Where To Meet Up With Coworkers That Isn’t A Zoom Call - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you live within a half mile of Beverly Blvd. and Crescent Heights, you don’t just know what Marvito is, chances are, you’ve already been there twice this week and are coming with a date on Saturday. This is your Cheers. Marvito is the laid back, slightly cheaper, and most likely Gen Z sibling of Marvin, an upscale(ish), French(ish) restaurant packed with a great wine selection and lots of excellent finger foods. One of our favorite things on the menu here is a recent addition - a cheeseburger consisting of two smashed patties topped with red onion, avocado, mayo, lettuce, and Jack cheese. It’s a clean-tasting, crisp masterpiece, worthy of a solo meal, or catching up on a years-worth of gossip with a coworker." - kat hong

Honestly, I’m super pumped this place has finally opened. It’s gonna quickly become the intimate “iykyk” spot that this part of West Hollywood desperately needs. And what a vibe! The Instagram says it’s a “day dive bar meets psychedelic Honkey Tonk” but honestly there doesn’t seem to be anything “divey” about it. It feels more like if your neighbor opened up a speakeasy bar in the basement of their Mexican ranchero style house from the 1970s….complete with wood paneling, pendant lighting, and overpriced sound system(there’s a retro record player behind the bar, and it looked very expensive). And while Marvito could probably survive on this vibes theme alone in LA(at least for a little while) this place actually brings it. The menu isn’t solely Mexican, but rather Mexican-Americana…complete with burgers, a steak, and, oddly, a chicken piccata! 🤣 And what a chicken piccata it is! Probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Why is it on the menu?! No idea. But I’m glad the powers that be had the foresight to put it there. It is chef’s kiss.😘 Mexican dish standouts include ALL the tacos, the chile relleno, mushroom and chicken tinga quesadillas (they look like tacos and aren’t huge, but the flavors! 🤩) and the oysters. If you’ve never had Mexican style oysters before, start with these. As for the drinks, l’m in my mezcal era, so I tried a specialty cocktail, the “Semi-Mojo”, with passionfruit and jerk seasoning, and loved it. It’s the perfect combo of spicy, salty, smoky and sweet. My friends also enjoyed their cocktails, but I forgot what they were. The wine list, like their sister restaurant Marvin’s, is matched by few other restaurants in the area. I’m not a big wine guy, but it looked very legit. While a touch on the spendier side, I think you really get what you pay for here. I’ll definitely be coming back 1-2x a month for dinner and/or 2-3 a month for drinks and apps to soak in what LA and Marvito do best…envelope you in that distinct blend of high/low, Mexican/American, elevated/casual. Welcome to the hood Marvito. Let’s go!!

Loved everything about this place the moment we walked in! Think Joshua Tree meets old school diner…We tried four of the cocktails which were all so unique and delicious in their own way (don’t be fooled by their size). For food, we had the chips and guac, crispy shrimp tacos and crispy beef tacos. Definitely recommend the crispy beef! Perfect crunchy shell and so flavorful. Our server was also so knowledgeable on the menu and engaging. Looking forward to the next time Marvito ;)

Feels like you’re at a valley dive (in a cool vibe way). Def make a reservation. Very loud inside but comfortable booths. Food tasted great, but Ozempic friendly portions leave a lot to be desired. The quesadillas is actually a taco (just on its side) 20% automatic gratuity even for a party of 3, just a heads up. We did have OK service.

Marvito is one of those places you walk into and immediately know you picked the right spot. The vibe is fun and a little cinematic, almost like you wandered into a Tarantino scene. The cocktails are seriously good and the tacos are even better. The beef is rich and tender, the fish is crispy and fresh, and everything tastes thoughtfully done without being precious. Great atmosphere, great food, great drinks. Worth going out of your way for.

I’ve been to Marvito four times since they opened, and every visit has been a little different in the best way. You can stay on the tex-mex side of the menu (tuna tostada and crispy beef taco are both standouts), or go all in with the veal parmesan (favorite thing on the menu) and the chicken piccata (close second). The macho salad is always a win, and everything pairs well with their signature Marvarita (marg served up in a cocktail glass). The whole place just has a great energy without ever trying too hard. Each experience has been a hit so far.

