Mary Bakery is a charming café tucked among the office buildings—perfect for takeaway coffee and baked goods in the city. While I didn’t dine in, the friendly staff helped grind fresh coffee beans for me to take home. I also picked up a delicious loaf of sourdough bread, along with an impressive selection of donuts and pastries. Ideal for a quick grab-and-go or a cozy break during the workday.

Lots of people raving about this place but to be honest, I was not wowed. The coffee was kind of average and I wouldn’t be going back for it. I got a raspberry and white chocolate muffin which was disappointing in that there were literally no raspberries in it. It’s a nice fluffy muffin though but just kind of…nothing. The yogurt and granola bowl was quite yummy with super crunchy granola on top.

This was not a great experience unfortunately. I ordered a long macchiato topped up with almond milk to have dine in. When the barista brought my coffee out, it was in a huge mug with a lot of milk and completely different to what I would usually receive ordering the same coffee at another cafe. When I asked if I could have a small coffee with less milk, the barista rather rudely responded “ If you want less milk, you have to ask for that” in a very rude tone. Feeling rather awkward and confused, I responded that I never asked for a large And the macchiato usually came in quite a small glass. He then proceeded to Explain the traditional macchiato was what I ordered, without even having been there at the time I had ordered. I disagreed with him and said that my order was a long macchiato topped up and that I wasn’t expecting or could not drink that much milk. No apology or any reasoning given, he Stormed away, Returning a moment later, placing a dollar On the table next to me and proceeding to make a coffee the right size. Pretty crappy service and feeling very Unwelcome. It was not a great experience

Tried the plum elder flower tart and it’s pretty good. Cafe feels cozy on the inside. Worth a visit.

Mary Street Bakery delivers a consistently top‑notch breakfast and bakery experience in the heart of the city. Their croissant bread & butter pudding is divine—rich, perfectly flaky, and utterly indulgent—and the smoked salmon croquettes pack wonderfully robust flavours. The coffee is reliable every time, with balanced blends that start the day on a strong note. Staff are efficient and genuinely warm, making it a welcoming stop for both an early office brew and a relaxed weekend treat. A true Perth institution with quality that never disappoints.

Unfortunately I was already 10 mins away before I checked my food. $10.50 in the bin as no matter where I bit into, there was the delicious taste of burnt bread. I am unsure how your server could think this was something acceptable to serve a customer, maybe some extra training is needed, a simple “sorry your food was burnt, we are making another one for you now, it’ll be a couple of minutes” would have sufficed.

Can recommend the special donut & the salted caramel donut. Really delicious. Coffee is good. The toasted chicken sandwich is also very nice. A couple of hiccups with ordering but the staff were quick to fix the problem & very attentive & professional. Very good overall & a fine option for coffee & snacks in the Perth CBD. Recommended

At 6:58 AM today, I was met with outright hostility from an older employee who curtly informed me the place wasn’t open yet. I wouldn’t have minded waiting the two minutes, but instead of offering me the chance to wait, he made it clear I wasn’t welcome. His blatant rudeness has me seriously questioning whether I’ll ever return. If you’re not ready to serve customers, don’t open the doors. To make matters worse, this week alone, I’ve had to wait 15 minutes - twice - for the cash machine to be turned on. Apparently, it’s fine to keep customers waiting that long, but heaven forbid you serve me two minutes early. The coffee is mediocre at best, and while the food is good, it’s wildly overpriced. Today’s appalling attitude just cost you a loyal, regular customer.
