Martius Private Suites (Rome, Lazio) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Rome, as a destination, already has plenty to recommend it, from its ancient history to its famous dedication to the good life. But as fans of unique, unusual, independent hospitality, we’ve got another reason to love it: there’s perhaps no other major capital that’s so richly endowed with hotels of the small-scale luxury-boutique variety. Martius Private Suites is exactly the kind of place we’re talking about: just eight rooms and suites in a Renaissance palace a few streets due north of the Pantheon, in the Campo Marzio district, decorated in a hyper-luxe hybrid Italian style, blending the building’s considerable history with the influence of a contemporary eye." - Tablet Hotels

Amazing hotel! From the booking and before arrival, staff were great at communicating through email. Set us up with a private transfer from the airport, and gave us all the details we were looking for. We arrived and received a complimentary upgrade to the presidential spa suite. These suites are large, nicely decorated and have very high and amazing ceilings. This hotel is located in a perfect area, fairly quiet, and a short walking distance to all the main sites. The bar has a great atmosphere. They also organized a taxi for us to go to the port, which worked out perfect. All staff were amazing, front desk, housekeeping, bar. Very happy with our experience here.

My husband and I had the best stay at Martius Private Suites. We can’t recommend this hotel enough! From the kindness and warmth of the staff (hi Matteo!) to the room upgrades (both of our stays were upgraded for our Rome trips!). The included breakfast is amazing. It’s very much worth the €10 to have it brought up to your room at a time of your choosing, though having breakfast in the dining room was great, too. The linens and bathrooms were spotless in both rooms, and we loved having windows we could open to let the fall air in. I am an incredibly picky traveler and have high standards for hotels, and would highly recommend this great spot for its affordability and excellency. We will definitely back on our next trip to Rome. Lastly, the location is perfect. Everything is walkable since it’s central, but it never felt like we were in a tourist hot spot. It was the perfect location, and we loved that they close the gate at night for added safety (though the area is very safe). All you do to get in and out at night is hit the button and it it unlocks pretty immediately once a staff member is notified - so easy. All of this to say, if you have a list of Rome hotels and aren’t sure what to choose, choose this!

We had a room on the first floor. Above our room are the suites. The two nights we were there the noise was very loud from people walking and running upstairs. Even a simple walk across the floor was loud. It kept me up at night even with ear plugs. (The noise is a bass sound so ear plugs are less effective). I called the front office twice but the noise didn’t stop until 2:30am. The breakfast included some pastries, yogurt, granola (they brought out a bowl of granola right away), not fresh orange juice, and a hot drink. No eggs, no bacon as they were extra. The breakfast was one of the worst we have had. We paid $330 per night for Fri/Sat in early November for a standard room. This was our last stop on a 28 day Italy vacation. The location is phenomenal. It’s right next to a famous gelato place. I had gelato from there three straight days. I could walk to the Spanish steps, Trevi fountain and maybe the colosseum (had mobility issues on trip). The room does have a Nespresso machine. That’s a plus. The room was clean and modern. It had enough space to put our luggage. The front desk was friendly and polite. I pay a hotel for access to a bed to get sleep. This hotel because of the loud noises didn’t deliver on what I paid for hence the two star review.

There are probably a thousand places to stay in Rome. Maybe more. So I’m not sure how I found Martivs but if you are reading this review — you found it as well. Look no further.|There are 19 rooms here. The hotel is tucked into a small courtyard which is quite nice in this very busy part of Rome. You are walking distance to many things including the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and many many restaurants and shops. |We stayed in the Deluxe Suite and it is fantastic. The staff here could not be more accommodating. The breakfasts are great. |If you are looking for a centrally located boutique hotel — you found it!

This is a great hotel with a superb location in a quiet area. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Service is impeccable. Continental breakfast is nothing much and a full english breakfast in addition is definately needed, but a bit pricey. This is my third stay here and I will for sure come back.

