Martius Private Suites (Rome, Lazio) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Rome, as a destination, already has plenty to recommend it, from its ancient history to its famous dedication to the good life. But as fans of unique, unusual, independent hospitality, we’ve got another reason to love it: there’s perhaps no other major capital that’s so richly endowed with hotels of the small-scale luxury-boutique variety. Martius Private Suites is exactly the kind of place we’re talking about: just eight rooms and suites in a Renaissance palace a few streets due north of the Pantheon, in the Campo Marzio district, decorated in a hyper-luxe hybrid Italian style, blending the building’s considerable history with the influence of a contemporary eye." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed as a family in one of the suites in this authentically Roman hotel. The room was huge, the location was perfect and the staff were super friendly. The decor combines old and new so has something for everyone. The continental breakfast is served in a beautiful room by wonderful staff. Lavinia even provided amazing baby sitting services for my 6 year old son one afternoon. While the hotel is best described as boutique I can thoroughly recommend it - book a suite if you can!

If you’re thinking of staying here please look no further. I have not even left yet and I’ve come to leave a review. My husband and I are here from the US and stayed 8 nights. The room is beautiful, the service is amazing, it’s clean and very safe. The ladies come and knock every night to ask if we need anything before they leave. They clean the room everyday. We took a day trip to Florence and spent the night and I wanted to come back right away. I feel safe and secure here. We are tucked away from the hustle and bustle but also a short walk to everything Rome has to offer. I cannot say enough about our stay here, it’s been worth every penny.

We stayed 5 night in one of the Superior rooms . It was an amazing experience. It was very spacious room, beautifully decorated, very clean with nice view into the old Rome streets. Windows are sound proof, no noise coming in when they are closed. Breakfast was great with lots selections with fruit, eggs preparations, juices, breads etc. delicious. Hotel personnel are very nice, polite and helpful. It was a wonderful experience. It’s definitely a place to return. Thank you!

Wow....just wow! We recently returned from a family spring break trip to Rome and Paris. Our stay at the Maritus Private Suites was nothing short of exceptional. Situiated in the heart of rome in a converted mansion with a private courtyard, this boutique hotel was the perfect place for us to call our home while in Rome. We were fortunate enough to book the Presidential Spa Suite, which was more than spacious for our family of four (my husband and I, as well as our 11 and 9 year old kids). We all loved using the sauna and steam showe which are part of the modern bathroom separating the expansive room. This room has a lovely balcony looking out over the beautiful and bustling cobblestone streets of the Pantheon district. We were steps away from the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and just a few short minutes walk from the Spanish Steps, and other major attractions. This location is also easily within walking distance of the Vatican and Trastavere. We felt incredibly safe the entire time. The staff at Maritus were so incredibly attentive, friendly and knowledgable. We are especially appreciative of Beatrice and Dara at the front desk, Manuel at Madame, and all of the staff at this hotel for making our stay one we will not soon forget. We hope to visit again!

I can not tell you how amazing this hotel was in words that would express properly my experience. I booked a presidential suite, thinking “I hope this is an awesome experience and it’s worth it”. When we got there the elevator wasn’t big enough for us, so I was slightly worried about what was to come.. That’s the ONLY thing I could possibly say that wasn’t a celebrity luxury experience. I was blown away completely by everything. The room was beyond what I hoped for, hospitality was 5 stars (staff is wonderful), location= PERFECT for walking to most everything, price is affordable if not cheap for what you get. I’d say if you stay in Rome visiting, and you don’t stay here.. You’re missing out. The ceiling of our room was painted in the 1600s. The sauna in the room was like having an in room spa. Huge suite. Absolutely beautiful. I didn’t want to ever leave the room.

This place is an absolute gem! Spacious and comfortable rooms, top tier service, and an unbeatable location in the heart of Centro Storico. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the Pantheon and perfectly located to access all the main left bank historic sites and even within easy walking distance of Trastevere. The neighborhood is upscale, extremely safe, and full of shops, restaurants, and cafes (plus an excellent gelateria right next door). We were always happy to come back to our “hidden refuge” after days exploring Rome.||||The staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly and helpful, starting from the booking process. They were extremely responsive to my questions as we were considering the hotel, and sent helpful reminders and updates as our arrival date approached. At check-in, they upgraded one of our two rooms at no charge and arranged for early access to one of the rooms. During our stay, they made fantastic recommendations for local restaurants, helped book transportation, really helped take care of anything we needed. All the front desk staff were wonderful - Luigi, Beatrice, Daria, Giorgio (I’m sorry if I forgot anyone) - as was Rene who served us cheerfully at breakfast and Manuel the friendly bartender who made perhaps the best aperol spritz I had all week, and the housekeeping staff, particularly Amy who somehow cleaned and tidied our rooms every time we stepped out.||||The rooms are quite large for a central urban location, with a charming mix of historic architectural details like ceiling frescoes and modern amenities. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spotlessly clean with housekeeping at least twice a day.||||Given the central location and the high quality of the rooms and service, the price - while not cheap - is very reasonable. We researched accommodations for quite a while before selecting MPS and found it excellent value for money. It’s possible that the price is reasonable because this is a small boutique hotel (only 18 rooms) and therefore it does not have some of the amenities you might find in a larger hotel such as a gym, pool, spa, etc. MPS does, however, partner with nearby establishments if you need these services. For instance, I wanted a massage to help with back pain after a long overnight flight, and they booked me an appointment with an excellent nearby day spa (5 minutes walk) and even allowed me to charge the service to my room. I got the impression that the staff would go out of their way to help you find any service or amenity you might want that is not offered directly through the hotel.||||It’s also worth noting that the in-house restaurant / bar is small and has fairly limited options. A standard continental breakfast is included with the room rate, with a few optional add-ons, and there is a small room service menu. But with dozens of excellent restaurants within steps of the hotel, it’s unnecessary in my view to have a full-service restaurant in house. Who travels to Rome to eat in a hotel? We found the small restaurant / bar to be perfect for what we wanted - plenty of coffee and a light breakfast in the morning, plus a bar for the occasional aperitivo.||||If I were to make a small suggestion, it would be for the hotel to consider adding more efficient storage options to the rooms, such as hooks or shelves in the bathrooms and more drawers or shelving inside or in addition to the large closets (which did have plenty of room for hanging items). The rooms are spacious enough to add storage without compromising comfort. But this is really the only area I can think of for improvement and it is quite minor.||||Overall we were extremely happy with our stay at MPS and would recommend it without hesitation. It will certainly be my preferred hotel for any future visits to the Eternal City.

Stayed the whole week here. Beautiful rooms, friendly staff and we loved the traditional Italian breakfast every morning. It's perfectly located. Would definitely stay here again!

It was a nice hotel and I enjoyed staying there. But it left bad taste in my mouth after leaving the hotel, realising that they made me consume coffee and tea, saying it's complimentary. In fact, the tea (BAG) was free, not the tea (with water next to it). After staying there one night spending 770 euro, 20 euros was additionally charged for 3 bottles after I left. While it is not that big amount but you don't feel good when you realised there was a hidden charge this way. I would not have consumed that water if they had provided clear information! Obviously it's a hidden charge and if they realised its their mistakes, they have to correct it with a refund. But they would rather kindly said they will consider it to improve their hotel, avoiding taking responsibility for communication mistake with the incorrect information they provided.
