Mary's Motel

The rooms aren’t very clean & require a good scrub down. Toilet area smells like urine & once I purchased Lysol wipes, they were black immediately. Lamps, walls, light fixtures, coffee maker, furniture, microwave, etc are all filthy. Fire alarm beeps every time you shower. Don’t walk around the units in socks if they’re carpeted. If you do stay, I’d suggest bringing your own towels—the ones provided are thinner than a paper towel. It’s impossible to get a hold of staff or front desk. Pool & hot tub need cleaning & sauna is broken. Their rates are the cheapest in town but not worth the savings. Stay anywhere else you can.

This hotel was very dirty! The carpets were stained, and wet in places, and the room smelled awful. The whole room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. We came to this motel as the price seemed good, but it was too high for the quality we got. Not only was the room disgusting, but the wifi also didn’t work. I do not recommend staying here unless there are no other options.

We always come to this motel as it is good value for a fraction of cost of big name hotels in Golden. Enjoy the outdoor pool and indoor hot tub after long travel. Regular room is just fine. Do not recommend the kitchenette, which costs more, but amenities are not really much more than regular room. The fridge is bigger, but the other "kitchen" items/inventory are lacking: cutlery missing pieces, 1 glass, residue on teflon fry pan, no kettle.

Helpful staff. For an overnight stay was in a great spot by the covered bridge. Yes it’s older place. It’s handy to down shops and a good bakery and it’s in a nice quiet area. For the price no major complaints. Met quite a few travellers

My stay at Mary's Motel was exactly what I needed. It's not a luxury hotel, but it's a solid, no-frills option for a quick stopover. The best part? It's dog-friendly! The room was clean, though it had a bit of that classic motel aroma upon entry. Ultimately, if you just need a clean place to sleep, Mary's Motel gets the job done.

Avoid This Motel at All Costs I stayed here for three nights and it was an absolute nightmare. The air conditioning and refrigerator were outdated and didn’t work as expected. Forget about the TV, telephone to the main office, and Internet—they were completely non-functional. There was no maid service for the first two days, despite multiple requests. On the third day, they finally agreed to clean the room. No breakfast service and when I asked about the bad service and utilities, they simply said, “This is expected as this is 2 star motel.” After all the complaints, they told me to leave and offered a refund. But how can someone just walk away from a trip to Banff that was planned six months in advance? The front office staff were rude and unhelpful throughout. If you’re planning a peaceful vacation, do yourself a favor—pay a little more and choose a place that values its guests.

Save your money! This is an expensive motel that's requires upgrading and better facilities. I slept on a bath towel as the sheets were stained 🤢. The jet tub was broken, and the shower head barely sprayed water. The worst motel we have ever stayed at, and the most expensive. The room was dirty and musty and needed a good clean. Our neighbor used the pool and said it was also dirty. The owner needs to put some effort into this place; he makes enough money for upgrades that's for sure.

For a budget motel it's adequate but still overpriced for the upkeep. Price of room was 150 I would not be complaining if was an 80 a night room. Old but some care has been taken. Sheet had some holes and indoor pool was noisy. Outside one ok. Customer service awesome! Place just needs a bit more attention.

Would rate less then 1 star if I could. I don't expect much from a cheap motel but WOW. Hair still in the shower from last guest food still in fridge also. Somehow even with all the doors and windows closed mosquitoes still get in. Room stinks, is filthy, couch and bed stained with I don't wanna know what. Ended up getting my air mattress ad blankets from my car and sleeping on them. Guy behind the counter was rude. If this is your only option for a hotel in Golden (as it was mine) save yourself the money and sleep in your car.