We adored our 3-night stay at the Martivs Private Suites. This intimate boutique hotel combines the charm of exposed antique ceilings with elegant modern design, thoughtfully executed. It’s hard to capture the grand scale of the 14-foot (4m) high ceilings in photos. Our room was a junior suite and was lovely, spacious and comfortable. The lighting was particularly sophisticated, with cove lighting at the ceiling, a cool edge-lit glass panel behind the bed, and plenty of task lighting. The large bathroom featured a lighted mirror and more cove lighting. The quality of furnishings and materials is very high, including polished black marble floors, bronze metal and mahogany wood. |On arriving we were warmly greeted. We had been caught in a rainstorm in Pisa the day before, and we asked if there was a laundry nearby where we could dry the wet clothes. Instead they took the clothes and laundered them for us for free! |The continental breakfast is not a buffet as usual but is brought to your table, which is nice. Specialty coffee is included. We ordered scrambled eggs several times, and they were delicious. |At 5:30 pm the bar opens. We had a great time ordering cocktails and chatting with Manuel, who is a wonderful bartender! Try the Moss cocktail, which is his own invention. |The location was perfect for us, with most of the attractions in walking distance. It was very handy having the popular Giolitti gelateria right next door. I also shopped at Davide Cenci across the street and bought a gorgeous handbag. |We would return in a heartbeat to this fabulous hotel!

The Martius Private Suite hotel in Roma was our final destination in a three week tour of Europe. We had the pleasure of staying there four nights. When planning our big trip, I was very surprised to find a hotel as stunning as this near the Piazza Navona, and in one of the most beautiful, calm and safe areas of Rome one could ask for. The Italian House of Representatives and Senate are nearby, and the neighbor hood is home to wealthy people, and security is commensurate. Wonderful restaurants and superb shopping galore within 100-200 yards. I completely scored on finding the Martius Private Suites. I could live there. | The website reveals its grandeur, but once you step inside the private 14’ tall, four inch thick massive gated entrance to the hotel, are you in for the treat of your life - unless you’re a billionaire and are used to the finest things on earth seen all day. I’m not. It is a treasured sanctuary. You will see. | Quiet, peaceful, tranquil and drop dead gorgeous, the Martius Private Suites Hotel was a destination of a lifetime. And I feel compelled to say it’s very affordable. | A facility of roughly 27 rooms, with amazing 18th c coffered 15’ ceilings throughout the hotel, including many enormous suites with 15’ 18th c frescoed ceilings, state of the art modern bathrooms and lighting, huge clerestory windows, refined new drapery, contemporary new furnishings and furniture, best Kingsize bed ever, 300 + thread count luxury bed linens, …we were in heaven. So glad we found this gem. Full service menus for breakfast and dinner in a stunning room, it is what I guess one would call a boutique hotel. And it is sparkling clean. Stunning. The coffered and frescoed ceilings are as intricate and stunning as the Villa Borghese . We didn’t want to leave. I’d like to stay two weeks. | I want to thank all of our hosts, the most wonderful and genuine people one would ever want to meet. Cheerful, very intelligent, very well educated, so nice to be with, calm, very well spoken and very good people, the hosts remind me of the slogan used by The Ritz-Carlton -“Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen.” | Thank you Lavinia, the welcoming, very charming and lovely manager of the hotel, (so great speaking with Lavinia); Daria and Beatrice, the elegant and sophisticated young ladies from the reception area that helped us with all planning, effortlessly; Manuel the very personable and precocious young bartender, who is planning a career in hospitality, and it is very clear that he is gifted; Luigi who invisibly and effortlessly managed anything we needed, Peter and Georgio, the very professional, friendly and helpful men from reception, Rene the cheerful morning breakfast Maitre D’ in tuxedo, Stephie (sp?) from housekeeping we met who maintains the facility like a royal palace, and lastly, Matteo, the afternoon host who is one of the most remarkable people we have ever met. Brilliant, speaks five languages, an enigmatic young man who has toured and studied languages in three continents, an incredible conversationalist, cheerful, really fun to speak with, a terrific sense of humor, very original, and whose inimitable character and humility is truly second to none. | We were honored to be your guests and thank you all for your cordial generosity. We owe you. We look forward to seeing you again soon and in the meantime, we wish you all good things, Gary and Lucile Gibbs, Visalia, CA||inimitable.

We stayed as a family in one of the suites in this authentically Roman hotel. The room was huge, the location was perfect and the staff were super friendly. The decor combines old and new so has something for everyone. The continental breakfast is served in a beautiful room by wonderful staff. Lavinia even provided amazing baby sitting services for my 6 year old son one afternoon. While the hotel is best described as boutique I can thoroughly recommend it - book a suite if you can!
