We adored our 3-night stay at the Martivs Private Suites. This intimate boutique hotel combines the charm of exposed antique ceilings with elegant modern design, thoughtfully executed. It’s hard to capture the grand scale of the 14-foot (4m) high ceilings in photos. Our room was a junior suite and was lovely, spacious and comfortable. The lighting was particularly sophisticated, with cove lighting at the ceiling, a cool edge-lit glass panel behind the bed, and plenty of task lighting. The large bathroom featured a lighted mirror and more cove lighting. The quality of furnishings and materials is very high, including polished black marble floors, bronze metal and mahogany wood. |On arriving we were warmly greeted. We had been caught in a rainstorm in Pisa the day before, and we asked if there was a laundry nearby where we could dry the wet clothes. Instead they took the clothes and laundered them for us for free! |The continental breakfast is not a buffet as usual but is brought to your table, which is nice. Specialty coffee is included. We ordered scrambled eggs several times, and they were delicious. |At 5:30 pm the bar opens. We had a great time ordering cocktails and chatting with Manuel, who is a wonderful bartender! Try the Moss cocktail, which is his own invention. |The location was perfect for us, with most of the attractions in walking distance. It was very handy having the popular Giolitti gelateria right next door. I also shopped at Davide Cenci across the street and bought a gorgeous handbag. |We would return in a heartbeat to this fabulous hotel!
