Located on St Georges Terrace at Allendale Square, Mary Street Bakery is a great spot to grab a coffee, sweet treat or a sandwich. They also have a great brekkie menu too. Whether you’re grabbing a takeaway on your way to work, or if you want to sit down and savour your meal, this place has something for everyone. I dropped by on Thursday before work. I hadn’t been in a while, and I’m pleased to say the food is still as good as ever. On my visit, I had a bacon and egg burger, and it was just what I needed to start my day. There was a slightly sweet flavour (which I’m assuming was BBQ sauce) that melded perfectly with the savoury flavours of the bacon and fried eggs. The bun was light and fluffy too and made for a really tasty burger all round. It had been a while since my last visit. One thing I discovered is that they now only do takeaways. But never fear, you still have the option to still sit inside while you enjoy your chosen treat. There’s also the option to sit outside in the uber funky courtyard. I definitely recommend sitting outside as you often get a nice breeze. Plus, it’s a great spot to sit and watch the world go by. I can highly recommend the donuts too, as in my view, this is why you come to Mary Street Bakery in the first place! They take donuts to a whole new level. My personal favourite is the salted caramel one. It’s absolutely delicious, with the sweet and salty flavours combining to make an absolute treat. They have a range of other donuts too, including jam, passionfruit and lemon maple pecan. Throw in the 100s and 1000s donut and you’re spoilt for choice. So good! The venue also serves up a selection of tarts, as well as a coconut oat slice. Oh, and then there are the dessert croissants! Almond and chocolate to be more precise. I haven’t tried them yet, but they look really tasty. For those with a more savoury palate, you can try one of the savoury muffins or scrolls. Otherwise, there’s the classic ham and cheese croissant – always a good option. Plus, there’s a selection of sandwiches and salads on offer too. They all look really good. The venue also caters to the health conscious, offering up options such as Bircher muesli, honey yoghurt, and granola, all packaged up and ready for those on the go. That said, I tried the Bircher muesli as a sit-down meal on Friday just gone, and it went down really well. So, I would thoroughly recommend this dish to anyone. Oh and of course, the coffee here is really good too. Always fresh and tasty, it gives you that boost of energy to kick start your day. So, if you’re ever in the city, head on down to Mary Street Bakery. It’s a really fun place where the staff are friendly and the food is tasty. They also have stores in City Beach, High Gate (the OG store, which I first visited around 2014/15!) West Leederville and in QV1. So, if you’re living in Perth, you’ll be able to satisfy those donut cravings whenever they kick in. My verdict? Worth a visit for the donuts alone 😊 Overall, Mary Street Bakery is a really fun place with a great variety of sweet and savoury options that will keep everyone happy.

Mary Bakery is a charming café tucked among the office buildings—perfect for takeaway coffee and baked goods in the city. While I didn’t dine in, the friendly staff helped grind fresh coffee beans for me to take home. I also picked up a delicious loaf of sourdough bread, along with an impressive selection of donuts and pastries. Ideal for a quick grab-and-go or a cozy break during the workday.

Lots of people raving about this place but to be honest, I was not wowed. The coffee was kind of average and I wouldn’t be going back for it. I got a raspberry and white chocolate muffin which was disappointing in that there were literally no raspberries in it. It’s a nice fluffy muffin though but just kind of…nothing. The yogurt and granola bowl was quite yummy with super crunchy granola on top.

The urban design of this shop gives it a very cool and energetic feel that matches the city pace. I was impressed by how the fresh smells of the kitchen filled the room the moment I walked in. The baked goods were very tasty and had a great texture that showed they were made with care. The staff are very fast at their jobs and keep the lines moving even during the busiest hours. It is a very reliable and modern spot to grab something delicious while you are on the go.

It is always busy here, but the staff work hard to keep everything moving smoothly. I love the smell of the fresh baking as soon as you walk through the door. The space has a very modern, urban feel that is great for people-watching. It feels like the heart of the morning rush in the city. I found the service to be very quick and friendly even with the large crowd.

Tried the plum elder flower tart and it’s pretty good. Cafe feels cozy on the inside. Worth a visit.

Unfortunately I was already 10 mins away before I checked my food. $10.50 in the bin as no matter where I bit into, there was the delicious taste of burnt bread. I am unsure how your server could think this was something acceptable to serve a customer, maybe some extra training is needed, a simple “sorry your food was burnt, we are making another one for you now, it’ll be a couple of minutes” would have sufficed.

This was not a great experience unfortunately. I ordered a long macchiato topped up with almond milk to have dine in. When the barista brought my coffee out, it was in a huge mug with a lot of milk and completely different to what I would usually receive ordering the same coffee at another cafe. When I asked if I could have a small coffee with less milk, the barista rather rudely responded “ If you want less milk, you have to ask for that” in a very rude tone. Feeling rather awkward and confused, I responded that I never asked for a large And the macchiato usually came in quite a small glass. He then proceeded to Explain the traditional macchiato was what I ordered, without even having been there at the time I had ordered. I disagreed with him and said that my order was a long macchiato topped up and that I wasn’t expecting or could not drink that much milk. No apology or any reasoning given, he Stormed away, Returning a moment later, placing a dollar On the table next to me and proceeding to make a coffee the right size. Pretty crappy service and feeling very Unwelcome. It was not a great experience
