"On a rocky plateau overlooking the Dead Sea lies the 2,000-year-old cliff-top fortress of Masada. Next to Jerusalem, it is the most popular destination for tourists visiting Israel . In addition to its sheer natural beauty, Masada is also the setting of one of the most powerful and tragic stories in Jewish history. During the First Roman-Jewish War in 73 or 74 C.E., 960 Jewish zealots—men, women, and children—committed suicide on top of the mountain rather than submit tocapture by the Romans. Among the ruins are the Northern Palace, an ancient synagogue, and a Roman-style bathhouse with mosaic floors. The ascent to Masada can be done by cable car or by walking up the Snake Path, a moderate climb which should takearound an hour."

Visiting Masada National Park was truly one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the breathtaking views of the Judean Desert and the shimmering Dead Sea in the distance. The history of this place is nothing short of awe-inspiring — walking among the ancient ruins, I could almost feel the presence of those who lived here thousands of years ago. The preservation of the site is remarkable, and the information provided brings the past vividly to life. What struck me the most was the powerful sense of resilience and human spirit that Masada represents. Standing there, surrounded by such beauty and history, I felt a deep connection to the place and its legacy. If you have the chance to visit, do not hesitate — Masada National Park is not just a destination, it’s an unforgettable journey into history, nature, and inspiration. I will carry the memories of this visit with me forever.

Very hot day 107 F almost no one there but if you're in good shape you'll be fine. there's cold water at the top. we went everywhere and took lots of breaks.. the museum visit was okay, but was worth it for the experience.

It was hot but well worth the visit. Lots of amazing history, fantastic views, and a store with an extensive variety of cold drinks. Cable car ride to the top was exciting, although each gondola was crammed full of passengers so wear a mask if you wish to protect yourself.

Fascinating place with such an interesting history behind it. Well worth going , makes a huge difference if you have a good tour guide to provide you with the historical information as you go. The way they have excavated the ruins and then showed the additions is great. Helps give "you" a much better inside to how it once looked. Take plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially on a hot day. There is a gift shop and restaurant at the bottom as well as restrooms.

Ruins of a Dynasty, ruined by a greedy Kingdom. The great efforts of the excavation team brink back the lifestyle and architecture before 3000 years. Need full-day to go round, better to have a guide. Most importantly, do not visit during summer. Best to visit in winter.

I went up for the sunrise and going down at 7 (in June) was already super hot so idk how people do it during the day. Honestly I didn’t look at a lot of pictures what to expect up there. Drove up in complete darkness and got the light when I was 1/3 up the snake path and was amazed and it kept just getting more and more breathtaking. If you are hiking up keep in mind there is very little shade on the way up and up top they built a few shelters but most of it very open.

What more could you ask for? I mean air conditioning the ruins would be nice cause it was ridiculously hot when we were there 52°C. All joking aside, this park is worth every shekel. I highly encourage the morning walk up the snake path. It’s not for the faint of heart but it is worth it. Anything worth doing takes effort!

A great place with great history. Some elements are preserved quite well. Very beautiful view from the top. Funicular runs every 15 minutes. There is a shop on the lower level. There are toilets and cold water on the upper level. Convenient indoor parking free. You need comfortable shoes to walk on the rocks. Very hot. Also, you can watch short history movie before going up.
