We stayed here in 2016 and thought it was pretty good then-with the recent upgrades it's outstanding. You get a big room, a decent sized bathroom, a patio, a table and chairs, a comfy chair, a fridge, and a huge bureau and closet. If you book early like I did, you get all this for $125/night in the spring. Bed is super comfy. We were in Trilobite so the lodge is around the corner-lots of options in the well run cafe or walk on over to the rim for more options. Sure it's basic I guess, but it's got tv and wifi and if it's not up to your standards the El Tovar is only about $600 more per night. It's the perfect place to stay IMO in a beautiful National Park.

Great location, convenient facilities, and friendly staff. However, I wouldn’t stay at this lodge again for several reasons. (1) Strange Smell: The room had an unusual smell that made it difficult for me to relax. It reminded me of formaldehyde or something similar, which affected my comfort and sleep quality. Instead of fully enjoying the beautiful nature of the Grand Canyon, I found it challenging to rest properly. (2) Unreliable Room Key: Last night, our room keys suddenly stopped working, and we couldn’t open the door. Although we received new keys upon request, no one explained what had happened. It was a very strange experience, and there was no apology from the staff. (3) Inconsistent Water Supply: The water supply fluctuated drastically depending on other guests’ usage. Additionally, the faucet in the restroom was leaking, and the button (or handle) was malfunctioning, making showering even more difficult. I was just hoping the water wouldn’t stop completely while I was showering. Please consider these factors carefully and decide whether this lodge is right for you based on your own preferences.

We had an excellent trip to the Grand Canyon and the Maswik Lodge. Outstanding visit to our National Park via Maswik lodge. Our room was clean and quiet. Good pizza at the pizza place, too. We'll be back!

We stayed in one of the new buildings with elevators which was very convenient. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and designed for comfort, making them a great choice for visitors seeking a relaxing retreat after a day of hiking or sightseeing. It was also quiet in the area. There were some on-site dining options though the selection was limited. The hotel is close to key amenities of the Grand Canyon which makes it an excellent base for exploring the area.

This was an inexpensive option in the park so I booked it. It was absolutely a great experience. The location is a quick 8 to 10 minute walk to the canyon. Easy parking and the rooms were fine, clean with everything you need. Lots of dining options which was a plus. everybody at the front was nice upon checkout, questions on the park, etc. My expectations were low but I would 100% recommend.

Google
Hotel located in the heart of the park accessible by car or bus. A bit on the expensive side 387$ a night for bed and breakfast,. We reserved for 4 , but it include just two breakfast. The restaurant is just ok and also expensive. More motel type than hotel. The rooms are clean even if a little old-fashioned. Otherwise attentive and helpful staff. Possibility of obtaining a map and information on the site visit.

Stayed in one of the newer buildings at Maswik lodge in the Grand Canyon. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The food hall next door had great options with ease of access after a long day. The lodge is close to the Bright Angel trail and access to Rim trail. Very happy with check-in and check-out process.

Google
Maswik Lodge was lovely. Clean, comfortable, convenient, quiet room. We especially appreciated the kitchenette which allowed us to address our specific food needs. All of the staff were friendly, approachable, and helpful.

Yelp
Just back from my sixth visit. Love it. Love it. Love it. Even the cafeteria. Love it. Love it. Love it. We don't eat fast food normally. But this is about the atmosphere and getting enough fuel to get outside to enjoy the view. The rooms are basic. But love it love it love. It's about expectations. If you want a spa package. Bell service. 5 star cuisine. I get it. Love that too. But not here. This is a roof over your head so you can get outside and enjoy the beauty that is the GRAND CANYON. You might have to ask for a towel. The WiFi probably won't exceed expectations. The cuisine at the "cafeteria" might dare I say taste like "cafeteria food". But please be nice. It's about where you are. What it's meant to native Americans, and what Mother Nature has gifted to us. Frankly the negative reviews are great comic relief. Unfortunately they hurt the service providers who are doing their best.

