The Martius Private Suite hotel in Roma was our final destination in a three week tour of Europe. We had the pleasure of staying there four nights. When planning our big trip, I was very surprised to find a hotel as stunning as this near the Piazza Navona, and in one of the most beautiful, calm and safe areas of Rome one could ask for. The Italian House of Representatives and Senate are nearby, and the neighbor hood is home to wealthy people, and security is commensurate. Wonderful restaurants and superb shopping galore within 100-200 yards. I completely scored on finding the Martius Private Suites. I could live there. | The website reveals its grandeur, but once you step inside the private 14’ tall, four inch thick massive gated entrance to the hotel, are you in for the treat of your life - unless you’re a billionaire and are used to the finest things on earth seen all day. I’m not. It is a treasured sanctuary. You will see. | Quiet, peaceful, tranquil and drop dead gorgeous, the Martius Private Suites Hotel was a destination of a lifetime. And I feel compelled to say it’s very affordable. | A facility of roughly 27 rooms, with amazing 18th c coffered 15’ ceilings throughout the hotel, including many enormous suites with 15’ 18th c frescoed ceilings, state of the art modern bathrooms and lighting, huge clerestory windows, refined new drapery, contemporary new furnishings and furniture, best Kingsize bed ever, 300 + thread count luxury bed linens, …we were in heaven. So glad we found this gem. Full service menus for breakfast and dinner in a stunning room, it is what I guess one would call a boutique hotel. And it is sparkling clean. Stunning. The coffered and frescoed ceilings are as intricate and stunning as the Villa Borghese . We didn’t want to leave. I’d like to stay two weeks. | I want to thank all of our hosts, the most wonderful and genuine people one would ever want to meet. Cheerful, very intelligent, very well educated, so nice to be with, calm, very well spoken and very good people, the hosts remind me of the slogan used by The Ritz-Carlton -“Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen.” | Thank you Lavinia, the welcoming, very charming and lovely manager of the hotel, (so great speaking with Lavinia); Daria and Beatrice, the elegant and sophisticated young ladies from the reception area that helped us with all planning, effortlessly; Manuel the very personable and precocious young bartender, who is planning a career in hospitality, and it is very clear that he is gifted; Luigi who invisibly and effortlessly managed anything we needed, Peter and Georgio, the very professional, friendly and helpful men from reception, Rene the cheerful morning breakfast Maitre D’ in tuxedo, Stephie (sp?) from housekeeping we met who maintains the facility like a royal palace, and lastly, Matteo, the afternoon host who is one of the most remarkable people we have ever met. Brilliant, speaks five languages, an enigmatic young man who has toured and studied languages in three continents, an incredible conversationalist, cheerful, really fun to speak with, a terrific sense of humor, very original, and whose inimitable character and humility is truly second to none. | We were honored to be your guests and thank you all for your cordial generosity. We owe you. We look forward to seeing you again soon and in the meantime, we wish you all good things, Gary and Lucile Gibbs, Visalia, CA||inimitable.
