From the moment we stepped through the gates of Masseria Trapana, we felt like we’d arrived at a friend’s home, not just a place to stay. Surrounded by ancient olive trees, pomegranate trees, lemon groves, and beautifully restored stone buildings, the masseria has a quiet magic to it. It’s elegant without being pretentious, luxurious but still deeply authentic.||One of the most memorable parts of our stay was meeting Rob, the owner. He lives on the property and was genuinely one of the highlights of our time there. Rob’s an Australian expat who’s poured his heart into bringing this 200-year-old farmhouse back to life. He was incredibly open about the ups and downs of the restoration process, the challenge of learning Italian on the fly, and his vision for expanding with a second property nearby. His passion is infectious, and his easygoing nature made every conversation feel like catching up with an old friend.||Sunday Pizza Night was the heart of our stay; a relaxed, joyful evening where guests gathered under the stars to share incredible wood-fired pizza, wine, and stories. Although Rob was out with friends that night, he made the effort to come back and join us for girls’ night out. He jumped right in, and for that evening, he and I were honorary girls. It was spontaneous, fun, and perfectly in tune with the spirit of the place.||Masseria Trapanà isn’t just a beautiful retreat; it’s a living, breathing story. It’s about connection, community, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel seen and cared for. We left with full hearts, new friendships, and already dreaming about when we can return.||It was, without question, the highlight of our three weeks in Italy.

Don't hesitate, go immediately. You walk in and relax straight away, a weight lifts off the moment you pass through the gate and are greeted by the wonderful staff. Everything from there on out is a tasteful delight. The masseria is beautiful, and restored and designed very sensitively (there are some interesting books on the property about Masseria Trapana, trulli, and masseria in the region generally as well), and all the details you might expect in a quality hotel are carefully attended to. Our suite was perfect in every way.||We stayed for four nights as part of our honeymoon and were looked after so well by everyone there. Nothing was too much trouble and Gabriele in particular helped us so much in planning trips and excursions. And if you don't want to explore the region too much, the pool and spa are fantastic, the lunches and dinners in the lemon grove are special, and the food and wine are superb. There is a tight menu and every dish we had was excellent, prepared fresh and with care. Last and certainly not least the owner Rob is great fun, and a terrific and professional host, we learned a lot about the region from him and could have monopolised his time for hours.||We got the impression that everyone who stays enjoys a personalised and thoughtful experience and already planning our next visit - also the cats who live there are real characters. We felt comfortable and at peace, while also having a hugely fun time at Masseria Trapana, and hope everyone else does too. A delight.

Wonderful hotel, outstanding service. Extremely attentive staff – as soon as a few drops of rain fell, an employee immediately appeared at the pool with umbrellas. The guest is truly at the center of everything. The owner has a great eye for detail and is personally present. There are not many hotel experiences on this level.

Loved this place. Don’t usually post reviews of accommodation but this Masseria warrants being an exception. From start to finish nothing was too much trouble for the staff who delivered a top class service. The buildings have been tastefully developed retaining their character and excellent facilities have been added. Stayed for six nights so not a fleeting visit. Food was excellent, all meals, without exception. Grounds and rooms amazing. Highly recommended, we are well travelled and this has been added to our favourites list.

I’ve just spent the last four days at the most incredible place – Masseria Trapana – and it truly exceeded all expectations. The property is absolutely stunning, with every corner reflecting thoughtful design and meticulous attention to detail. From the serene gardens to the beautifully styled rooms, it’s clear that nothing has been overlooked.||Rob and his team were exceptional – warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable stay. Their hospitality went above and beyond, making this not just a holiday, but a truly unforgettable experience. I can’t recommend Masseria Trapana highly enough – it’s a slice of paradise.

Note: After writing the below review, the owner contacted me by email and stated he had instructed his lawyers in Rome to proceed against me to recover lost revenue.||||Amazing boutique hotel, but a very volatile, angry (you can read how he responds to other reviews which are not 5 star) and unpredictable owner. [Images of an email chain with the owner, Rob Potter Sanders can be viewed in Google Reviews.||||We stayed at Masseria Trapana 3 years ago and were blown away by how beautiful it was. Not everything was perfect - you get swarmed by flies/mosquitoes at the pool and the food wasn't great - a weird mix of Italian and Australian (the owner is Australian).||||When we decided we'd get married in Puglia, we contacted Masseria Trapana in October 2024, 20 months in advance of the wedding, and asked to book all of the rooms for two nights for our wedding party to stay (wedding booked at a separate venue) - it was confirmed on email that the owner had agreed to block all of the rooms for us, but that 2026 pricing was TBD. We asked at this stage if the Masseria required anything further from us, i.e. a deposit, or contract, but they did not ask for either. [Images of email chain in Google reviews to view].||||When we touched back in 7 months later (May 2025), and 12 months before our wedding, to ask, again, if they needed anything further from us and to get confirmation on the total number of rooms in the Masseria so that we could start informing our wedding guests, the owner (Rob) reneged on the 2 nights and said it was their hotel policy to do a minimum of 3 nights (their website has no booking policies, nor had they ever shared them with us) - when I politely reminded him of the written confirmation on the 2 nights, he decided he'd cancel our entire booking. [Imagines of email chain in Google reviews to view].||||I attempted to have a phone call with the owner to make sure he hadn't misunderstood or misinterpreted an email, but he didn't respond to my attempt, at which point we decided that not being guests in this hotel for such a special occasion would be best given his unpredictable and volatile nature.||||I'm sure if you're an influencer, travel blogger or travel journalist, Rob will pull out all of the stops, otherwise this is how he can interact with guests.||||Also - watch out for construction work/noise in 2026 too, with a solar farm potentially being built - this was disclosed to us directly by the owner via email, which can be viewed in Google reviews.

The most enjoyable part of our trip South was our time at Trapana. Morning coffee in the main house with Rosie keeping me company was priceless. Elegantly crafted , attention to details & the laid back vibe made for a memorable visit. We cannot wait to return. Thank you Rob & Gabrielle for everything. 💕