Yelp
First time at the Grand Canyon and I'm so glad we stayed inside the park! We opted to stay out later in the evening for the guided constellation walk which was so much fun, the volunteer was great at sharing the Greek mythology stories behind the stars. We even caught the sunrise the day we left! I doubt we would've done either if we stayed further out of the park. We checked in with no issues and I was pleasantly surprised by the room! I had looked online to see if there was a more updated lodge and this place fit the bill! It was early December so it had just started snowing a little bit and it was prettttty cold, so thankful that the heater and hot water worked nicely. Maybe we were tired from our long day but I slept pretty well! So well that I even got up before my alarm clock to go catch the sunrise! Yay! I'd stay here again and would recommend!

Brooke B.

Yelp
South Lodge rooms are horrible! The rooms reek of a 1985 Motel 6, seriously the smell is horrid, the room ambiance is so 1990s! Let's not get on their food, it's horrid my dog would never attempt to eat it. AAA should be ashamed of themselves for even endorsing this travisty! Only giving a star to post the review!

Yelp
We recommend staying at this establishment. At first glance it may be simple, but the the front desk staff is very welcoming and helpful. We were able to check-in when we arrived and the room was clean and comfortable. They have a simple food court but the food was delicious. We had tri-tip steak and BBQ ribs for dinner with corn. So good. Then we had these giant breakfast burritos for breakfast...crispy strips of bacon, mixed with scrambled eggs, rice, beans cheese and sausage...we were so surprised by the quality of the food and the care the cooks put into them.

Julie M.

Yelp
Clean place to stay in Grand Canyon Village area, less crowded and good parking. Be mindful: some rooms are second story and no elevator. If you have e accessibility issues, make sure you clarify a first story room. We also enjoyed the food court. The Grand Canton was packed with people for spring break. This was close, but just far enough away to have smaller crowds and be peaceful. We loved our balcony with view of the woods. They also have coffee in the food court at 6am to catch the sunrise. Win in my book.

Grahame G.

Yelp
Stayed here one night as part of the Grand Canyon Railroad package, which is very well organised. They take your bags from the train to your room, and pick them up again in the morning to put back on the train. Room facilities are basic, but perfectly adequate, and the beds were comfy enough. Accommodation is spread over quite a large area in separate buildings, so it's not one 'lodge' as you might expect. Meals are in a big do-it-yourself communal buffet-style canteen area in the main building, but there's enough choice for most folks. I was impressed by the pasta counter where you could pick your own mix of stuff and have it cooked for you on the spot. This same counter did eggs how you like them in the mornings.

John M.

Yelp
Pretty good place. FYI, the South rooms were built in 2022 and are much nicer than the North rooms, which are quite old and run down. It's almost like two totally different hotels.

Vichet O.

Yelp
Clean, conveniently located less than a half mile from the Bright Angel trailhead, there's a helpful cafeteria and gift shop across the lot, and the vending machines accept credit cards. You didn't come here for 5 star accommodations, yo. You came to witness magnificent natural beauty, the experience of which stirs a spirituality that struggles to be explained in words.

Jessica M.

Yelp
I don't want to give a bad review because the room was fine for a night but for the price, $314+ fees, it's pricey. I wanted folks to take note of how the website mentions 'South' and 'North' buildings. Any room reserved in the 'North' buildings will be in the outdated buildings. Your room will be clean, you may or may not get a parking spot near your building but you can't beat the location. It's in the GC park so you will need to pay to get into the park before even getting to the hotel to check in. There is construction on site, not sure if renovations are happening with the 'North' buildings.

Mo A.

Yelp
The rooms feel like staying in the barracks on an army base or like a summer camp from the early '80s that has never been updated. Aesthetically unimpressive. No such thing as complimentary coffee, bring $.

Frances N.

Yelp
Great place to stay! Clean rooms comfortable beds! Patio right off our rooms. Pleasant wait staff!

Jessica B.

Yelp
We stayed overnight at the Maswik lodge as part of our Grand Canyon railway tour package. While the facility is a bit outdated the functionality of the hotel rooms are not too bad. Our room was in one of the buildings near the train tracks so we had no buildings or anything behind us. Plus it was close to the bus line. The rooms are also a bit older looking so they could use some cosmetic updates. However we really enjoyed our back patio and the beds were not too bad. We would definitely stay here again if we do come back.