Google
Marvito is an absolute gem. The energy hits the moment you walk in with great music, an easy crowd, and cocktails that deliver. The food is full of flavor and creativity while still feeling relaxed and unfussy. The staff keeps things light and welcoming and the whole night just flows. It's the kind of place you go for dinner and end up staying because everything feels right. Easily one of my favorite spots in West Hollywood.

I read a few bad reviews and was hesitant to go here, but it’s down the street from us, so we decided to try it and I thought it was delicious. The carne asada tacos were delicious and the guacamole was amazing. Some say it’s pricey, but imo the quality of the food was worth it. Alejandro was our server and he was amazing. It’s rare that I go out to eat and servers asks about my experience. Great service. Tasty food. I’ll be back.

Skip the exorbitant prices and small portions and go to a real Mexican owned restaurant that gives you rice and beans automatically. For the prices they charge and the portions they don’t provide they should at least be providing free chips and salsa. The margarita should be the best tasting drink on the menu given that it’s the featured cocktail, but it was very off. The portion sizes are small. The Tinga quesadilla was nothing larger than a taco. I will say the food tasted pretty good but the portions left us looking for the closest In-N-Out. Lastly, never will I ever return to a restaurant that automatically adds 20% gratuity for a party of 2. It was comical. We have not had an experience like this in a long time and we had hoped for better.

Yelp
This place scores very high on vibes and uniqueness. Menu also not what you expect but standouts were the crunchy beef taco and chicken piccata. Martinis were icy, delicious and hit. Hostesses were lovely, bartender cool. People on here love complaining about the chips costing money but have you ever paid for dinner rolls at a restaurant? Yeh, same idea. Support this place - it's one of the promising ones

Yelp
I had to check this place out at least once because I love checking out new places in the area. The service was great and everyone was friendly. Unfortunately like all the other reviews have said it's completely overpriced for trying to give "hole in the wall" decor and vibes, considering Halloween is over. We ordered a few drinks off the menu, ground beef tacos, chicken quesadilla (which is basically chicken taco) the extra small chips and salsa, fries, and a few sides. Granted it was more than enough food, it wasn't worth the fine dining high price tag. If this place offered a happy hour I'd be back because I live in the neighborhood. I'm glad I checked it out, but will most likely not be back.

Yelp
I really wanted to like it here. I was so excited about a new restaurant opening in the neighborhood. But it fell short in many ways. We were seated on the patio and service was spotty at best -- we had to flag down our waitress multiple times, never got more water, never were asked if we wanted more drinks. The food was just completely mediocre. Our drinks were fine. Neither was filled all the way and my friend's drink came in a plastic cup. We ordered a salad and some chips and guac -- the guac was laughably small (and was super expensive) and the salad was, again, fine. I spent $50 and left hungry. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
As a Weho resident I was really excited for this restaurant. I'm hoping the owners read the reviews and make some much-needed changes so that they can stay in business. We were seated side by side at a thin wooden rail literally in the parking lot. If they're going to use this deck rail as a table they need to put some kind of plexiglass up and install heaters. Besides being hit in the face the entire time with leaves and debris from the Santa Ana winds we were freezing. We had headlights in our face as Uber's drove in and out of the single parking space less than a foot from our food. The food is very expensive for the tiny portions that they are serving. You need to watch out for the charges they adding without telling you. For example, the taco plate which is literally $18 for two regular size tacos does not have any salsa or rice and beans. When I asked for some pico de gallo, they gave a tiny amount and then charged $4 extra without any heads up. So at $11 a taco I would never order again. The queso was tasty but again for $18 it was served in a small ramekin with a handful of chips. The one dish that was truly delicious and worth another visit if you can eat indoors is the chicken piccata. The last major issue and a complete turn off for us was that they add 20% gratuity without telling you and as a party of two in a small dive vibe Resturant it's simply not something you're expecting. I was adding another tip when my daughter happened to catch it last minute. I am sure that they are collecting 40% gratuity from the majority of people because it's so loud and people are cold and eager to get out and likely do not see the fine print. The food all tasted good but so does the food at three other Mexican restaurants within the same block or two. So make the drink and food portions respectable if you're going to charge those prices!!!!

Yelp
Came for a friend's birthday. Love the look and vibe of the restaurant. Margaritas (served in martini glasses) were strong. The food was fine but was surprised by the chip serving. No more than a kids side serving at chipotle and not any more memorable. Sort of laughable to serve that way. It was quite loud so lots of yelling over the music to have a conversation but still had a good time. Overall feels like it doesn't quite know what it wants to be. Is it fancy or is it lowkey? Do you want tacos or a $45 chicken parm and a thimble of queso? All options are on the dimly lit table.

