Materramenta Wines

We visited this lovely winery on a rainy day, so we only got to experience the indoor part of the tour - but it was absolutely worth it! We really enjoyed learning about the unique approach and traditional techniques used in winemaking in the Azores. I personally learned a lot, and everyone in our group loved the wine tasting that followed. What made the visit truly special, though, were two impressive women. Our guide, Beatrice (hope I’m spelling that right!), was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the topic. We were also lucky enough to meet Magdalena, the owner, who shared fascinating stories about the history of the winery and her family. They even gave us some wonderful tips for things to do on a rainy day in Terceira - from local shops to great restaurants. Highly recommended - even if the weather doesn’t cooperate!

highly recommend visiting this beautiful winery! We stopped by Materramenta by chance and it ended up being one of the best parts of our trip! Madalena and Luis, the owners, were so kind and welcoming. When they found out it was our honeymoon, they surprised us with an extra tasting and gave us a cork as a souvenir. The snacks were unique and delicious, and the wine was simply amazing…we couldn’t resist buying a bottle to take home. The whole experience felt personal and special. We’re so glad we met Madalena and Luis!

Beatriz provided us with a top notch tour of the vineyards and winery that was very informative and interesting. This was followed by wine tasting that was both excellent and also informative. Highly recommend the tour and wine tasting!

I loved my visit of the winery! They set up my tasting on their terrace as it was a beautiful day and they took such good care of me. It felt like they had invited me into their home. The wines are also delicious and I highly recommend stopping there to bring home a nice bottle 🍷

We had a great tour of the winery on a beautiful day in Terceira followed by some delicious wine tasting and samples of local cuisine. Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the island for a nice daytime activity and to learn more about how they produce the wine here!

We had a lovely tour around the winery with Beatrice and Magdalena. It was absolutely amazing. Their story and hospitality were spectacular. Highly recommended to support a lovely local business with great wine.

I emailed the winery to make a reservation for one. Luis instantly messaged me and gave me options for their experience. After hashing iut the details, he went above amd beyond by answering any questions I have aboit the island. (Didnt have to be winery related). The day comes and the hostess Beatriz, was very accommodating and coordinated several parties at once. She was very informative about the vineyard and very engaging when it came to the tasting. The appetizer that were included were delicious and I left with a fun memory form this trip. Luis gave me some places to check out and he was very helpful until my departure. I would recommend them. Hopefully they would utilize the extra space they purchase to make an event space for future endeavors.

I am only giving 5 stars because that is all you allow. It deserves double of that easily. Fascinating tour followed by delicious introduction to local wines and foods. Beatriz made a fantastic experience for us- demand to tour with her. Do NOT miss this tour!!!!
