Matachica Resort and Spa, an SLH Hotel

We absolutely loved our stay at Matachica! Everything was perfect including the laid back atmosphere and wonderful attention to detail, starting with our airport pickup. The food was out of this world and service always spot on. I got two massages at the spa and they were spectacular. We used the complimentary kayaks to go snorkeling in the reef just beyond the resort and it was some of the best we've ever seen. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Absolute perfection! The rooms were spacious, clean and lovely. The grounds were spotless and the staff was amazing. Everyone was so accommodating and helpful. The food was delicious...definitely get the Carmel chocolate mousse and the key lime pie if it's still on the menu. Epic!! Great snorkeling a 10 minute kayak from the dock. We were a family of 11 aged 85-16 and everyone felt great.

I have never felt so pampered. The staff at the resort were so kind, polite and accommodating. The beachside casita was fantastic. The facilities are clean and excellent. We rented a golf cart expecting to spend time at Secret Beach and the town of San Pedro, but we liked the resort so much we wanted to return to it quickly. Yes, it is expensive (and the drinks and food as well) but still worth every penny in my mind. We also took their Ho Chen, Shark Alley and Caye Caulker tour (offered on Saturdays) and it was fantastic - thank you Henry!. Their optional 5 course dinner (on Friday nights) was delicious, I couldn't figure out my favorite food. I wish we had chosen their sister site in the jungle area rather than what we ended up doing, but oh well - look forward to coming back!

Wow where to begin - we had the most amazing vacation ever at Matachica. From the gorgeous grounds, unbeatable service, cleanliness and some of the best food we have ever had the whole experience was just perfect. However, the staff makes the entire experience. They are so kind and thoughtful and truly want to make each guest's time at Matachica the best it can be. We got to know a lot of them and they are the sweetest and happiest people. There's no way we could mention them all but Andre, Julio, Josue, Archie, Aaron, Lance, Gustavo, Kiden, Tony, Silvano, Jose, Moises, Carlos, Jorge, Stephen, Heidi and all others were amazing and really made our time at Matachica so special! The food and cocktails are so good, we raved over every meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and the daily changing pastries were highlight for us. Everything is so fresh, creative and delicious. Matachica? More like Mata-wow. Or better yet: a slice of Heaven on Earth!!What an amazing experience. I can't say enough good things about it. The food was fantastic, the resort was perfect: extremely clean, beautiful and peaceful. We stayed in Papaya, a casita on the beach, and it was awesome to wake up to a view of the beautiful water. The staff went out of their way to be kind, polite, friendly, and always kept a smile on their faces. My husband and I felt like we were so special because of the warmth and genuine kindness each and every staff member showed. While I can't remember every person's name that we "made friends with", a special shout out to: Julio, always had a twinkle in his eye; Josue (& brother Carlos?!) who was always so polite and warm, Aaron, our gregarious beach helper; and Henry, our boat driver, who remembered my name, even though we only met on day 1 and day 7! We are already wondering when we can return!!

My husband and I went to this beautiful resort last week and it was truly paradise! Everything was so wonderful - from the arrival to San Pedro to the boat over to the resort and the cold drink waiting for you on the dock - just magical. The casitas are gorgeous and so quiet and the food is incredible! I highly recommend doing the breakfast included package - not the continental breakfast - but the REAL full breakfast - amazing. The staff are so kind and warm and helpful and want to do everything to make your visit special - thank you so much to Jorge the lovely and hospitable GM, Archie, Tony, Floree and everyone who make our stay magical - we cannot wait to return asap. PS - please bring bug repellant and bring anti-itch cream as some people are more prone to being bitten than others - like me!

The service was so great for our stay here. Our room was constantly being refreshed with fresh towels and water and Jobe was very helpful with directions around San San Pedro. I even got sick during the trip and they had staff go out and get me cough drops and Archy made sure I always had a tray of hot tea, lemon and honey for my sore throat. The breakfast was definitely the best food, a little let down by the dinner offerings. Belize street food won in that regard. Loved the secluded and quiet location and the reef is so close.