Judy C.

Yelp
35 of us on a National Parks tour are staying at Maswik Lodge in the older buildings, White Pine, Willow, and White Fir. The gnats are horrible! The unit door does not seal well and during the night all of these bugs entered our room. The bathroom wall and ceiling as well as the wall and ceiling by the door were covered with gnats. We opened the door and the outside of the door and the door's threshold were also covered in gnats. We talked to the customer service desk and they sent someone to spray, which they did and they also cleaned up the dead bugs. In talking to others in our group, some had their rooms sprayed, some were moved to different rooms, some had no issues with the bugs and our bus driver was basically told to deal with it. If you choose to stay here, bring a big can of bug spray.

Bryan C.

Yelp
We spent two nights at the lodge, and it was excellent. Beau, at the front desk, was exceptional! He gave us numerous recommendations and each was perfect. He really should be commended for his high work ethic and pleasant demeanor. The lodge was very clean. It must have had a recent upgrade because the elevators and hall carpets smelled brand new. The room was excellent. Every room has a balcony. We spent two nights there this week (February 15-17). The temps were from 22° at night and 45° during the day. There was snow on the ground, but driving was a breeze. I highly recommend the lodge, and experiencing the majestic beauty of the canyon.

Kristen M.

Yelp
For the price, this lodge is not worth it. The rooms are extremely noisy, you hear every sound happening all around you. If you want a good nights sleep, make sure you are not on the bottom floor, at a minimum. You will hear every step above you, toilets flushingi, the sound of kids crying across the hall, etc. the location is super convenient, but this lodge is way overpriced considering the lower quality of construction. Over the course of my stay, I tried to call the front desk more than once to ask them to do something about the people above me being so noisy. They did nothing. I also asked to change rooms due to the noise, and was ignored. Poor customer service on top of poor quality hotel. Don't waste your money here, you won't sleep a wink!

Sue B.

Yelp
This place is a dump. The rooms are shabby and dated. The tv is a small flat screen with fuzzy reception. There is no maid service. The room is stocked with just enough towels to last for the number of nights of your stay. When we arrived after our bus tour at 1pm, we were told the room would be ready between 2 and 4. Then we were assigned a room at the farthest end of the property upstairs. We booked this through the Amtrak Grand Canyon RR Tour. My advice - stay clear of the Maswik and avoid Amtrak Vacation packages.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Located in Grand Canyon Village, the Maswik Lodge is conveniently located near Grand Canyon, and there are free shuttles conveniently situated by the lobby that take you everywhere you need. There are food options in the lobby dining area, though these are limited. There's also a window where room service is an option. More varied food choices and alcoholic drinks are available via shuttle in the vicinity. Maswik rooms are comfy and large but greatly outdated. I read that there is an small updated area of the hotel. Staff are friendly and pricing is reasonable. If you are just interested in being conveniently located to the Canyon for a good price but still comfy, this place is for you. If wanting something a little more updated there are other hotel options in the Village. Also, close to Glagsyaff, Sedona, and local commercial areas for shopping and dining.

Karen L.

Yelp
Had a very pleasant stay at Maswik. Although not 'right on the rim' as are several other hotel choices placed right along the south rim, Maswik's accommodations consist of multiple two-story lodge type buildings set amongst the woods. It's just a short distance away from the rim (easily walkable). The room we booked was on the first floor of one of the multi-room lodge buildings opening to a small patio facing out into the trees. It was clean and spacious (and we appreciated the quiet). Polite and helpful staff. Not an 'upscale' hotel, but good value (hotels right on the rim are pricier).

Claudia R.

Yelp
Centrally located. Room clean, updated. Checking in was slow arrived at 2:45, told our room would be ready in an hour, and would alert us when ready. Finally went back at 5 to check. Had to restart process again. Finally got to room at 530. Housekeeping knocked on door at 8 am. An expensive price for a short stay.

Heather H.

