The cozy cafe atmosphere is delightful. The attention to detail in the flowers, art, and vibe is commendable.

It was a horrible experience. I needed to get some work done and had to make a phone call to resolve some issues. I was stuck on hold forever. I had already eat my food. and I wanted to order an additional drink without losing my place on hold on the phone.. There was no one in line at the cafe. Staff wasn't busy at all. The barista intentionally ignored me until I had to call over to him for him to move 2 feet towards the register. I was already getting treated like crap having been on hold (phone) over 30 minutes and didn't know how much longer it would be .. then the barista was rude too. I explained to him that I am on hold and if I hang up I will lose my place and have to callback and start over. I didnt want to waste the time. He said that he has trouble with people on the phone. He never smiled. Never made eye contact and generally treated me like I was not human. I also happen to be a black woman. Not sure if that matters but I was the only black woman I saw for the several hours I was there. I ordered food and drink and made sure that I didnt just take up space without paying for it. Still I was treated poor enough that I would not go out of my way to return to this place. Additionally they saw me struggling to get water from their mostly empty water container. Instead of helping or topping it up, they did nothing... just watched. Another point.. I was seated near an outlet and stuck between 2 people on either end of the table. To get out, I would have to ask them to move. When neither had the wifi password and my food was brought to my table I asked for the wifi password and network. The white man claimed he did not know and acted irritated that I didnt want to disturb the other patrons by asking them to move. ****Perhaps if the staff put the wifi password on the table once a day this entire situation could be avoided for people who need to sit in the dreaded middle seats. Microaggressions from staff members who I am sure dont make in a day what I make in an hour is infuriating. Kindness doesn't cost a thing. All this while I am paying for service from people who act like they dont appreciate me existing there.. Again, kindess and creating a welcoming atmosphere costs NOTHING. There is no excuse for the lack of it. I will not return.

Came here on a sunny, Sunday afternoon, and she did not disappoint! For starters, the espresso was rich, creamy, and chocolatey. Just the way I love it. There was also several tables outdoors, perfectly positioned to catch the day’s rays. My partner got the breaky sandwich, which he approved of. I got the muesli (gluten free) with coconut yogurt, bananas, blueberries, peanut butter, and added macadamia nuts. It was just the type of breakfast I was looking for. Plenty of people working on their laptops too, so I suspect it has free/reliable wifi.

Google
A better than average coffee spot and definitely worth the detour. Pastries are good but nothing to write home about. They use good beans for the coffee selection and their baristas seem to always be on their game, both with the shots they pull and just a pleasure to talk to. Great local vibe with a consistently good feelings flowing through the shop. Top 10 coffee shops for me in the city.

Google
This is a solid neighborhood coffee spot with good food options. I was in town for a several days and tried Matching Half along with a few other coffee spots in the area (Sightglass, The Mill, Bean Bag Cafe) and it was my favorite. Their Americano is excellent and the ambiance is cozy. They have wifi (Sightglass does not, for comparison) and it's a good spot with both indoor/outdoor options to post up and answer a few emails.

Google
The vibes and aesthetics of this cafe makes me so happy. Ordered a breakfast egg sandwich to go. It was delicious. There’s lovely outdoor seating and people on laptops inside. Favorite cafe in the neighborhood! And closest cafe with matcha on the menu.

Been visiting this place since moved to sf and it never disappoints. Coffee is great. Also the staff is so amazing (shot out to nick i think?) there was a 20$ bill on the floor while I was ordering and he asked me if it was mine (it wasn’t ) and when I proceeded to pay he said all set! Such a kind gesture made my day :)

Google
Matching Half is a classic SF coffeehouse with layers of history, excellent service, and delicious drinks & food. Definitely stop by for a good vibe—it’s more than a shop, it’s a community space.

