Brigadeiro? What's that! Of course, I had to put my google glasses on and apparently they are like Brazilian truffles made from condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter etc. I remember vaguely eating it once way hey in the day, given to me from an old Brazilian roommate, and I thought it was "chewy".
However, the lovely man at the counter offered me a sample of the filling inside one of these bad babies and it was this paste/spread like looking thing...similar to I guess taking a swab at nutella for example. I tried it and it's really not chewy at all! What is my fake memory talking about? It was like a caramel like texture but minus the stickiness that comes with caramel. It was deep, rich, smooth, but stretchy if that makes sense.
SOLD! So I bought a box of 4. I will always indulge and splurge for something different and I have never seen a place that sells these guys. I asked for a recommendation and I was suggested fleur de sel and passion fruit. I ate them when I got home and as suggested as well, pop them for 10 minutes in the fridge so they retain their nice texture. It was really quite something. The passion fruit was so delicious and smooth but again, I will use the word "stretchy". It's not solid/crumbly/dense-y like a typical chocolate truffle at all, y'all just gotta try it for yourselves and you will see what I mean.
I highly recommend this spot for some unique confections , worth visiting the Danforth neighborhood and it's quite a quick ish walk from Woodbine station for any TTCers.