Yelp
If you want a convenient place to stay IN the park, stay at the Maswik. It's not fancy but check in staff and cleaning staff are great and super helpful. We never had to drive anywhere. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and had no problem getting a roll a way bed. The only negative is food options just aren't that great. We ate at the Maswik lodge area and El Tovar (pricey) and neither were impressive. I'd suggest bringing as much food as you can.

Barry M.

Yelp
Rude staff. Forced us to walk with our luggage over a rough parking lot almost 200 yrds away. We are in our mid 70's. Waited a few hours to check in. Arranged by Amtrak Vacations. Buyer beware. Food availability was substandard. All fast food.

Shari M.

Yelp
First impressions... Kelli at the registration area was fantastic at recommending hikes to do in the park. The check in process was quick & easy. It would've been nice to have a microwave, otherwise, the rooms are spacious and very clean. It's nice that every room has a balcony and seating area. Nice food court area with different dining options. We chose to try the pizza at Maswick Pizza pub which was recommended by multiple people but we were not impressed . The pizza crust did not seem to be cooked thoroughly and the sauce was very strong on tomato paste.

Ben M.

Yelp
There's nothing that was glaringly offensive about the lodge but they do need to try a bit harder. For a place that's so close to the rim of one of the most amazing natural wonders our country has to offer, they have to up their game. We're a family of four from NJ that stayed here for two nights, which we would not do again. The room was dingy, poorly lit, and in need of a serious update. They were working on the sidewalks outside our room but the section was still open for rent, which means, we had to drag suitcases across a muddy construction site. Somebody should probably have had the common sense to close off those areas during construction. We had the buffet breakfast the first morning we were there. It left a lot to be desired. Pancakes were dense enough to be used as weapons if necessary: eggs were bland and cold; the coffee flavorless; and the sausage just simply not good. The upside is certainly the location and the fact that there were no glaring cleanliness issues, i.e. bugs, dirty sheets, or the like. The downside is everything else. Bottom line, this is the place to stay once you've exhausted all other reasonable options or if your only concern is staying within the park. I will reiterate that the location is great; everything else, not so much.

Har S.

Yelp
Do you like cold rubber? Do you like the taste of cardboard? If so get the rubber scrambled eggs and cardboard pancakes at the Maswik Cafeteria. I have gone to the Grand Canyon for decades. Never had such horrible and expensive crap as the other morning. We were with friends. The food ruined their visit from the East with us as my wife got ill in stomach, almost like food poisoning. I've read the comments here and sure the place is far away, sure they don't care as it is one time customers for 99.9% of time so quality is not a concern. However it sure as Heck presents a poor image of American food to the millions of international tourists that visit and if people become ill from the food then the restaurants better damn well care and be concerned about the dog food they are serving for human consumption (wouldn't want a dog to eat it either.) Also the distance from Flag or any other place shouldn't matter a single bit. I have had spectacular food far out in national parks in Africa. The reason the quality deserves NEGATIVE stars for a review is greed. The prices are stupid high and the quality stupid low. Our wonderful National Park Service should be ashamed of itself permitting this to continue.

Lori L.

Yelp
It was part of our Grand Canyon railway package so we didn't pay the normal rate. Our cabin was in the very end of the street and backed up to the forest and railroad. The only train that goes through is the train from Williams to The Grand Canyon so it only goes through twice. We saw a deer and elk right in the back yard. All the rooms come with a little patio and chairs and our room location even had a picnic bench. The only thing I didn't like was it was far away from the lobby.

J J.

Yelp
Very run down hotel/lodge. Next time we may try the El Tovar or not even stay at the park. First off the check in lady (Hispanic or Native American - didn't get her name) is horrible and doesn't explain anything. I'm Hispanic so if anyone is thinking it's a race thing, not at all. Her attitude was like whatever. The other employee next to us, helping a guest check in, was very informative to them, and luckily we were overhearing her to understand the process. Next the rooms seem worse than a shitty Motel 6. I feel like this place is a tweaker hotel. Can't see any channel on the TV. So grainy that you can't even make out a picture. If you are planning to visit, will definitely recommend not staying here, specially with kids.

Ted C.

