"On a rocky plateau overlooking the Dead Sea lies the 2,000-year-old cliff-top fortress of Masada. Next to Jerusalem, it is the most popular destination for tourists visiting Israel . In addition to its sheer natural beauty, Masada is also the setting of one of the most powerful and tragic stories in Jewish history. During the First Roman-Jewish War in 73 or 74 C.E., 960 Jewish zealots—men, women, and children—committed suicide on top of the mountain rather than submit tocapture by the Romans. Among the ruins are the Northern Palace, an ancient synagogue, and a Roman-style bathhouse with mosaic floors. The ascent to Masada can be done by cable car or by walking up the Snake Path, a moderate climb which should takearound an hour."
A great place with great history. Some elements are preserved quite well. Very beautiful view from the top. Funicular runs every 15 minutes. There is a shop on the lower level. There are toilets and cold water on the upper level. Convenient indoor parking free. You need comfortable shoes to walk on the rocks. Very hot. Also, you can watch short history movie before going up.

It was hot but well worth the visit. Lots of amazing history, fantastic views, and a store with an extensive variety of cold drinks. Cable car ride to the top was exciting, although each gondola was crammed full of passengers so wear a mask if you wish to protect yourself.

Fascinating place with such an interesting history behind it. Well worth going , makes a huge difference if you have a good tour guide to provide you with the historical information as you go. The way they have excavated the ruins and then showed the additions is great. Helps give "you" a much better inside to how it once looked. Take plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially on a hot day. There is a gift shop and restaurant at the bottom as well as restrooms.

Such a cool experience. The path up is a bit challenging, and you might want to bring bug spray, there were a few flies that wouldn’t leave us alone.
The cable car is quick and convenient if you want a faster trip down or to slip the hike altogether.
Some parts of the ruins are well preserved and you can walk down into one of the cavernous cisterns.

Ruins of a Dynasty, ruined by a greedy Kingdom. The great efforts of the excavation team brink back the lifestyle and architecture before 3000 years.
Need full-day to go round, better to have a guide.
Most importantly, do not visit during summer. Best to visit in winter.

This was a great stop. The tram is cool. I think if I had more time I would have hiked up and taken the tram down. We missed a lot as we were on a time frame but you could easily spend half a day here. Lots to see in the top. Definitely worth the visit.

A beautiful heritage site situated at a height of about 500 m from surroundings. Since surroundings are 400-450 m below mean sea level, actual height of masada is less than 50 m from ASL. It is accessible by three routes. One Ramp (Roman Path), 2. Snake route and 3. Cable car. It is the ruins of Roman fortress, well maintained.
