Matbaren Bistro by Renaa

This is the best restaurant I’ve been to in Stavanger during the two weeks I spent there. It was recommended by our lovely Norwegian professor. From the moment we step inside, the staff warmly welcomes us, helping with our bags and coats. All the staff are polite and friendly. Every dish we ordered was delicious, and it truly is lamb season. This restaurant offers lamb dishes that are possibly cheaper than those at typical steak shops as well. A warm rhubarb frangipane and pistachio gelato was a perfect end to our meal. One thing to improve: since I can’t drink alcohol, they kept asking me repeatedly. So, pls…🙏🏻

Amazing team that elevates the already high quality produce that can be found locally. Particularly like the relaxed and casual environment and great service. Had a seat at facing the kitchen and really enjoyed watching the team prepare everything with joy and great attention to detail. Had the bone marrow to start, Turbot for mains and duck fat potatoes and all of them were home runs. Update: Went back a 2nd time and the quality is consistent. Kitchen was also able to make fish and chips for a fussy kid so that was a nice touch.

In 2017 and 2018 I and my family ate here at least four times. The quality of the food and service was nearly perfect. Of the hundreds of restaurants that I've patronized in my life, RM is in the top five. I pray the Lord brings me back to this place at least one more time.

Great service, amazing food. The food was overall so tasty and perfectly executed that we didn't even mind the macaroni that didn't really belong to the dish nor the icy ice cream with the chocolate tart. Absolutely worth not one, but multiple trips.

Excellent food. Taste, flavor, consistency are perfectly matched across all dishes. No doubt. Place very well designed and decorated. I would suggest less timing.

Nice place to eat, good vibe, impecable service and very good food. Advice: bring your credit cards, as the restaurant is not very eager to receive cash. Because of this I couldn't tip the service, as they do not carry cash at the premisses.

The food was delicious with attention to details and flavours. Our appetisers which were the escargot, the chili grilled squid with chorizo, and the yellowtail hamachi marinated slices, my 12 year old wanted to order them all again. For mains we had entrecôte with shoestring fries accenting the dish, as well as a Bouillabaisse, and the turbot fish… our plates were pretty much wiped clean, and for dessert the cheesecake was the winner followed by the creme brûlée perhaps I wouldn’t order the baked Alaska although the presentation. And delivery of it is special as the chef comes out to light it on fire.. but perhaps replace it with a caramelised apple tarte Tatin. Ambience very pleasant, and service is good too o compliment the overall restaurant..

Very nice place, warm and cosy. Mashed potatoes with their own homemade sausage, tasted delightful. But this place can hurt your wallet 😂 A little bit noisy, and your clothes will smell food when you go out.
