Le Mas des Oules, Near Uzès, Provence, France - Explore & Book

"Our journey to this grand country hideaway, located in the Gard Provençal, has taken us along roads lined with plane trees, past vineyards and olive groves, through historic towns and over winding rivers. As we sweep past the blue gates of the terracotta-hued mas, through lavender- and jasmine-scented gardens, to our stylish home for the night, we feel a sense of utter contentment descend. It’s not long before we’re lounging on the grapevine-shaded terrace, a glass of locally produced wine in hand, entranced by the early summer sun as it dips behind the rolling Cévennes hills.Christophe and Christine took over ownership of this former farm and winery in 2018, and are incredibly warm, welcoming and enthusiastic hosts. The 8 elegant self-catering houses and apartments (sleeping up to 11) effortlessly weave contemporary décor in with the rejuvenated farmhouse fixtures. Now it's a place for everyone: we spotted a couple lazing by the communal pool, toddlers exploring the gardens, and friends engrossed in a game of boules. Spend your days sourcing supper at Uzès’ famous market, admiring the Roman Pont du Gard or taking day trips to the coast before cosying up on your private terrace. A real Provençal paradise. Highs Great-value 4*-rated 2- to 5-bedroom houses and apartments, ideal for families in search of a home from home or couples wanting a romantic retreatThe owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. We felt completely at ease and would have been quite happy if our flights home had been cancelled indefinitelyWell-equipped kitchens and industrial-inspired décor including bold prints, vintage maps and original artefacts from the farmAn authentic French setting - we loved driving between towns and visiting farm shops selling distinctive local produce: cherries, peaches, apricots, olives and trufflesWe could have stayed amongst the lavender-filled gardens for hours, watching dragonflies, splashing about the pool and perhaps occasionally playing boules Lows You’ll need a car to make the most of this spectacular area; Saint-Victor-des-Oules has oodles of character but no restaurants (but there is a daily bakery delivery service)Technology is limited: there are no in-room TVsDue to the layout, Jasmin is only suitable for children aged 8+ There’s a 7-night minimum stay during July and August (with a Saturday changeover day)Check the payment and cancellation policy carefully, a security deposit and cleaning fee is required" - Emily McDonnell

We stayed at Le Mas Des Oules with our two young boys (2 years and 9 months old), and it was perfect. ||Christophe and Christine were such friendly and wonderful hosts. They were around to help with any queries and provide helpful tips on what to do in the area. ||The apartment was great for our needs, with comfortable rooms and a sizeable living area, plus an outside terrace for meals. The pool is really great, also. It is close to lovely towns and villages to explore, as well as markets, and the Pont du Gard, which is beautiful and offers lovely hikes, plus river swimming for the whole family. ||I would highly recommend this as a place to stay, especially as a family. We will be coming back!

I stayed at Le Mas Des Oules for a wedding in late May. The place was a dream. Not a dream like Emily-in-Paris or A-Good-Year, you'll be glad to know. More...Lawrence-Durrell, Avignon-Quintet style. The roads leading to the property are lined by trees planted to provide shade for Napoleon's marching troops, with fields of gold and lavender breaking through the flanks. Arriving at the property is like finding the fountain of Provencal life. The wedding ceremony was in the garden, vows set against the towering forest. Exquisite dinner on white linen under string lights. The reception in the courtyard swept through double doors onto the dance floor, the pastis flowed. And the next day, the cold pool and southern sunshine were the perfect cure. Christophe and Christine were consummate hosts, relaxed but sensitive and attentive. Everything was in fine taste and good spirits, a beautiful place to have a beautiful time. Merci!

Beautiful, quiet, peaceful stay near many historical sites a short drive away. The beautiful French farm houses are very well designed - beautiful, clean, colorful.||Many attentive, thoughtful, unbiased recommendations were provided right away and were accessible via a special Le Mas des Oules website. We were particularly interested in the restaurants and there were some great suggestions.||Enjoy the beautiful grounds and spend the time to explore the local artists - pottery, biking, kayak, fresh produce, restaurants, etc.||Rooms|A very well designed modern farm house! We stayed in "Loft Jasmin" and the 2 bedrooms are quietly tucked upstairs, separately and comfortably. A full stocked kitchen, living room area. Right behind is an outdoor seating and a large walkable lawn. No TV, but this is for the best.||Nearby activities|Many beautiful, historical sites with wonderful culinary experience nearby! Very close are Pont du Gard (surprisingly fun 1/2 a day of activities instead of just a quick photo view), Uzès. We drove 45 min to Orange, Avignon. Nîmes is 40 minutes away. Have been before and would recommend Arles also, a little more than 1 hr away. A full list of hotels, restaurants including surprisingly many great ones and also Michelin rated ones, shops, markets, and other activities in the cities nearby are recommended so many quiet, peaceful days can be spent here.||Food & drinks|Breakfast basket can be ordered. Also a baker comes around if you want breads, croissants.

We spent 5 days here with our toddler in June. The property is perfect for roaming and enough variety to keep kiddos entertained (pool, pond, chickens, cats, garden space). Our room was well designed and bedding very comfortable - its quaint and has a nice country charm to the place. The location is great for day trips and we especially liked St Quentin as its close nad there is a nice variety of shops and food options - very relaxed for people with children. The hosts are also lovely people and support you with any questions and a bit of chat each day! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I recommend this place if you are looking for a authentic, comfortable and relaxed holiday to slow down and be in nature.

We just returned from our fourth stay at Mas des Oules and it continues to make us so happy. A home from home with stylish and comfortable rooms, a perfect pool, and a great location that's both remote and peaceful, but also connected to Uzes and St Quentin, both with good restaurants, bakeries and holiday friendly shopping for kids and adults. Christine and Christophe make all their guests, including the kids, feel so welcome.

My family and I spent a week at Le Mas des Oules in late August. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts, who had all kinds of suggestions for places to visit in the area. Our apartment was beautifully decorated and spacious enough for our family of four (my husband and I, our 25 year old son and our 17 year old daughter). Le Mas is a fantastic place in a fantastic location! We loved the pool, which is well-maintained and has many lounge chairs. We had a delicious meal at the hotel restaurant, watching an incredible sunset. On other nights, we enjoyed meals on our own little terrace. The gardens are beautiful. We loved that the local baker came every morning to sell delicious croissants, pain au chocolat and baguettes. Aside from the beauty of the accommodations, the location was our favorite area of the south of France. We rented canoes to paddle down the river to see the famous ancient Roman bridge; we spent a day in beautiful Avignon (about 45 minute drive away); we did another day trip to the Camargue area of France and to go to a beautiful beach on the ocean that was completely different than the Cote d'Azur (in a good way, quiet, not full of tourists - about an hour a half drive from Le Mas); we loved Uzes which is a five minute drive from Le Mas (one of the most beautiful towns in southern France, with a fantastic weekly market). It was a magical week, and we are anxious to return to this beautiful area and the wonderful accommodations at Le Mas des Oules.