Uuughhh i hate writing bad reviews, but I hope this will save someone $130/night, and take a better motel in the area some business! the lady working the front desk was on her 3rd day, super new, and she was really nice, so the one star is for her! She was doing great given the amount of people that were in there complaining about their rooms etc! She was nice and friendly, and i am 100% positive that all of my complaints have to do with the housekeeping staff. *there was 1 towel in our room. no hand towels, face towels, bath mats etc. just one wimpy threadbare thing. when i opened it up, there was a crusty smear across it (I think/hope it was Alphagetty?!) so i took it to the front desk and showed her and asked for a full set of towels. She apologized and quickly went to the back and grabbed me a new one. Just one. Thankfully there was a lady in the waiting room who ALSO had no towels and had to come ask for some, so she was nice and gave me an extra from the stash she got. Yay! *another guest told me that there had been a large drug bust there the night before, in the room that she had just checked in to - when she got into the room it reeked, (not like marijuana, but like meth or something worse!) so she asked for a new room, and got a new one, however, when she went into that one, someone was already in there! So she was currently waiting for another (third) new room. Shitshow. *the pool was absolutely terrifying, but for some reason my travel partner decided to go for a swim. Upon getting out, he had 3 large welts/bites of some sort on his chest and back. (His own fault, i know. So gross.) *the housekeeping staff was rude. I asked front desk if could borrow their blow dryer, and she said someone from housekeeping would bring it right over. 40 minutes later, I flagged housekeeping down as he walked past my room, and he said i'd have to go get it from the guy in Room 151. Um. No. I don't think so. Can you imagine? Knock Knock - "Hi, stranger! It's my turn for the communal blowdryer!" No. So i told him "Um. No." and he went away, and in about 20 minutes, the nice man from Room 151 came over and gave me the blow dryer. Ugh. So weird. I have stayed in lots of motels, and i don't mind a bit of "character" or older furnishings/decor, etc - but i can't deal with half-assed stuff like 1 towel, toilet paper stuffed in the peep hole (wtf) ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M PAYING $130 / NIGHT! Anyways. The TV worked, so that was nice.

You get exactly what you pay for here, so the price is right. The room is not that clean, sheets look like they had not been changed from last guest, very wrinkly. But they had free wifi and cable TV and are within walking distance of great rest. So if you are looking for a cheap, decent enough place to stay, then this is your place. It could be worse that's for sure.

You know what - budget motels still can be good. We've stayed at a lot of places in Golden and If you accept that this place is not only affordable but crazy close to Whitetooth Brewery and launching distance to Kicking Horse, you'll find this place just fine. So we stayed here during the polar vortex from hell. The room we checked into felt "cold" and just couldn't get it warm. Not only did they move us right away, checked in several times afterwards to make sure we were comfortable and warm. Staff was very nice and helpful. Why only 3 stars? It's a budget motel! It's not the ritz. But it's a darn good one and we will definitely stay again. Recommend the deluxe rooms to have a bit more space and comfort.

Service was sooooo very friendly. TV took a bit understand but they coached me to get it working. I showed up late but likely seemed sketchy. No presumptions on their part, no problems caused. This place rocks !!!! Can't say enough good things. If you want mega cheap go to a hostel but if u require privacy this is the place to be, it can't be beat. I regret not catching the names of the staff but y'all are great. A++++++

I have stayed in many hotels around the world. I have to say this is the worst hotel room I have ever seen in North America. The front desk clerk was extremely rude and acted like he was doing me a favor. The room smelled horrible. The soap and shampoo were rancid, the toilet and bathtubs were dirty. The bedspread was filthy and the curtains were transparent. I had a bright light shining in my room all night. Stay away from this place and sleep in your car if you have to.

Nice enough place the twice that I've stayed for work. Both times my experience was nothing like the reviewers above. Also, price was very reasonable. Will stay there again.

I've never felt compelled to write an online review before - until I stayed at Mary's Motel. This motel was the worst motel I've ever stayed in. The carpet was razor thin and dirty. The towels were grey and worn down to almost nothing. The bathtub wouldn't drain. The mattress was droopy. The pillow cases had stains. It was a non-smoking room but it smelt of cigarettes. All the furniture was dirty and dated. I could go on... If the nightly rate was 55$ I wouldn't have been so disgusted but for 115$/night plus taxes I genuinely felt ripped off. This motel needs to be burnt down and be rebuilt. Its beyond repair. There are other very nice modern hotels available in Golden, albeit for more money but I'd say its worth it.

Great little place in the middle of mountains. The rooms had everything I was looking for and the guy at the front desk was so helpful. If I'm ever in Golden again, I'll stay here.

For 158$/night, no breakfast, no Splenda for coffee just the cheap crap, crappy ketchup package style shampoo, cheapest soap you can buy, worn out pillows and mattresses, wifi didn't work, tub didn't drain properly, sink stopper stuck, should be charging half as much...

We stoped for the night here after researching hotels in Golden on a bike trip through Canada. The rooms are nothing like the pictures on the internet. Terrible misrepresentation. Apparently they have remodeled a couple rooms so they could take the pictures. Bed springs squeak. Pillows are old worn out junk. There was mold around the tub in the bathroom. They have the fridge, microwave, tv and cable box all plugged into the same outlet. Great fire hazard. We would have left had we seen the rooms first!! There are good hotels in this town but this certainly isn't one of them!!