Yelp
Matchy-matchy! I came here with two of my girlfriends to catch up on life and we all ordered the Matcha tea latte with oat milk which was warm, not too sweet, but enough caffeine to get us through the rest of the day to run errands. The cafe is cute with indoor and outdoor seating and it seems that the place is frequented by the local neighbors, which I find very quaint. There are food items you can order but we opted to just stick with our teas during our catch up. The service is fairly quick despite there being a line and we were able to secure a table inside since it was a bit chilly when we went. I love neighborhood cafes like this. It creates this wonderful feeling of community and belonging!

Yelp
Hmmm, I have my confusions about this place LOL. We came here Saturday morning and it was significantly busy but I don't understand the hype here... like maybe we ordered the wrong thing? I got the Honey Cinnamon Latte with a Sunrise Bowl and my boyfriend got a Cold Brew with a Bacon Egg Ciabatta. Everything tasted very average. Vibe-wise, it gives local cafe energy - there seem to be a lot of families, couples, and students that stop by. I think the interior is very clean and nature-esque, which is very appealing. It is a nice spot to catch up with friends or study/work as they also have wifi. There are quite a few seats as well so that is nice.

Yelp
11am Tuesday: The cafe is situated between Western Addition & NOPA, & the edge of Haight Ashbury, serving the locals, no tourists I could see, far enough from Haight & Divisadero street grunge. Like most cafes in the hood, there's a touch of the 70s, heyday of hippy esthetic. Inside the tall ceiling space is local art & the usual laptop village. Outside is a sidewalk wide enough to accommodate 6 cafe tables, no expensive parklet needed. I consulted the menu board & chose the closest thing to avocado toast. Behold the Avo, watermelon radish, raw onion, chili flakes, (added bacon) on a toasted everything bagel. (They only have everything bagels). The combo made for a tasty meal. The raw onions & thin layer of avocado spread kinda made the sandwich taste more lunch than breakfast. Purely subjective. It's hard to find a decent bagel in San Francisco which is a mystery given all the NYC transplants. This bagel is in the top 5 IMO. I will definitely return to sample one of the many custom coffees & whatever is in those green drinks. Loved the vibe, mostly soft rock & the ability to linger reading my NY Times. Yes, I'm a good citizen, left when all the tables got full. Support Local !

Yelp
such a cute local cafe! cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating and is very clean. there's wifi and it's a nice spot for study/work. i think i saw an outlet in a corner, but there aren't outlets available at each table.

Yelp
This place is super cute and has fun games like chess and checkers to play. I just got an 8oz mocha which was a lil too rich and maybe dark chocolate for me. The service was nice. I'd try this spot again and maybe hang here, just didn't like the mocha. Nothing bad with it tho, just lil rich for me Mocha - 6/10

Yelp
I've been coming here since they opened the shop and have loved it for YEARS. But the food has gone downhill in a major way -- I've been super disappointed the last 3 times I've gone so it seems like a sad trend. I got a lox bagel yesterday which they put on bread bc they were out. It was dry because there was no visible cream cheese and super meager red onions and dill -- it felt like eating croutons and fish. I would have brought it back but I took it to go I really want to love this place but their food is expensive and I can't justify spending over $15 on food this disappointing. I really hope that by sharing this we can see some improvement in the food quality bc I want them to succeed. Coffee here is great and staff is really nice.

Yelp
Nice neighbor cafe with lots of seating. Food ordered: Avo Radish Bagel w/Egg (6/10): the sesame bagel I had was incredibly hard even though the filling was tasty. My friend had the same issue with her everything bagel. Bacon, Egg & Cheese Ciabatta (8/10): was a solid sandwich overall Drinks ordered: Lavender latte (7/10): personally could have used more lavender Drip coffee (8/10): solid coffee

Yelp
One of my favorite cafes in SF! Matching Half has coffee, drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and muesli bowls - all of which have wowed me. The baristas are always very nice. The interior is very cute and charming, but there's not a ton of seating inside. If you manage to snag a table, there's also free WiFi! Food - vegan carrot muffin: this muffin wowed me!! It was sweet and had great texture (some nuts and sugar). I would've never guessed that it was vegan. - avoradish bagel: soo delicious! radish, egg, and avocado is such a great combo. - pesto chicken ciabatta: a decent sized sandwich with a generous amount of filling, so tasty! Drinks I've tried - cold brew: smooth and strong - chai latte: delightfully spicy and strong

Yelp
Their breakfast sandwiches are thick and delicious. We had their Bacon Egg Ciabatta sandwich and half of it was already filling for me. Their Turmeric Latte was very smooth. Cute little spot in NoPa with indoor and outdoor seating, which is plenty for a small outdoor cafe.