Yelp
I don't regret spending the holidays at the Grand Canyon. HOWEVER, if I could go back and redo the trip I would DEFINITELY have paid more to stay at another lodging option, literally any other lodge would have been better for some many reasons. 1) Location: Maswik is the 'furthest' of the lodges from the South Rim, maybe this isn't an issue during the warmer months but when I went it meant a 15 minute trudge back to the room when it was cold, snowy, and the wind is blowing hard. 1A) also, when it's dark which is season immaterial, but that could be fixed with more lighting, it's not like I was too worried about getting mugged or anything but walking from the food court to the room was harrowing. 2) Facilities: It's old-that's the best way I can sum it up. The rooms definitely could use an upgrade/facelift/renovation. You name it, it needs it. The newest item besides the tv was the heating system which was probably redone 20 years ago at the latest. I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but I wasn't expecting to time travel every time I stepped in the door either. 3) Service: their 'front desk' is actually co-located in the food court. We arrived via the train and part of the package was that our bags would go directly to the room but we had carry-ons but we figured like any hotel they could hold our bags for us before our rooms were ready. We went to the lodge desk and there was a woman there who saw us, retreated to the back room-made eye contact with me as she was about to come back out and retreated again. I finally called out and asked for a bag check. She said, bags go directly to your room, and rooms aren't ready until later. I asked about holding our bags and she repeated her statement like a mantra. Until she relented and took our bags-I had to ask for a claim ticket. I wish I knew her name but she conspicuously didn't wear a name tag unlike all the other staff members. TLDR: pay the extra money to be closer, better housed and (hopefully) better served.

Sarah F.

Yelp
Clean rooms with lots of hot water and a short walk to the rim. The location was perfect. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable.

Agent D.

Yelp
We throughly enjoyed our stay (stayed 2 nights). The rooms were very clean and the bed was super comfy. Yes, they are a bit dated, but I like places with a bit of character to them. The lodge was within walking distance to the southern rim, so that was a plus. Front desk was super helpful and always available when I would phone them. We also enjoyed the picnic tables outside of our room. We brought stuff for breakfast like cereal and other nibbles. It was really nice to enjoy the surrounding nature. Can't beat those views and the deer in the morning!

Pearl T.

Yelp
Ok so Maswik South are the new lodges with the modern decor. We stayed in Burrow which is the building right next to the main check-in building and where the cafeteria and gift shop reside. Each room is nicely appointed with a full dresser, mini fridge, iron/ironing board (I wonder how often these will actually get used here???), safe (fits laptop), patio or balcony and hair dryer in the bathroom. Check in and check out were both fairly smooth. The staff seemed either bored or preoccupied though. When I arrived to check in, there was nobody waiting in line and two attendants at the front desk each behind a computer. There was no acknowledgement of me until I walked right up to one of the desks and stood there a moment. When I was finally acknowledged by the gentleman, he passed me off to another young lady to help me out next to him, who I guess was having a bad day or something. She checked me in fine but it was not a very welcoming feeling at all. Since the only room that was available to book when I made reservations was a king room, I requested a rollaway bed which is an additional $20/night. That was delivered later in the evening after I called to follow up. The room itself was clean and spacious enough for the three of us and the patio we had was a nice place for us to have coffee. Our patio faced another Maswik Lodge and we had a bit of a forest view so that was nice (the rooms on the other side of our building unfortunately had parking lot view and if you sat out on your patio you would be looking directly at the parked cars 8 feet away so I was really glad we got the room we did.) Proximity to the rim and Bright Angel Lodge and El Tovar Lodge was nice... easily walkable. Food at the cafeteria was not very good... especially the hot food. Tried the pot roast and the pizza and would probably recommend the pizza over the pot roast. The cole slaw and potato salad sides were pretty decent though. Surprisingly the veggie hummus wrap they offer if you are lucky enough to grab one while they are available in the refrigerated case, was tasty. Overall I enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would stay here again. Prices are reflective of staying inside the Grand Canyon.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Convenient when you're in Grand Canyon. There are typically a variety of things to eat from. This is a casual place to eat in a cafeteria setting. Great for just before or after a hike.

Sarah G.

