The mosque is absolutely stunning — one of the most beautiful landmarks in Medan and a must-see for anyone who appreciates architecture, culture, or history. From the outside, the building is breathtaking. The combination of white and green colors, the large domes, the detailed arches, and the elegant windows create a majestic and peaceful atmosphere. The architectural design blends Islamic, Indian, and Middle Eastern styles perfectly, making it stand out among all the buildings nearby. The surroundings are also clean, calm, and filled with a sense of serenity. There are tall trees and open spaces around the mosque, which make the area feel refreshing and spiritual at the same time. Even just sitting outside and observing the details of the structure gives a feeling of peace and admiration. Although I couldn’t enter, I could see how respectful and well-maintained everything was. The locals nearby were very kind and welcoming, and you can truly feel the cultural and religious importance of this place in the heart of Medan. If you’re visiting Medan, I highly recommend stopping by Masjid Raya Al Mashun — even if you can only see it from the outside. It’s not just a mosque; it’s a symbol of faith, beauty, and the rich heritage of North Sumatra. 🌿✨

Visiting Masjid Raya Al Mashun in Medan was a very special experience. The mosque is not only a place of worship but also a piece of art. The architecture inside is stunning, it features a Moroccan-style design, which makes it stand out from many other mosques in Indonesia. As a Moroccan myself, I felt proud and deeply connected seeing this style so far from home. It was a nice surprise and made the visit even more meaningful. The mosque is very clean and well-maintained, and i was welcomed by a friendly local guide who shared some history and details about the mosque, which added a lot to the experience. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Medan, whether for prayer or to appreciate the unique architecture.

Such a great mosque and a great place. Unfortunately for those who want to do isha prayer a bit late, you are just able to do it at the terrace because the door is locked

Incredibly stunning and pearls of Medan I can say.... Still standing strong after more then 115 years. Amazing Architecture where its built with moorish and cathedral style. The outlook exterior made you think that this building look like beautiful wedding cake. While inside interior have so much story to tell. It's symbolise Muslim community and the pure heart of Islam in Medan. Since it was built together with Istana Maimoon.... Most of the architectural are almost similar. One of the beautiful mosque in Asia and must visit place when you are in Medan. Absolutely beautiful mosque