Yelp
I really like the latte here but 1) it's slower so you have to be prepared to wait 2) it costs a whole dollar for oat milk

Addison B.

Yelp
If like just milk as your coffee this is your place! I got a cinnamon honey coffee and I watched them make it. There was no honey in it and like 2 molecules of cinnamon. We got two bagel sandwiches things and the bread WAS HARD like crouton hard. Like we couldn't even bit into it. It was relatively busy on a Sunday when we went so I found it surprising there bagels were so old and hard. Very expensive for pretty bad food and coffee

Yelp
This is one of those corner neighborhood cafés in an obscure place. It's nice to get off the beaten path of busy Divisadero. I like how they serve coffee in pretty blue mugs. I always hate going to a sit-down place that has paper cups. They are the same company as Muesi on Union so they offer many different muesli bowls. I wish they stayed open later, 3pm seems like such an early time to close. It used to be open till 6 or so before Covid, hopefully they will change that back eventually.

Yelp
We got a Honey Cinnamon and Maple Latte. The Maple Latte was supposed to be iced, but was made hot. Both were good, but tasted more or less like any sweetened latte. The inside was nice and they had some tables outside as well. I would go back again if in the area.

Yelp
An unexpected new favorite! Matching Half is nestled on a corner block in the charming Nopa neighborhood, across the street from where Automat used to be. The markings of a perfect coffeeshop to me are the following: 1. Signature flavored lattes and 2. Breakfast sandwiches - and Matching Half checks off both. It appears they recently merged with or are collabing with Muesi as there were so muesli bowl options on the menu when we went on a weekend morning. They have pretty generous outdoor/parklet seating and a few tables inside as well. It wasn't difficult at all finding a place to dine. The maple latte unexpectedly blew me away. The espresso was pulled pretty standardly but the maple sauce they use is so tasty! Furthermore they use housemade almond and oat milk--you can absolutely taste the difference! So creamy and dreamy, truly an excellent craft coffee experience. We also enjoyed the food offerings. I got a BEC ciabatta breakfast sandwich which was absolutely delicious. The "fried" egg was clearly made using one of those microwavable gadgets but other than that I loved it and would def reorder. My bf tried the veggie bagel which was filled with greens and cream cheese. Both were pretty filling but not overly so. They had a small sign for roasted buckwheat matcha which I will absolutely come back for. Overall a hit!

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by for a morning coffee this past Sunday. I thought it was pretty cool that they have muesli here and wish I got some to try. The barista who took my order seemed to be having a bad day because she was pretty rude to me and a couple of others who were ordering. CAPPUCCINO - 5.25 +1 for oat milk, which is pretty expensive for a cappuccino. The espresso was on the more astringent side. It was still OK, but I probably won't get it again. Maybe it was just an off day for me, but 2/5 for the snooty service and less than mediocre coffee.

Yelp
I really like this coffee shop, local vibes all around and everyone is so friendly! Really great coffee and great service! It'll be my go to for your Saturday morning coffee spot :)

Yelp
Love this charming cafe so much; if only I lived in the neighborhood so that I could come here all the time! Ordered the salami ciabatta sandwich and cappuccino, both a 10/10 in my book. Cappuccino came out quickly and latte art was on point. Beans are from Andytown so you know the coffee is legit. Sandwich was savory and delightful; the walnut pesto spread was a game changer! Since they were out of ciabetta, they subbed for croissant sandwich bread, which was unlike anything I've tried. Perfectly flakey, crispy, and chewy, all in one bite. Indoor seating in this cozy spot is highly coveted but limited; a few outdoor tables are also available. Lines can be long, especially during the weekends, so it's best to beat the morning rush or swing by in the afternoon.

