The place is tranquil. Not many animals you can see here only tiny crabs. The sound of the mangrove forest is so soothing. Early morning is recommended. Walking trails are not maintained well. Watch your steps. Per person RM5 and parking RM2. Overall a nice experience.

A must-visit place when you are travelling in taiping. There are a lot of living creatures that can be spotted apart from crabs. But you must visit in the EARLY MORNING at around 8-9am (it opens at 8am), when there are a few visitors. Keep your voice down, walking down the wooden walkways quietly, you will be surprised with how many creatures you could find. We were lucky to see squirrel, giant mudskippers, monitor lizard, monkey, common flameback woodpeckers, butterflies, dragonflies, tit ,tailor bird, fan-tail and other birds(don't know the name). A good place for bird watching. With only RM5 for adult, RM 2 for children below 18 years old, you could spent few hours admiring the tranquility and the beauty of mangrove trees. Morover, it is free for children under 6 and senior citizen above 60. Parking fee is RM 2 per entry. It is advisable to bring insect repellent. there are mosquitoes in the park. No sunblock and umbrella needed as the mangrove trees provide enough shade.

Had a good afternoon walk here while visiting Kuala Sepatang for Lunch. Some of the largest mangrove trees I have ever seen in my life with a wide walkway build over the swampy ground for visitors to walk through. You get totally immersed into the environment surrounded by plenty of bird and insect sounds. We saw plenty of squirrels, birds, mudskippers and butterflies on this visit. Maintenance could be a little better with some of the floorboards broken or missing, but otherwise everything is in decent shape. Sadly, there was some rubbish thrown down into the swampy area, and I do hope future visitors behave appropriately and refrain from throwing rubbish. Also, the authorities in charge should take a bit more effort to pick up any rubbish visible from the path at the very least. But definitely worth a visit overall. Entrance Fee's are RM5 for adults plus RM2 for parking of which there is plenty. I believe there is also a special price for seniors 60 years old and above.

Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve Eco Park (Pusat Eko Pelajaran Hutan Paya Laut Matang) is well preserved and maintained. You can take a relaxing walk on the boardwalk around the mangrove forest. Mangroves provide natural infrastructure to reduce erosion and are very important to the ecosystem. They have numerous tangled and thick roots above the ground. The roots help to bind the soil and prevent floods along coastal swamps. The dense thickets also provide a natural habitat for many types of fish, shrimp, crab, mudskipper, snakes, monitor lizards and etc. You can listen to the birds chirping and insects buzzing while walking around the mangrove forest. Many adults and school children find it educational to learn about the importance of mangroves.

Being a nature lover myself, I chose to go to Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve Eco Park in the morning during my visit to Taiping. While there were a few broken things here and there, the whole place is generally considered well maintained. Compared to a similar place that I had previously visited (the Kuala Selangor Nature Park), Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve is far better in almost all aspects. The walkway brings us deep into the mangrove forest, allowing us to have close up view of the forest and the wildlife in the area. Various viewing platforms and resting gazebos were built at different points along the walkway. I spotted a large bird that was maybe a hornbill, and various swamp dwelling creatures such as mudskippers, crabs and other creepy crawlies. I sprayed mosquito repellent on my exposed skin and had no trouble with any mozzies the whole time during my visit. I'm not sure if the repellent was especially effective, or the park has few mozzies in the morning. Anyway, I'd still recommend applying mosquito repellent. Overall, it was a relaxing walk in the forest. Being shaded by tall trees all around, you don't have to worry about being scorched by the sun. The swamp created a cool and calm environment, perfect for a walk. The nominal entrance and parking fees are a small price to pay for what you can experience here. Definitely worth a visit.

Great walk around the mangrove forest. Great knowledge received. Walk up to 1.2km. If you are planning go for morning walk. Besides, take the cruise to look at the roots much closer, eagle feeding and birdwatching Contact En Khairul +60 12-514 5023

Great for nature lovers. Appreciating the importance of the mangrove to the whole ecosystem. About 1.2km of boardwalk, opens at 8.00am, got there about 8.30am on a Saturday, stayed there for close to an hour maybe. RM5 for the ticket and RM2 for the parking, worth the price over all. Was on my own almost the entire time other than a Japanese couple at the entrance with their huge cameras. Saw both a male and female common flameback woodpecker together, an unidentified raptor and a family of otters. Would recommend for a short trip !

🐣 We came on the weekend, but for some reason, it felt very quiet, especially at the beginning when it was just us. Maybe because we came at midday, haha. 🐣 Even so, this place is very peaceful and breezy. As we walked and explored along the mangrove forest, we encountered some monkeys and other mangrove wildlife. 🐣 At that time, the tide was low, so we could see scattered trash, which is unfortunate as it reflects the weak awareness we have in preserving nature. Don't forget to take your trash back with you.
