Best Things To Do at Bermuda's Hamilton Princess Beach Club - AFAR

"Located inside the Bermuda Botanical Gardens, the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art showcases works by some of the island's leading artists as well as artists from other countries who have been inspired by the archipelago. The only museum in the nation to be specifically constructed as one, the Masterworks boasts a collection whose unifying theme is the Bermudan islands, their way of life, and the sea that surrounds them. Works span from the early 1800s to the present day, and the genres are just as diverse—there’s an impressive selection of photography, a variety of sculptures, and well-known oil paintings. Some big names here include Marsden Hartley, Winslow Homer, and Georgia O’Keeffe. A calendar of temporary exhibitions complements the permanent offerings."

10 Best Museums in Bermuda | Condé Nast Traveler

"Before the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art was unveiled in 2008, Bermuda had no permanent home for its collection of island-inspired artwork from 19th-century masters such as Winslow Homer and Georgia O'Keeffe. That all changed when founder Tom Butterfield acquired a building that once functioned as an arrowroot processing plant, then kitted it out with Brazilian hardwood floors, state-of-the-art lighting, and a high-tech air-conditioning system. Today this stately art gallery, which is housed within the grassy confines of the Bermuda Botanical Gardens, is one of the island’s finest." - David LaHuta

Went here in conjunction with visiting the Botanical Gardens. Enjoyed the artwork and was thrilled to meet an artist who's work I'd seen elsewhere on the island volunteering here--chatting via email and will be purchasing from her--Jessica Mapstone.

The botanical garden was beautiful and peaceful, the gallery was nice. Small exhibits with beautiful pieces - guess we have been spoiled by the Art Gallery of Ontario.

A warm welcome and artisically prepared food at thus botanical- themed bistro. Attentive staff who take great pride in their service.

Alright, so I didn't actually go into the museum, as I had a nine month old baby with me who was overdue for a bottle and nap. However, I spent several minutes changing my daughter in the bathroom and then poking around the cafe and gift shop while waiting for the taxi to take my screaming offspring back to the hotel. In this brief glimpse, I feel like I actually got a pretty good feel for the art exhibits available at the museum (since they were represented in various forms in the gift shop) and for the nature of the organization more generally. The volunteers were incredibly friendly, tolerant, and enthusiastic about the organization. There were several pieces of news on display in the entryway that conveyed the museum has extensive community outreach programs and a diverse donor base. The art was beautiful, with a focus on Bermuda's landscape and people without coming across as clichéd or touristy. I particularly liked the "People of Bermuda" exhibit, which presented portraits of individuals who have contributed to Bermuda - ranging from premiers to a retired man who takes it upon himself to greet commuters every morning. So, in brief, I highly recommend this museum and organization, and will actually go there the next time I am in Bermuda!

The Masterworks (Museum of Bermuda Art) is primarily an art gallery related to Bermuda. It usually has one or two exhibitions on specific themes. Every two years local artists can enter Chairman price (fortunate for small island with so many great artists!) with excellent exposition and opportunity to sell their art works. The art usually includes paintings, photos, sculptures, movies, etc. There is a small gift shop with a room where local art products can be bought. You also can stop for coffee and light meal & sweets at Homer's Café (or whatever is the name of a café). Surrounding Masterworks is the lovely Bermuda Botanical Gardens. Masterworks is run for over a three decades by Tom Butterfield, with friendly and competent stuff, creating Bermuda Hidden Gem, so different from pink sand and turquoise oceanv(even more colorful). All exhibit openings are elegant and interesting. All art happening - revolving and refreshing! The Masterworks offer art classes for adults and children (especially afternoon program during the school year and art camps during the school breaks). My kids enjoyed art from age two on Art Tots classes and now can talk about Bermuda masters for hours, mention only the few : Winslow Homer, Georgia O'Keeffe, Charles Demuth, Jack Bush and Albert Gleizes (local and visiting artists, contemporary and from the past)! Highly recommended and inspirational place to visit!

Set in the Botanical Gardens, the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art showcases a collection of more than 1,500 pieces of Bermuda-inspired art dating from the 1700s to the present day. The museum has a permanent exhibit collection featuring works by Georgia O'Keeffe, Winslow Homer, Charles Demuth, Jack Bush, and Albert Gleizes. It rotates exhibits of contemporary Bermuda artists. Most of the Bermuda Collection has landscapes of the island and reflects the culture and people that call it home