Yelp
On the corner of McAllister and Baker holds this classic-style coffee shop that is 1 part hip and 2 parts homey. Too many cafes have gone the route of sterile and precise, so I'm glad to see one still maintain some of its roots. I digress. I got a simple cold brew and a breakfast egg sandwich. The cold brew was pretty standard, and you can't go wrong. The sandwich was tasty with its fluffy egg and layers of ham glued together by melted Swiss and all wrapped around 2 thick cut slices of well done-toasted bread. The whole package is simple yet harmonious. The service was prompt and relatively friendly. I could def see this as someone's favorite neighborhood shop.

Yelp
I really appreciate living near this cute cafe so I can grab my Monday morning caffeine and pastry; really keeps the serotonin levels up. They have free wifi and both indoor and outdoor seating! My default is the honey cinnamon latte; it's great both warm and iced. They have almond milk and oat milk for a bit extra for the dairy-free folks. Service is friendly, just know that it gets a little slow around 9:30-10am ish (maybe that is right when everyone wants coffee.) Longest I have had to wait to order + receive my stuff was maybe 10 minutes, so nothing too bad. Prices are SF cafe typical. I have tried the chocolate croissant and sticky bun and both were good - not mind-blowing, but definitely hit the spot. Would love to try the savory stuff at some point!

Yelp
A cute little neighborhood coffee shop -- stopped by with a pal on a Sunday morning when I was in town for OSL and loved the vibes. They have plenty of seating and chairs outside and the service is very quick. They had a bit of a line but moved efficiently, so we didn't wait long for our drinks! I got the Chai and Cardamom Croissant. The chai was pretty standard but overall good. The croissant was super unique and had subtle notes of the cardamom in rolled into this beautiful little croissant braid. I would totally come back again -- it would be a great spot to catch up with a pal.

Yelp
Amazing Coffee, Amazing Food, Amazing Vibe and Amazing People. New favorite coffee shop in sf

Yelp
Cute neighborhood cafe, with free wifi and decent amounts of seating. I saw a lot of people doing work and also chit chatting! Lattes are still on the pricier side ($6-6.75), but tasted good. They also have a small food menu with sandwiches and bowls.
google avatar

Yelp
New breakfast spot only when I'm around the area I stopped by two days ago and ordered the breakfast sandwich and latte. Parking was not too bad being it was the early morning. There was a decent line to order and waiting for the food! Just an fyi that there might be a wait depending on the time of day you come in. The food itself was very good. Pricey but good. I wouldn't drive all the way out there but will stop by whenever I'm around the area.

Adam ..

Yelp
Rude staff, belittled us after not tipping a to-go order.. commented to each other "I love it when people dont tip" loudly so other customers could hear it. Threw sandwich on counter without regard.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
In terms of coffee, this place is great. In terms of food, not so great. I got an iced latte and the espresso shot was good. I enjoyed my latte a lot but unfortunately not my bagel. I got an avocado and radish bagel and sadly, the bagel itself was incredibly tough. It was dense and difficult to chew. The one positive is the fillings inside were tasty.
google avatar

Claire G.

Yelp
Great cold brew and breakfast sandwiches. It can get busy on weekends and first thing in the morning so I try to time my visits around that.
google avatar

Julie V.

Yelp
I came in to grab a coffee and breakfast! The cafe was very clean and bright which was nice. It is a very cute neighborhood spot and this is the second time I've been here. 1st visit - The first time it was a weekday morning and it was pretty busy, but the workers were pretty quick with the orders! I got an americano to go and it was not bad. 2nd visit - Second time, it was a Sunday morning so there were only two customers sitting in the cafe. The workers weren't very friendly, maybe 8am was a little too early? I asked for a coffee with 2% milk...but they didn't know what that was... they also snapped at me as I stood to wait for my bagel asking "what's the problem?" when I was just waiting. I didn't feel very welcomed so decided to just grab my food and drink and walk elsewhere to eat. Bagel was good though and the guy who made the bagel was friendly unlike the cashier/barista.
google avatar

Heather Z.

