This place is an absolute gem! Spacious and comfortable rooms, top tier service, and an unbeatable location in the heart of Centro Storico. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the Pantheon and perfectly located to access all the main left bank historic sites and even within easy walking distance of Trastevere. The neighborhood is upscale, extremely safe, and full of shops, restaurants, and cafes (plus an excellent gelateria right next door). We were always happy to come back to our “hidden refuge” after days exploring Rome.||||The staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly and helpful, starting from the booking process. They were extremely responsive to my questions as we were considering the hotel, and sent helpful reminders and updates as our arrival date approached. At check-in, they upgraded one of our two rooms at no charge and arranged for early access to one of the rooms. During our stay, they made fantastic recommendations for local restaurants, helped book transportation, really helped take care of anything we needed. All the front desk staff were wonderful - Luigi, Beatrice, Daria, Giorgio (I’m sorry if I forgot anyone) - as was Rene who served us cheerfully at breakfast and Manuel the friendly bartender who made perhaps the best aperol spritz I had all week, and the housekeeping staff, particularly Amy who somehow cleaned and tidied our rooms every time we stepped out.||||The rooms are quite large for a central urban location, with a charming mix of historic architectural details like ceiling frescoes and modern amenities. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spotlessly clean with housekeeping at least twice a day.||||Given the central location and the high quality of the rooms and service, the price - while not cheap - is very reasonable. We researched accommodations for quite a while before selecting MPS and found it excellent value for money. It’s possible that the price is reasonable because this is a small boutique hotel (only 18 rooms) and therefore it does not have some of the amenities you might find in a larger hotel such as a gym, pool, spa, etc. MPS does, however, partner with nearby establishments if you need these services. For instance, I wanted a massage to help with back pain after a long overnight flight, and they booked me an appointment with an excellent nearby day spa (5 minutes walk) and even allowed me to charge the service to my room. I got the impression that the staff would go out of their way to help you find any service or amenity you might want that is not offered directly through the hotel.||||It’s also worth noting that the in-house restaurant / bar is small and has fairly limited options. A standard continental breakfast is included with the room rate, with a few optional add-ons, and there is a small room service menu. But with dozens of excellent restaurants within steps of the hotel, it’s unnecessary in my view to have a full-service restaurant in house. Who travels to Rome to eat in a hotel? We found the small restaurant / bar to be perfect for what we wanted - plenty of coffee and a light breakfast in the morning, plus a bar for the occasional aperitivo.||||If I were to make a small suggestion, it would be for the hotel to consider adding more efficient storage options to the rooms, such as hooks or shelves in the bathrooms and more drawers or shelving inside or in addition to the large closets (which did have plenty of room for hanging items). The rooms are spacious enough to add storage without compromising comfort. But this is really the only area I can think of for improvement and it is quite minor.||||Overall we were extremely happy with our stay at MPS and would recommend it without hesitation. It will certainly be my preferred hotel for any future visits to the Eternal City.