Yelp
Very charming and reasonably priced hotel just 5 mins from the village and visitors center. Rooms are very old, but bedding is fresh and showers and hot so it felt plenty luxurious for the surroundings! The property has several smaller buildings with about 8-10 rooms each. Ample parking at each building. There is a central lobby with a great gift shop and food court (more of a cafeteria than food court as it is not multiple restaurant options). Bonus, great tunes in the food court. We will absolutely be back.

Sharon W.

Yelp
We stayed in the new section of this lodge and had zero complaints! It was spotlessly clean and completely modern and up to date. Our room featured a gigantic balcony as we were the last room in the hallway before the storage closet, vending and elevator stack. I loved the proximity to the rim trail, although I do agree with other posters that mentioned how DARK it gets at night. Check in was a breeze and the room was dead silent for an excellent night of rest. The shower was downright luxurious, which was much welcomed after a day of hiking.

Camille O.

Yelp
I'm a 50 year old woman who is a very respectful and avid traveler. Tonight I have just had the worst and deemining experience at the Maswik Pizza & Pub. (I will make a side note that we were a party of 5 speaking in Spanish, and were talking in a normal volume, no rowdiness.) This Karen treated me awful and even called me drunk when I hadn't drank a drop of alcohol! It was 6:15pm and was just entering to join my family. They were there like 50 mins before me. I promise you, all I did was enter the place and walked to my family at the bar. I was about to sit and join them when she looked at me and VERY rudely told me "you can't sit there, your group is too big". I proceeded to tell her that I did not know that and I would move. I sat at a table and the other server apologized and served me a beer. She came over took my beer away and said "you are drunk leave". I was stunned and said "I hadn't had a drink all day" when I told her that, she said "just go or I'll call the police. People! The hotel is super nice and the staff is friendly. But that women at the Pizza Pub was extremely rude and even threatened to call the police on me. She called the security guard and they dismissed her and THEY called her a Karen, said she had done this before and apologized for the inciden, even the front desk staff also apologized. They clearly saw I was sober and my family was being respectful at all times. The other young server was super nice and apologized but the damage to our evening was done. This experience is the worst I have ever had in 50 years of life! I am a college professor and from now on I will educate about not entering the Maswik lodge, because they allow incidents like these to continue. You can stay at the lodge if you desire but beware of the Karen at the PIzza place.

David P.

Yelp
We stayed in April 2023 in the Burrow unit just behind the main lodge. It is one of several fully rebuilt units that are designed like a mid-priced Hilton. So, you can concentrate on the negatives: no daily maid service, a food court that is okay but not a restaurant, and a cost like a 5 star hotel, which it isn't. Or, you can focus on the positives: a clean modern room, great location in the 2d busiest National Park, and easy food options. Yes, I would like to pay less. No, I don't want to drive 60 miles to get a better hotel. So, I'm very happy with our choice and would do it again. And dinner at El Tovar was a plus.

Michael W.

Yelp
Although this is a pricey establishment, it operates in one of world greatest wonder. For a national park, it has all the comforts and amenities that are needed. Our plans were to see all the view points and light hiking. This establishment was helpful to provide information and maps. The location provides access to blue line bus and 10 minutes away access to red line route, Access to these buses facilitated the access to the view points by hopping on and off rim routes. Every 10 minutes there will be another bus. The hermit view - red route - are restricted and public vehicles are not allowed. The bus is the only means of transportation. The desert view route has no bus and can only e access by vehicles. As noted, this establishment caters to folks who are viewing the incredible canyon, hiking, seeing birds, elks,... No pool to lay around, no fancy restaurants or wild entertainments.

Yelp
My family stayed at Maswik Lodge for 3 nights. The room is spacious & clean. It has a small fridge in the room which was very useful for all my fruits & snacks. My room has a beautiful view of the forest. I wish we have a microwave in the room to warm up food. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay here very much. On one of the night we had rain then snow, which was a big bonus for me. The scenery of snowing in the Grand Canyon was breathtaking. I paid a total of $1058 from 5/4-5/7/24 which was much less expensive than the following weeks. I met Venice, the cutest, friendliest young house keeper during my stay here. We didn't need any house keeping services during our stay, but every time she sees me she would give me her sweetest smile and greeted me & wishing me a wonderful time at the Grand Canyon. I hope Maswik manager read this review & give her a good performance evaluation & a good raise. She definitely made my stay more enjoyable at the Maswik!

