"Signature Drinks at Squirrel's Nest Bar Head south of town to the tiny beach bar at Mata Rocks Resort. Squirrel’s Nest is a peaceful spot to enjoy a few cocktails while taking in views of Belize’s well-renowned Barrier Reef. For years, I called Mata Rocks my hotel of choice when I visited Belize as a tourist. I spent the bulk of my days lounging by the pool and chatting with the bartenders at Squirrel’s Nest. Longtime bartenders Sherilyn and Criselda are two of the nicest people on the island and serve up some pretty awesome drinks. Try Mata Rock's specialties like the Mata Colada or Pink Squirrel. Open daily, closing hours vary but usually around 8-8:30pm."

I spent 6 days here in May 2025. This place (rooms especially) is in need of TCL but they seem to be working on that with a new beach front bar and dining area opening soon. Despite this, staff was able to quickly react to any specific needs or inquiries. I had an issue with my AC and it was fixed within the hour. Wifi is not great. I was often disconnected. I still recommend Mata Rocks because of the value and location. It’s located just a few steps from my dive shop (BPDC) for a third of the price of other neighbouring hotels. Thank you to Anita and Brayan for making my stay very pleasant!

Lovely small hotel along the beach with very comfortable beds and super friendly attentive staff. Bryant was very helpful!|Beach front but not a swim beach. |Food was great.|Could likely use a restock of kitchenettes but anything we didn’t have, staff got for us. Very attentive. Recommended local places to eat that were a hot and decently priced golf cart suggestions. ||Would recommend if you want to be a little out of town and like to cook a few of your own meals.

Great hotel! Very accommodating staff. Getting taxis and golf carts were super easy, and they were available for any question we had! Not swimmable though, even though it’s beach front. There’s so much sea grass (which also smelled kinda bad) I’d recommend if you’re looking for a cheaper option to stay in San Pedro, though. It wasn’t walkable to much, but the golf carts were great.

Had a good stay in Mata Rocks. The hotel is about ten minutes away from the airport via taxi. The hotel is located on the outskirts of San Pedro Town. The room was nice and I had a view of the ocean which was beautiful. There is a bar downstairs which I enjoyed the complimentary drink upon arrival. Hotel is close to other hotels and bars, definitely enjoyed my stay.

The service and Bryan, Javier and all the staff was really amazing, they were always helping with every single need you had, recommendations for food, scheduling or recommending diving tours and trips and basically giving you anything you need to enjoy your stay in belice. I really enjoyed my stay with them and would like to return since for the price the place is well located it has a dock for tours pick up and is quite relaxed and quiet. The rooms need some refurbishment, especially in the bathroom, but the bed, sheets, and everything else were super comfy, the pool is al little bit old and there is no beach in front, however you won't even need it since there are plenty of Docks to go and just dive they don't charge a dime. Thanks so much for everything. The staff is really making the hotel worth every penny and a place that I would like to return on my next trip.

Clean rooms, right on the beach, great bar with a wonderful breakfast (lunch&dinner). And they have a few games of Pickleball every day! Great location if you want a good night sleep, but also a short 3-5 min walk to 3 other restaurants that had amazing BBQ, pizza, and street tacos :) Brayan organized a great snorkeling trip and the guide picked us up from their dock at the hotel. They also had golf carts to rent right at the hotel for our day trip exploring the island. Javier, James, Brayan went above and beyond when I lost my passport. Helping me figure out my next steps, Embassy help and booking new transportation for the next day!!!

Bryan and Javier are amazing! Thank you both so much for everything! We had a terrible experience in Belize city and we spoke to Bryan and he helped us with everything! He knows so many people and was able to do so much for us! We’re so grateful! The location is quiet and beautiful!
