Masaya Volcano

The lineup and wait times to get up to crater was extremely long, and once there, the views were mostly foggy and cloudy. Admission is $10 per person for tourists, which doesn’t feel worthwhile given the experience. The museum is outdated and lacks any interactive elements. Overall, I would not visit again and recommend exploring other activities in the area instead

Masaya volcano is again open! However they did explain that the crater did collapse last year and that is why it was closed for so long, it’s a little harder to see the magma inside now, but even just being there knowing it’s history was an amazing experience! If you arrive at sunset bring your patience because there is a line of cars outside to get into the park. I recommend going on a day it doesn’t rain, as there was a lot of smoke that was formed making it hard to see. But highly recommend!

The Vulcano is closed for unknown time because of activity. But you are still able to visit the baby volcano, with a nice view and the crater in the background 😜

One of Nicaragua “a must see place” for sure! Will enjoy the sightseeing from the gate up to the volcano crater, make sure to climb up the cross! Get to experience a natural wander in Central America,

Top tip; don't need a tour! You can easily drive yourself (if you have a car, no 4x4 needed) or get a taxi. We visited the volcano from Granada and can recommend doing this by sunset. The premises offer a few hikes but the main attraction is certainly the lava crater.

To visit this place you must be on a tour or by car. I saw information online that you can take a shuttle bus up from the entrance, so I headed there by local bus but could not get in. However, with the help of kind local people, we were able to visit the site safely. Thank you so much.

Watching the sunset at Masaya Volcano was a highlight of our 2 week Nicaraguan vacation We arrived around 4:00 pm and spent some time looking at the lava fields on the drive up. We chucked on the volcano and could see a little stream of lava in the central vent. Then we hiked up to to view the city of Managua as well. As the sun was setting we headed back to view the volcano after dark. The view was spectacular. Well worth a trip

Visited the park unfortunately the road to the crater was and has been closed for about 8 months. Still enjoyed my hike here.