Yelp
I had one of the worst experiences staying at this hotel. When we tried to shower in the morning, we discovered hairs all over the bathroom. Then, we called the front desk about the issue, they said they would send someone to clean the bathroom only. We informed them we will be back by noon and they said it will be cleaned. When we are back, the bathroom was not cleaned still and we still found hair in the bath tiles, and there is in additional a black glove that was not our garbage. When we talked to the front desk manager, she suggested that an investigation was done and the room is clean. She also suggested that this is the job of housekeeping and she has no control over what they do. She was also very dismissive of our issue, and refused to take a look at the photos of the issues we identified. She threatened us to cancel our reservation because we kept complaining and they had already fixed the problem. I highly recommend against staying at this property.

Yelp
We stayed here two nights. Lodge room was decently clean but dated and our room wreaked of marijuana which was a turnoff. Im pro marijuana but I personally don't blaze and they could easily spray some air neutralizer. Staff was ok but not friendly and the pizza kitchen was horrible! We tried the so called bbq spot also in the food court and also horrible. I tried to respectfully talk to the toothless head chef about maybe improving the poor quality ingredients and was met with hostility. Its ok, I was expecting that but Im the type of guy that speaks up when I pay good $ for bad food that can be improved. The only real plus is the gorgeous location. Unfortunately its best to Just bring your own food. We tried the steak house and a few other spots and and everything in the South rim park sucks!

Yelp
If you have a person in your party with physical disabilities, be aware that this lodge covers a tremendous amount of land in several buildings. There is ONE person available to take people needing ADA accommodations to their rooms and that person also gives tours, so they weren't available to take my elderly father to his room. Prior to making this reservation we were told there would be no problem requesting ADA transportation and that was not the case.

Yelp
I had no idea what to expect of Maswick Lodge. This was my first trip to the Grand Canyon and I had first booked a hotel in Tusayan but upon more research I decided to stay in the park and book a room in the Maswik South Lodge. I'm so glad I made the switch! We didn't leave the park during our two night stay. The rim was a five minute walk up the road and it was great to be able to walk back and forth to the canyon and room/car so easily to change when it rained, grab snacks, take a break, etc. The rooms were clean and the balcony was wonderful to sit on and get fresh air into the room. The only downside was the spotty Wi-Fi but I can't complain since it's so close to the Grand Canyon. Seems like most people have an issue with the cafeteria at Maswik and it's not great but also not terrible. At least it's open for the majority of the day and there are different options each day for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It's a bit overpriced but convenient. You'll find better food in the village and outside the park. There's also a nice gift shop in the main lodge with a fudge shop. Grand Canyon Lodges Tours also has a desk here to book any tours and activities. We did a bus tour of Desert View which was a four hour tour for $80/person. Anyone can easily drive this tour using their personal vehicle but you won't get the same information, so up to you whether you want to spend the money or not. There are free shuttles that take you to different stops along the canyon which is a great option, especially if it's raining. Enjoy!

Yelp
My family and i stayed one night at this place... and it was just about all i could handle ! We tried checking in at 12, but were told because checkout was at 3, we would not have a ready room until 5. We rode the train up, so we were kinda stuck. They let us store our bags at the desk which was nice. The girl who was helping us was very kind and was nice enough to flirt back with my boyfriend who was flirting with her. He flirts with everyone, literally. They were able to let us into our room around 3:45 which was great because we had spent the time between arrival And then taking the bus along the canyon to sight see. I was starving.... So we hit the "food" area inside the main lodge. Everything in this cafeteria was microwaved for 8-19 minutes too long, leaving it either charred tough and lifeless.... Or soggy and gooey. VERY. BAD. FOOD. this is the only vacation i have ever lost weight on. The next day my family went to explore while i stayed behind in the room with the baby. Around 11 someone came to tell me i was supposed to check out?! The flirty nice gurl the day before said checkout was at 3?? So she called the room and at this point i was very annoyed because i hadn't eaten in days (the food at the other hotel was also garbage) my baby was refusing naps, and my boyfriend was being a total pain. When she started telling me checkout was at 11 i kinda saw red and said "DO you not remember us??? You were flirting with my boyfriend and said checkout was AT 3!!!!!!" Which i now see was uncalled for. Because like i said, my boyfriend was flirting with her first, and she was just a nice girl. She said she remembered me and apologized... and let us check out at 3. The food here is bad, so please pack your own snacks unless you want to snap at some poor unsuspecting person who is just doing their job.

