Marty's Bar

Very chill atmosphere. It is not busy unless the other bars in town are closed or over crowded. But if you want a quiet environment to drink Marty’s is your spot. There are typically less than 12 people in there. Only downside is Marty’s has a weird smell. The bathroom is absolutely horrendous. It is very dirty. I have not had the food there yet but the fryer and other kitchen appliances look very dirty too. I personally would not get the food.

Bouncer at the front refused to let me in on the basis of a “fake I.D.”… I am 25. Repeatedly told him but he wasn’t having it. I like this place but this was ridiculous treatment after seeing him let in droves upon droves of EIU kids who were obviously underage. I walk up and instantly “nope, fake I.D. Bro”… come on guys. It’s my drivers license, it can’t be more obvious. I’m not sure I’ll ever go back here.

I love this bar so much! I had amazing service when I went, so shoutout to Bella for being an amazing bartender. I would recommend if you want to have a fun time. I also killed it in pool and darts, so if any of you guys need lesson hmu.

They will let random people use your tab without permission and refuse to help you. Terrible and rude staff.

This place was popping great service and a ton of people that were also having fun. Im much older but it was nice to be in a bar where it seemed like an actual party lol sooo that being said check this joint out young or old. Cause you just might catch a guy in a cowboy hat pissing on the street at the same time. Cheers!

I've been in Charleston since 2017, and finally decided to go in. The guy that was working was amazingly nice, and the burger I had was delicious! Definitely gonna be back!

An old favorite from my college days. I was back for Homecoming. The patio is new and apartments next to it are new. The panther is still out front, which is cool.

It's a decent bar. When the school starts, it's full especially during Friday and Saturday. Music is ok but it is repetitive

Brown haired girl that works saturday nights denied me a water of all things at 1:53 AM when they close at 2. A WATER?!!!! like do you want people to croak ?! idk man thats kinda messed up. more power to em' dont't remember her name. but sheeessh dont go to her

This place is soo dirty. We watched the bartender use a dirty cup for our shots and when asked to fix it she laughed at us. The bartenders are not trained and need to go back to studying to being the subpar, future educators. I feel bad for everyone who goes here.

Marty's has fantastic food. They have great deals on the food too, which keeps those frugal college students lining up outside. They have happy hour every Friday....which I used to frequent, because this place becomes Sorority and Frat HEAVEN after about 10 p.m. I go in for happy hour, have about 4-5 Long Islands and left before the madness occured. The DJ was sometimes a tool, he played some pretty cheesy songs every once in a while....but when he isn't there the place has pretty decent music going. Mainly because my friends and I would take over the Juke Box.... Always a good time at this place.... And please, just don't ride the panther when you leave. Seriously?

Extremely rude people at this place, especially the DJ! I went there on a night that was dead and went to the jukebox to play some tunes. Little did I know that they had a "DJ" that night (mainly because the so-called "DJ" didn't say anything and just played song after song, so it sounded like a jukebox). So I put a dollar in the jukebox and tried to play some music. Little did I know that they weren't using the jukebox. The rude staff at the bar didn't even put up a sign on the jukebox and noticed that I was using it. They could have mentioned a little "hey, it isn't on today, and you have to go to a DJ". Therefore I decided to ask for my dollar back, since the music that night was free. Yeah, it was only a dollar, but it was the principal that matter. The so-called DJ (who looked like a Chechen rebel) told the so-called bartender that he couldn't give me my dollar back and that I could "come back tomorrow and listen to the song I selected". Of course, the server, with an IQ of about 20, was dumb enough to tell me what he said. I went up to him and said "since I don't want to come back tomorrow, play my damn music". Luckily he did. Just the rudeness of this place is amazing. In addition to that, the so-called bartenders didn't know a damn thing about making drinks. The eye candy that they have as "bartenders" didn't even know what a 7-and-7 was. Really? I guess it only takes that IQ of 20 to pour pitchers of beer. But if you want something advanced, you need an IQ over 50!

Worst service I have ever experienced in charleston and the bartenders are very rude. One of the male bartenders only serviced the girls and ignored my request for a drink almost 5 times until I left. Poor

A little too frat-tastic for me... the people who go there are more of the Jersey Shore type.

Typical college bar, cheap drinks. There is a nice patio and its in a good location right off of campus.
