The Best Hotels and Resorts in Koh Samui, Thailand

"Travelers gather for days to months to work from their laptops, live well, and eat well at Kapuhala, a boutique hotel that has the relaxed vibe of an Airbnb. Food is central to a stay here—a small but perfect menu of Sicilian plant-based recipes (Kapuhala’s second outpost is on the Italian island), features delicious spaghetti soy ragu and light arancini, all topped with pipettes of extra virgin olive oil, with the olives plucked and pressed at their Sicily property. Breakfast, meanwhile, is a feast of fruit and freshly baked muffins and strong Italian coffee. You can venture high up the hill in Chaweng Noi on a moped for a meal, but then you’d miss what makes this place so special: easing into your day in the open air restaurant space, with its swaying rattan lamps and hessian bean bags, getting to know the friendly team and feeling inspired by the island’s remote working views across the infinity pool and over the sea below. Choose from four simple light-filled ‘tiny houses’ or one of five large safari-style tents, where the sides fold up so the breeze can flow in while you gaze out. Avoid avoid avoid! – Definitely Not 3 Stars If I could give zero stars, I would. We stayed in the Lake Building, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. First off, the noise was unbearable. We had to listen to the same promotional sound on repeat for six hours, and loud music blasted from the venues next door until 4 AM - getting any sleep was impossible. It felt more like a nightclub than a hotel. The beds are also rock solid, and pillows too high. You’ll also need to give 2000 baht deposit in cash when you check in. The room itself was dirty and didn’t feel like a place to relax at all. We found a leftover water bottle and an earbud on the floor, which made it clear that it hadn’t been properly cleaned. To make matters worse, the taps were rusty, making us question the overall maintenance of the place. This is nowhere near a 3-star hotel by any reasonable standard. If you value cleanliness, peace, and a good night’s sleep, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Having stayed many, many times at this resort wanted to give our honest opinion. Our room/rooms always to our liking, ocean side, cleaned daily and maid service very good. Loved the " old" staff of Chaba as knew them for many years but you adjust and new faces have been helpful and kind. Breakfast good, not as good as old buffet but this may change. We love the pool and beach but miss the massages. Recommend this resort for families, couples etc and can't wait to come back April 2025 with extra person, sons girlfriend ❤️

If you want to stay in this area then location is ok and not too loud. The housekeepers are great and the warm was serviced. However, there is one woman receptionist at this hotel that has a really bad a attitude and if I was running this hotel would replace. When we checked in she was not helpful at all and rolled her eyes got upset when we asked a question. Also, at checkout we asked if she could book us a taxi, but she said no we need to give her 5 hours notice to book it. She said get a taxi on the street. We went to the street and there were no taxis there or driving past. I went back in to complain ask if she could call one and she refused to help. We eventually got a taxi a half hour later and we barely made our ferry due to this horrible service and attitude. How can a hotel say no we can not call a taxi for you and give us 6 hours notice. simple you call and one will come, but from when we first checked in to when we left this one receptionist obviously doesn't like her job and has the worst attitude. The housekeepers were great, the breakfast was good, but this attitude from the receptionist and resulting in us almost missing our ferry we will not stay or recommend htis hotel.

Rooms are clean and nice. Would recommend to stay in ocean building as it’s newer and quieter compared to lake side building. Lake side building was very noisy at night from music played in the bars nearby. Staff Gbow was friendly and helpful.

This hotel and management lie. I booked this for 2 adults and 2 children after the sale I noticed they updated the rooms as 2 adults and 1 child per room capacity, I checked with management and told they catered for 2 adults and 2 children - Was I wrong! they mean 2 adults and 1 child in the same bed with you! there was a small couch no linen, and was forced to pay for an extra bed. Whilst trying to sort it out was not given any solutions and had to pay and was told to take it up with agoda, normally the staff are willing to work with you not here! they were laughing and being rude despite all the email communication I had prior to check in. I was sat there for a good 2 hours going around in circles because the manager lied about room capacity. Whilst I was there another person came up to me and said they booked 2 adults and 1 child and they said the same and were also forced to pay for an additional bed.......not to mention the other guests waiting 4 hours after check out just to get in their room! This was the worst experience in my Thailand travels and warn people don't book if you have a family as these rooms only have 1 king size bed!!

Ive been staying next door to Matcha at Kings Garden for years and have always wondered what it would be like so this year was the year to try. It is a nicely (but only partly) refurbished older style hotel that is reminiscent of hotels I've stayed at in Waikiki, Hawaii. I had issues on arrival (not due to hotel, due to an Agoda error) that were rectified over 48 hours but marred the beginning. There were also initial issues with wifi and TV in my room so had to move three times in the lakeside building before finally upgrading to ocean side building - PRO TIP: oceanview is worth extra paying the extra cash for! Rooms are large, well sound proofed, have a nice outlook and contain a great batherrom and shower. The beds are a little on the too hard side of firm - still sleepable but even my love of a firm mattress was tested! The Wifi is farily strong and mostly reliable. All of the staff are kind and helpful. Breakfast is simple-ish and far from fancy but fine - always one Asian dish, standard English breakky type items, an egg station for eggs anyway, toast, some small pastries, salads, cereals, juice, coffee. The grounds are well kept and Matcha is situated on the best part of the beach in Chaweng - but its only a short walk to where most restaurants, bars, cafes and Central Samui shopping centre. Would consider staying again and if you book far enough out you will probably get a room for around the $AUD100 a night fee.

Stay here was OK. ||Positives ||Air con when working is good.||Pillows good.||Good sized room||Lovely beach location||Negatives ||Reception staff a bit mixed. Gbow on check out was particularly poor. Check out time was 12noon. She rang curtly at 12.01 and was very stern faced 3 mins later. Not the usual thai hospitality!||Air con was not working first night so was a hot box. To be fair was fixed quickly the next day.||The whole place feels unfinished and a bit 'unloved'||Coffee at breakfast was dire.
