Mata Rocks By Barefoot

Cozy resort, only 17 rooms. Our room was #7, right by pool. Everything was clean, cozy and cool. King bed, firm but had a nice fluffy topper on it. Nice little kitchenette to make breakfast in. Bathroom with what you need, but no fan or ability to open a window, so pack air freshener/odor drops to deal with the usual. Oh and FYI, toilet paper is not flushed anywhere on the island. We brought small garbage bags to keep things tied up and contained. 😉 Only negative for me was that the floor/ceilings are kinda thin... The family above us sounded like wrestle mania was going on at times. So I suggest a top floor room or ear plugs if that kind of thing would get on your nerves. 😉 Nice little pool to cool off in. Lounge chairs and umbrellas on deck. Bar serves breakfast lunch and dinner. Smaller menu, but good food. Javier and James keep the drinks flowing, the conversation going and the TV tuned to whatever you ask for. Max the neighbor dog, likes to come by and get pets and snacks. Beach area has lounge chairs to relax in and shady grass umbrellas too when you want it. Dock to fish and swim from or get picked up by certain tour operators. Nice, clean, simple resort. A great place to plan all your adventures from.

This resort was absolutely amazing! Every aspect exceeded our expectations! Food tasted fresh and was affordable. We ate at several other restaurants around town and by far the best fish and chips! The location is close to town but far enough away to feel secluded. The staff, especially Javier, went above and beyond to give us great service and a personal experience. He remembered our names and drink orders and preferences. He addressed us by name everytime he saw us. They made sure we had a ride to and from the airport. The have an amazing resort dog named Max, who is so friendly and an highlight of the stay. Every need we had was met and exceeded. I can not say enough good things about our stay! I highly recommend this property if you are in San Pedro

My mother whom is 75 and myself stayed here and really enjoyed our stay! Javier and Ernesto, went above and beyond! They were welcoming, understanding, and very accommodating. You can tell they really want to make this place into something extraordinary, which shined through with their high-level of customer service. We felt welcomed, valued, and at home here. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place where they feel safe, valued, and respected. Plus, look at the view! They’re wrapping up construction and we’re excited to try their pickle ball courts when we return, plus their view once construction is completed (should be any day now) is going to be amazing! Staff incredible. Great food and beverage onsite. Pool and little shade roofs with tables and lounges on the beach. So relaxing and fun. Beds are like sleeping in clouds. Location is near town, but consider turning left to visit the local scene also. We will be back often.

It’s clear this property is loved and well cared for. It’s a small operation, seeing the same staff everyday helped them get to know us. They helped with recommendations and setting up golf cart rental delivery. The pool is undergoing a renovation and should be done very soon, it looks like it’ll be nice. There is a dog that visits the bar named Max who is a very good boy. The room we stayed in was recently updated with modern features.

We stayed at Mata Rocks mid November 2025. Each of the guest rooms has an ocean view, ours also had a mini kitchen. The rooms have dark Belizian wood floors, comfortable beds, mini split for AC and a sliding door to a deck overlooking the pool. The staff at the hotel is top notch. They are friendly and helpful. Ernesto is the GM, email him regarding any question you have, and you'll get a prompt reply. The hotel is located in a quieter section, south of the main town. The hotel has a bar and restaurant, plus there are restaurants nearby (Robin's for local food and The Hidden Treasure were our favorites). There are two grocery stores nearby. There are dive boats leaving from docks within walking distance from the hotel.

We just left Mata Rocks after a week long trip. The resort is Newly renovated with an expanded bar and pool area. House keeping kept the rooms nice and clean. New sheets everyday. They are finishing up expanding the beach area and sea wall. I do wish we would have known about the construction before hand, however Xavier and James really made the trip with their recommendations and conversations. Pull up, have a seat and talk to some local. You will have a great time!

This place is a gem! Locally owned and recently renovated - the entire property is immaculate (pictures don’t do it justice). The beach bar serves strong delicious cocktails at great prices and the staff all go above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable and happy (James and Javier at the bar are the best - they kept the bar open 2 extra hours for us last night because we were having such a great time). It’s a little far from downtown but you can walk anywhere on the beach in 30 minutes. I actually liked being a little farther away because it’s really peaceful on this slice of beach. Also, the beds were SO COMFORTABLE. It felt like getting into a cloud.