Yelp
I came here on a weekday to work with some friends. The space is a bit small but if you get here early you can get seats. There are a few outlets and free wifi. I ordered a dirty chai which was ok - it wasn't as flavorful as I hoped it would be. I did enjoy my breakfast egg sandwich!! It was made right in front of me so it was nice and warm.
google avatar

Samantha D.

Yelp
Came in on a Friday morning around 8am. There were a few people inside, but otherwise it was pretty empty. I got a latte. They serve Andytown coffee. The coffee wasn't watered down. It was pretty standard. The latte art was good. Temperature of the drink was just right. The coffee was somewhat fragrant. The staff are nice. It's a fast, simple place for coffee on the go.

Florentin K.

Yelp
Love this place, great food even better service. The sandwiches and coffee come out hot and fast and taste like heaven!

Julianna G.

Yelp
i love this place! the shop has a great vibe with big windows and the coffee is so good. you can tell the beans are sourced well and they prepare the best drinks. not to mention, the baristas are so sweet and welcoming. (Gracie is my favorite ) highly recommend!

Jack L.

Yelp
My favorite cafe in the city by far! fantastic service and phenomenal quality for drinks and food. personal favorite is the bacon breakfast sandwich, which I get on Croissanti bread, so good. All the employees are super nice and always working really hard! can't say enough good things

Fernando P.

Yelp
Amazing service and coffee. I love walking in a seeing a smile. It's genuinely my favorite coffee shop in the city. It feels like home and the honey cinnamon late is great

Penny L.

Yelp
after looking for a while i found my new regular coffee shop!! love this place!! best spot in nopa!!
google avatar

Meghan H.

Yelp
I love that this coffee shop is in my area. I feel its hard to find good coffee shops outside of downtown that have wifi, chargers, and lots of tables. I have been three times now, and enjoyed all of the coffees I have tried. I recommend trying out a dirty chai when you have a chance. I especially enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and almond croissant, and I look forward to testing out more food on their menu. I recommend this coffee shop if you need to get some work done or want to drink coffee and watch cute dogs come and go with their owners.
google avatar

Crystal X.

Yelp
Matching Half is a charming neighborhood cafe that serves Andytown Coffee. It's right across from Automat and the environment is perfect for getting some work done. I haven't tried their pastries or muesli bowls yet but I love that their coffee is strong and consistently good. If you're driving, parking is usually pretty easy to find with plenty of two hour parking spots nearby. I also recommend checking out Bob's Donuts on your way out!

Yelp
I've been waiting in line for 15 min, started at 7:40am.... while waiting so many people left, overheard a couple guys say, 'they are slow, waited over 1/2 hr last time. Let's go some place else.' I looked at the time and thought should I leave... ? Not sure if someone called in sick. But, I give them props for holding down the fort with only 2 people, one behind the bar/register and the other making the food. I believe efficiency should be key, every free second counts 'multi-task.' It would have been nice to hear from the barista, 'thank you for waiting. Or I apologize for the long wait.' She wasn't rude, was nice and asked 'what would you like.' 8:15am finally... lol those guys were right.

Allyson F.

Yelp
Their housemade almond milk is delicious - SO much better than cartons. Wonderful iced matcha latte!
google avatar

Yelp
Exceptional neighborhood coffee place. Love the coffee and the food and the humans who work there. It's a nice, friendly place to work (WiFi and outlets available) for a change of scenery from my house. I highly recommend Matching Half and a shout out to Gracie who is so nice
google avatar

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Cute spot with decent food and coffee. Parking is not great in this part of NOPA and beware of street cleaning and other parking signs (as in all areas of SF). There isn't a ton of indoor seating and when we were there they kept the door open and it was a bit cold. There is also outdoor seating. The vibe inside is cute and it would probably have been better to be there on a warm, sunny day. I got a honey cinnamon latte which was good and also the breakfast egg sandwich. The breakfast sandwich had really yummy bread and was simple and delicious. Staff were friendly and they were playing Carly Rae Jepson so yep, this place works.
google avatar

Genevieve N.