Yelp
For all of you complaining about prices while also advocating for a $30 minimum wage: get used to it. I've been here a few times since they opened and have had nothing but great experiences. Quality food + service + weho's livable wage come with a price. I'll be back and I hope they thrive.

Yelp

Yelp
Sadly this place won't make it in West Hollywood, overly priced and the food just was not good. $100 per person for some greasy tacos a cocktail and a really bad Cesar salad. Chips? Try a handful in a tiny ramekin. Also, we double tipped as no one tells you they add a 20% surcharge. Fool me once.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place since I recently moved a few blocks away and walk past it often. Unfortunately, my expectations for a new neighborhood spot were completely let down. First, it was fairly busy, so we sat on the patio. We waited about 10 minutes before a server even approached us to offer water. When it finally arrived--another 10 minutes later--it was warm. Second, everything is overpriced. I ordered a margarita, which turned out to be the worst I've ever had. $20 for something I had to force myself to finish--no thanks. The food portions were also tiny for what they charge, making it far from worth the price. Lastly, it was just my partner and me dining, and they automatically added a 20% gratuity. We always tip, even for average service, but this felt excessive. The service we received definitely didn't justify an automatic 20% tip. Overall, disappointing experience. We won't be returning.

Yelp
I typically wouldn't review a place that I haven't even eaten at, but like others, I found the atmosphere shockingly unpleasant. I was really looking forward to this place, but it's honestly so nauseatingly loud--both music and guests--we had to leave (that decision was made easier by us sitting there waiting for almost 20 minutes without the host acknowledging us). Also, while I'm unable to review the food, I would echo others' opinions on the outrageous pricing--even given that we're in LA. Do yourself a favor and go around the block to Marix, a simple tex mex place that has a much more pleasant atmosphere, and much better service. Also, it's 2025 in Los Angeles...inexcusable to have nothing vegetarian on your menu.

Yelp
Great new addition to the neighborhood! Good cocktails. The menu seems random or things the chef is good at making, with a mixture of mainly Mexican and Italian. We tried a lot of the items as a group and were very happy with the food and overall vibes. Great music feels like you're in the 70s in Hollywood or Santa Barbara. Service was a little slow but it was packed, understandable. Standouts were the Chile Relleno and Chicken Piccata. Burger is also good! We love Marvito.

Sarah T.

Yelp
Marvito is amazing! We went with a group of friends, and ordered the crispy beef tacos to start, the Chicken Piccata (best thing on the menu!), the chile relleno, tortilla soup, mushroom quesadilla and the shrimp enchiladas. It's a fun spot with a lot of 70s charm, cozy booths and really good drinks! I recommend the Wehos if you like tequila. The churros for dessert are a must. It's a loud restaurant vibey place.

Danny E.

Yelp
Had an amazing meal here last night. Shrimp enchiladas, tuna tostada and chicken piccata are all on point. This is a hot spot - not a cheap dive so don't really understand the negative reviews. People don't complain when an upscale italian restaurant has $35 pasta, so not sure why people are complaining about expensive tacos. I asked the waiter and he said everything is locally sourced, the chef is buying all the produce at the farmers market. Marvito is amazing. pumped to come back soon.

Yelp
Well this was sort of a bummer. Went there with two friends. 6:30 reservation. Place is a real vibe. Made to look like an old-school Mexican joint. Steely Dan on the speakers. Great margarita. But then they bring out our mains before we finished our starters. Like, WAY before. Always a bad sign. Till you realize why: two hours into the meal, we have finished but are talking - 300 dollar bill by the by - and the hostess comes over to say could we leave? "We have a reservation after you and they have been waiting a while!" Huh? Who does this? I am from NYC and Boston and that is just not how they roll. I spend 300 and you show me the door because your rez cadence is off? Also you blow the pacing of starters to mains and then hustle me off the stage? Not cool. Not cool at all. Food was great but I just can't cotton to being treated like a chump. Will really have to mull a return or recommending to friends. Not. Cool. Get it together, Marvito. You might be the popular girl right now but if you don't treat the freshmen right you will end up not being invited to the prom!
