Masaaki's Sushi

Always amazing, Masaaki is an absolute genius with his wares and very gentle and friendly, always with a genuine smile and wave from the kitchen every time I come in. His sushi is sublime and I almost always surrender to a slice of matcha cheesecake. His inari is the best I’ve tasted in all of my travels.

Excellent food experience in quiet little Geeveston. I've been 3 times and it is always worth the visit, with new items on the menu each time. Lovely staff and always nice to see chef Masaaki smiling as he works. Probably the best sushi I've ever eaten (and I've had a lot). Such a treat!

You might be surprised to find authentic and delicious sushi in a small Tasmanian town, but that’s exactly what you’ll get in Geeveston. If you’re driving through, don’t miss the chance to stop by and grab some takeaway sushi—fresh, flavourful, and made with care. A hidden gem worth the detour!

Sushi was delicious, definitely the best Sushi in Tasmania. Highly Recommend the Sushi rolls, Sashimi cups and Sea Urchin. Rice were slightly undercooked and crunchy. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff but service was messy and slow. Queue starts at 11.45 am, be there early to get ahead. It is take away only but there is a nice park behind to enjoy your sushi.

My family and I were really fortunate to have had the opportunity to dine at Masaaki Sushi. Masaaki and his team made our dining experience extremely special. Although extremely busy, the team were very attentive and provided us with an exceptional dining experience. Nigiri and sushi were super fresh. Uni was the the best I have had. Thank you Masaaki and team, can't wait to be back.

Hands down the best sushi I've had outside of Japan and South Korea, best in Tasmania by far! Beautifully presented dishes, the freshest seafood prepared daily by Masaki in house, amazing care and attention to detail in every aspect. It's clear he puts so much love and pride into making sushi. If you've never tried this place, do yourself a favour and make the trip, just make sure to get in early as daily offerings sell out fast!

On the day is very busy with long, slow lines so I recommend ordering their tasting sets beforehand via the website. Seafood option can sell out by Friday. We got 2 vegetarian plates and 2 vegan plates.
