for recharging a bit before facing the cold outside. 😅 The service from the waitstaff is excellent. The menu prices are average, so there are no surprises. A true brewery atmosphere to discover.👌

Nice traditional brewery. The beers are tasty and staff is friendly. The place is very crowded and we had to queue for 15’ to get a table. The food was average with the exception of the noodles with mushroom. Probably better pubs to explore in the city

I spent a few days in Freigburg, and it was very lovely overall. I stumbled upon this restaurant as a recommendation from the local guitar shop owner, and so I came back for dinner two out of the four days, because despite a not so pleasant (rude) small interaction with a waitress on the first day, I managed to get in and was received by one of the most charismatic, kind, friendly and attentive waiters I have ever come across. I didn't get his name, but I know he speaks many languages and I complimented his service quality, and the second day he even called me 'maestro' which, yes, even though it might be used as a general term for addressing people, it's very flattering for a Spanish speaker. Anyway, he recommended the schnitzel (breaded pork chop) the first night, and it was to die for, and accompanied with the house beer, on a very hot day and after a day of physical activities, I was in heaven. The second day another excellent waiter served me and recommended the ribs, and so I ordered it along with, of course, more house beer. As a dessert I ordered the forest cake, and though not to my taste, I appreciated the craft and flavours behind it. Overall 5 stars, but I give 4 stars for service, for that one rude interaction, as for the people who took my food order both days were excellent. The ambience is very pleasant and very interesting, as they have two big tanks on display, where I assume the beer is brewed. The menu caters for meat and non-near eaters, and it's available in English. I discovered that generally the queue that forms outside the restaurant is for people wanting to sit outside, obviously in hot days/season, so you can skip it by requesting to sit downstairs where there was plenty of tables available on both days. Yelp
This place is amazing! I was with a friend and we were walking around Freiburg and we wanted to get authentic German food. We went to Yelp to help guide us and we found Martin's Brau! This was exactly what we were looking for so we made the journey to the restaurant. When we arrived the place was pretty busy. We were seated at a community table with another couple. This is very traditional in Germany to share a table with other people. They have a traditional German menu and they also have an English menu and it looked like maybe a menu in French and Spanish as well. I always love when restaurants do this as they help us out a lot. Martin's Brau brews their own beer! We decided to get the beer of the month which was an Oktoberfest beer. It was really good and had great malt flavors. We did the half liter which was plenty. The inside is a traditional german restaurant. The food we ordered was amazing. I got the Schnitzel! It came with 2 giant pieces and it was pork and was amazing. It came with 1 side and 1 sauce. For my side I got, the spatzel which were small potato dumplings and the mushroom sauce. The mushroom sauce was gravy with mushrooms and it was so good. I poured the mushroom sauce over everything and it made for the perfect bite. I also asked for a side of sauerkraut and they gave me a giant bowl of it. I think they only charged me like 3 Euros for the sauerkraut and it was amazing! This was one of the best German meals I have ever had in my life. It was so flavorful and rich. We ended the night with a giant piece of Black Forest Cake. It was a great way to end our meal! I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for traditional German experience in Freiburg. It was great, the beer was fresh, food tasted amazing, and overall it was a great dining location.

Yelp
We were traveling in Freiburg and we wanted some German food, lo and behold, we found this German pub. We ordered the house mixed plate (I think that's what it was) with their monthly brew (they have a different house brew every month, would definitely recommend). Our bill came out to be around 50 euro, and boy did we feast! We got 2 potato sides, a big old plate of sauerkraut and about 3/4 cuts of their meats. We enjoyed most of what we got and we walked away with very full belly, overall, a great place to try out German foods.

Yelp
I heard it is the oldest brewery restaurant in Freiburg. As they brew beer here, you can get fresh beer from the tap but it's not uncommon in other restaurants. Very meat-focused menu so if you don't eat meat, you can have veggie wrap or salad. Portion size is typical german size.. plenty. It's rather casual place to grab lunch but salad seemed over priced.

Yelp
My husband enjoyed the beers, and we shared a mixed wurst platter with sauerkraut and fried potatoes. It was divine! The service was great and I noticed our server was multilingual, able to speak easily with many different nationalities.

Yelp
Great menu, great service (especially Sam who remembers all the customers) the beer is very good, I had a Weiss beer snd it was tasty and good. I recommend this place for a good German dinner in a very cozy German place.

Yelp
Precious typical german beer cellar. Good beer and efficient staff. Little mixed salad is straight out of a supermarket bag - not recommendable. But delicious Fleischkäse (mixed pork meat loaf) made it perfectly even. Seems to be a german jewel, as its crowded (and we waited 40mins after ordering). Good atmosphere - won't get boring. Wifi's free though ;-)

Yelp
I loved this place. Here's why: 1. Their heifeweizen was delish. Seriously good. 2. Their brats are SO flavourful. Three kinds, the spicy one is the best. The meal is well-priced at 11.50 Euros - it's definitely filling, and we were more than happy with the choice. 3. Bananaweizen? Um, yes please! Wonderfully sweet with a nice aftertaste. I was pretty surprised with this. I also wanted to try the colaweizen, but the husband didn't seem interested. Boo urns. 4. Free WIFI. 5. Our waiter was fantastic. Despite knowing very little English, he tried really hard to help us understand our food and was just the nicest person ever. He took pictures for us and made sure we knew how to get home and everything. This place is great if you're looking for some local pub food and beer. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Yelp
Not impressed really. We came here on a busy week night and the place was packed. We sat outside in the little alley near the entrance. I ordered the wurst plate which came with several kinds of sausages, potatoes and sour kraut. The stuff looked good (see photo) but the sausages were a dry and overcooked, the kraut bland and mushy. I didn't even finish the plate which being German food, is very unusual for me. I suppose I should have just drank beer and skipped the food. I would not make a point to go back here.

Yelp
So good. Stumbled upon it one night while staying in Freiburg. I had the lamb bratwurst that are a house specialty and a side of pomme frites. Bratwurst were good, but the pomme frites were to die for. I'd go back for them alone. Decent beer made in house. Pro tip, when they say "spicy" they mean it.

Food took a while but was very flavoursome when it arrived. Free WIFI too.

Yelp
Martin's Brau is a brewery that also serves good regional food. This is the first wifi-free brew pub I have ever been in my life. It is located in the basement of the Freiburger Markthalle. More information : http://kitchenprinzessin.blogspot.com/2012/03/confessions-of-food-explorer-freiburg.html
