All around a great dining experience, but at a pretty steep price.
I've come to expect higher prices as par for the course in Iceland, but I still was bummed at how expensive this was. Between the rhubarb liqueur, the fried cauliflower and the "lion" cake dessert, I paid about $90 (~11000 ISK). Everything was solid, I'm just not convinced it was worth the price. The set menus are a better deal if you're going to get a main and a dessert, I just wasn't into the vegetarian/vegan set menu items.
Pricing qualms aside, the food was great. They started us off with some complimentary bread (pretzels!) with cream cheese(?) spread, which was a nice warm surprise. The fried cauliflower was flavorful, even a little spicy, and very filling. The macadamia nuts and celeriac puree were a nice touch and good textural combination. The "lion" chocolate raspberry cake was rich, though not especially memorable–the flavors were all familiar and not as decadent as I'd hoped from a chocolate "cake". The rhubarb liqueur was sweet and delicious, I was glad to have tried it after having seen how common rhubarb seems to be in Iceland. Everyone at the table who ordered a set menu really enjoyed it, especially the soup portion.
Service was extremely attentive, and the space was cozy but slightly cramped. All in all we had an enjoyable meal and I would recommend it, with the caveat that the costs start high and add up quickly.
