Trippiest Catholic Church I've been in since Saint Basil's Cathedral in Los Angeles in yje '70s. Pictures show how startling it is, but nothing comes close to the immensity of this building when seeing it in person.
The sacred Art all around, in so many places and forms makes your jaw drop. The windows on the side for the Crucifixion, the windows in back for The Creation, the bas relief of birds in flight that pretend the real birds that come in through the open doors and rest on the startling sculpture of Christ as El Hombre latino.
When I was there a service was going on, but want to go back and visit when I can roam around without disturbing. Place has been in better upkeep, but it really is an unusual experience to visit here.
