Stopped by Massimo’s in the afternoon for ice cream and were impressed by the amaretto & tiramisu flavours — creamy, rich, and full of flavour. Note that you pre-order and pay at the register before collecting your ice cream, which keeps things flowing smoothly despite the crowds. Later in the evening, we returned for dinner with a booking. The experience began with complimentary dough balls, which were a nice touch. We shared the Chef’s Selection for our entrée — a generous variety of deli items that paired well together. For mains, we opted for a pizza. The base was beautifully crisp and the flavours worked well, though we found the burrata cheese on top a little overpowering for the rest of the ingredients. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The restaurant itself is very open-air, with plenty of fans but no air-conditioning — something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to the heat.

Enjoyed our dining experience here at Massimo! Need to make a booking or else you will not be able to find a seat at this restaurant. Great ambiance, and food did not take too long to arrive. Staff members are friendly and we enjoyed every dish ordered. Too full to even have their gelatos at the end so we decided to come back next day just to try their gelatos! Luckily the afternoon queue wasn’t as long as their dinner queue. We ordered a kids size and the serving is huge!! Unbelievable!! Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Bali!

At first glance, Massimo may appear to be a simple takeaway spot — but don’t be fooled. As you approach and peek inside, a warm, beautifully divided restaurant unfolds, full of charm and atmosphere. The food is truly excellent, with a wide selection of authentic Italian dishes — from handmade pasta to pizzas — all prepared with care and passion. The wine list features several well-chosen Italian labels, perfectly paired with the menu. Everything is made on-site using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and you can taste the difference in every bite. Adding to the authenticity, it’s not uncommon to see the owner himself enjoying a meal among the guests — a small but meaningful sign of the pride and love behind this place. Massimo is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience. A perfect place for a romantic evening, or simply a welcome change when you’ve had your fill of Balinese cuisine. A must-visit for food lovers in Bali.

Never failed 🫵🏾 The food is consistently delicious, and the gelato is absolutely amazing! 🍨 I especially love their welcome snack the grissini 🤤🤤🤤 but it’s only served from late afternoon to evening. The staff are friendly, and sometimes you can even spot the owner at the restaurant—briefing the team and warmly approaching guests. The only downside is that finding a parking spot for cars can be tricky. So, it’s better to come by motorbike or use an online taxi. If you’re coming in a group, reservations are highly recommended 👏🏽

Massimo - arguably the best italian rest’s in Bali! Ordered the pizza, pasta, and appetizer. It was truly a nice experience. Everything was delicious! The dough was crafted to perfection with crunchy outside texture but very fluffy and light inside. The pasta on the other hand was also cooked very nicely and seasoned to perfection. Definitely recommend to try this place out, but beware this place was often full booked.

Google
too many people and they should ban “testing” the flavour first to make it quicker. Cannot pay by qr or card if less than 50k. What a bummer. The waffle ice cream cost 40k and i cannot pay cashless :(((

Massimo Massimo Massimo. Molto Bello. You have grown more than a Beanstalk tree in 29 years in Sanur developing an establishment anyone who knows Italian good food should visit. Organic, home grown produce accompanied by skillfully crafted dishes provide for a range of mouth watering choices on a very extensive menu. It is Long. Massimo Italian Institution ( let's call it that ), has three areas. The front is unmissable for the lines of patrons vying for a bewildering choice of home made gelato. To the left, is the pizza "factory" busier than ever. The centre right section is lowly lit for more intimate dining experiences, where we were lucky enough to be seated. Running alongside the left wall is a long bar with stools where the artisans of alcohol and caffeine do their magic. The rear is brightly lit with some larger tables on a white tiled floor where groups can enjoy celebrations and birthdays ( with happy birthday played on Indonesian, if requested ). This is a highly tuned efficient operation with key staff micd up to relay information between various production teams. We ordered the burata entree plus garlic bread to share. It was perfect. Bombay sapphire GnT was AUD $9.50 and served with Schweppes tonic too! I ordered the evening special seafood gnocchi. It was amazing. Fresh clams and shrimp, right amount of oil and tomato. Great serving size. It was either that or Ossobucho..... But I wanted to try authentic gnocchi. This was not your typical "batch cooked special" . The serve time between dishes was spot on. Everything that can be, is hand made at Massimo and you can tell. Partner ordered the eggplant lasagne which was a low rise version of the typical wedge, but it was described as such. More plaudits. Massimo himself, the myth, ate his own dinner a table away from us. A pizza dough topped fish soup flambé. From humble beginnings, he has created an institution where future chefs are learning the right way to farm and cook and serve the best you can get outside Italy. Perhaps that Beanstalk tree is a direct path back home... AUD$88 for entree two mains 4 alcoholic beverages, cappuccino, and two desserts. ( Don't miss out on the array of desserts - all home made too, but I did say that, did t I? ). Outstanding value and experience. Best I've had in Sanur. Seek it out. Ignore Trip Advisor low ranking.

Queue was long for a weekday night (8 PM), but it moved quickly. The gelato was decent and affordable, but not the best. I found it too sweet, which made it tiring quickly—I couldn’t finish more than half of my two-flavor cone. Suggestion: Consider balancing the flavor selection, especially with less overpowering options. The flavors I chose were too rich and sweet, which overwhelmed the palate