Yelp
I've visited the Maswik Store twice and was helped both times by Sheree Henson. Man, she knows her stuff! She knew the items in the store and what I could buy throughout the South Rim without even blinking and, sadly, she told me I could not buy a rim-rim-rim patch in the park. She explained why and then shared a plethora of other facts about the park. She's in the wrong profession; she should be ranger! When I came the second time, she was friendly again and even referred to maps to help me find a great place to stage my car for hiking up the South Kaibab Trail. Given the quality and knowledge of the staff and the mass of items available in the store, you can't beat it!

Yelp
This place is a dump! The window coverings are falling off the walls. The place hasn't been updated since God was a boy! I feel totally ripped off by the Grand Canyon Railway package. A cheap motel would be better than this old tired worn out dump! Take my advice stay elsewhere!

Yelp
Incredibly dated room, not located close to the rim like the other hotels. Active construction for new buildings which made for a lot of noise and mess. The person who checked us in was clearly angry about something unrelated but took it out on me. Wouldn't answer questions about parking or laundry. The room was not completely cleaned and the rollaway was filthy. Attendant who brought us the bedding for the rollaway was kind and helpful. Walking paths from the parking lot into the room we're not cleaned or salted, ice from a storm days earlier was still around. We left a night early as we were not comfortable here given pandemic conditions. (And we've been traveling 5 days, no issues with other hotels) The Grand Canyon is amazing, but Maswik is awful. Pick another hotel.

Yelp
The hotel rooms are very nice. Lexi at the front desk was very welcoming and had great energy. The downside to the Maswik lodge is the food options. The food court is pathetic. Some people waited 30 minutes to order pizza and another hour plus to get it. They really need better food options all across the Grand Canyon Village. Pack your snacks, or drive out of the park to Plaza Bonita for Mexican food for dinner. There are two restaurants at other hotels that take reservations. You'll need to make a reservation months before your arrival at the village.

Yelp
Rooms are older but comfortable. Clean and well maintained. Heat works great but you get two oscillating fans rather than Air Conditioning. Actually gets chilly this time of year so that's fine. Decent food options but no actual restaurant. Burgers, sandwiches, pizza and a few other choices. Only the pizza place remains open after 9:30pm, so keep that in mind. It closes at 11:30. There is a free shuttle that stops in front that will take you to many of the sites or you can transfer to other shuttles. I'd recommend it.

Yelp
My wife and I took the train up for the package deal. (We're both 65) One night only. Our bags were delivered to the room while we were on the bus tour. When we checked in, our room was very far in the corner (this complex is huge) You really need a car to get around, just to go eat at the very disappointing cafeteria. My wife has a hard time walking hence the bus tour. The room was just ok, spotty wifi and the TV was fuzzy. We could open the window which was nice. The food is bad, real bad for the price. Cafeteria style, No plates, only little boxes. We both had Bar B que. Could not finish due to being cold and dried out. We expected tourist prices (everything is expensive) but $55 for two, c'mon. Breakfast was just as bad. We couldn't go anywhere else since we had no car. We wanted to take the sunset bus tour. Went to the concierge to get the tour and he handed us a bus schedule and do it online (he was sitting behind a computer). No more info then that. We later found out we needed to make reservations ahead of time. Why didn't he just tell us. We tried complaining to the manager about the long walk, but he couldn't do anything. He did tell us his golf cart has a flat, I had no time for jokes. We will come again The Grand Canyon is wonder to take in. Breathtaking to say the least. I f you decide to come, Don't stay at the Maswick.
