Yelp
Martis Palace Hotel bills itself as a more luxurious option in the heart of Rome, but I was a bit let down. The location is convenient for sightseeing, the staff is friendly, and the breakfast is decent (no hot food prepared to order, just buffet style, which I'm not really a fan of personally.) There is also a rooftop with beautiful 360° views of Rome. However, our room looked like it had a hard summer tourist season and was banged up with scuffs all over the walls, chipped paint, and crumbling waterproofing in the shower. Overall, the room was actually very dingy and not as clean as I would like. I had to wipe down surfaces everywhere because they had gross markings of God knows what on them. I definitely did them a favor by giving the room a deep clean. Also, while the rooftop deck has great views, the mediocre drinks are a pricey €14 and there is no shade, which I think is crazy in a place as sunny and hot as Rome. So while things were not terrible, they also weren't very impressive either. I would not bother returning.