Yelp
I ordered their protein bowl and it came with mushy strawberries and old browning mushy bananas. Eeek I hate to waste food but I can't eat this. I wasn't a fan of the coffee either, it tastes like burnt coffee beans. Service was good and ambiance was beautiful so giving it 3 stars instead of 1.
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
There was a bit of a wait, both to order and to receive the drinks. It was a weekend morning, we weren't in a hurry and the outdoor seating was nice, so we didn't mind the wait. I had a mocha -- I really enjoyed it. Not too sweet like many cafes tend towards. Milk foam art's always a nice touch. I'd come back again.
google avatar

Jasmin G.

Yelp
I've been here twice now - their coffee is fantastic. The cappuccino, latte, and iced americano are all excellent. However both times I've come here I've had issues with my food missing ingredients. The first time I ordered the avocado radish bagel, the egg was forgotten - thankfully the employee remembered and made me a new one before I left. The second time, we opened our breakfast sandwiches to find no avocado after we specifically paid for avocado. Just make sure you give your food a quick check before leaving (we were already home when we saw)! In general, the food, coffee, and service are good, but the food is nothing extraordinary.
google avatar

Coco C.

Yelp
Nice outdoor seatings. However the latte is a bit too sour for my taste, and the bagel was dry and bland.
google avatar

Julianna K.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop! Came here to study during the day on a weekday and it was still packed! Great place to work with a laptop, but hard to find a place to sit. Ended up standing by the window with my latte, which was pretty good but perhaps a little pricey. Didn't get to try any of the pastries but looked good, and it was fun to people watch!

Kunal G.

Yelp
perfect spot. i don't like love the drink 5* but probably 4.75* and the staff and space is awesome

Yelp
LMAO at these other reviews with hangry, impatient people. If you go to a cafe expecting to be in and out in 5 minutes, put in a mobile order and go to the Starbucks on Fulton. This is THE neighborhood cafe, and I'm so lucky that I live within a 5 minute walk of this place! First of all, the building it's in is a gorgeous ornate large Victorian apartment building complete with stained glass and beautiful details and paint. It's got plenty of seating especially outside where they've managed to expand to two parklets (fingers crossed they never get rid of these)! It's perfect on especially sunny days. All the locals who come in have cute dogs and are friendly and everyone is genuinely stoked to be here together, enjoying good coffee and good food (which, would ya believe it, takes longer than 2 minutes to put together). Check it out; I'll see ya there!
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this cafe, and I've tried it on two occasions before writing this review (to be sure it wasn't a one-off poor experience). First off, the service is incredibly slow. There were 10 people in line ahead of us, and it took 40 minutes to receive our coffee. This is really disappointing. Second, both of my drinks were made incorrectly. One seasonal latte was missing the honey entirely, and tasted very poor as a result. The second drink was served so cold that I had to take it back. Even stranger, they re-made the cold drink and offered to refund the purchase if it still wasn't hot enough. This makes no sense - they easily could have made the beverage any temperature they desire. Even after remaking the drink, it was room temperature and needed to be microwaved for a full minute at home. Overall, I do not recommend this cafe and will not be back. Waiting 40 minutes for two incorrect drinks is wild, I'm very surprised!

Yelp
First-time visit & find the interior very cool. -Ordered yogurt w/ granola & fruits + honey drizzles. Tastes great. -Fast internet & great place for work -Very limited seating though, I could not find a set -Parking was also not easy to find. -Cute decor & plants -Food is a bit pricey but good quality.
