Came to this cozy restaurant for my first meal in Tromsø. I was graciously seated at a full table despite dining alone. I ordered the 3-course Christmas lunch set (745 NOK) with wine pairing (540 NOK). The lunch menu included:
・Cured salmon — Fennel- and dill-cured salmon served with dill mayonnaise and pickled fennel. Wonderfully fresh and refreshing, with the herbal notes coming through clearly. The slight acidity of the white wine complemented the salmon nicely.
・Catch of the day — Fresh local fish accompanied by seasonal vegetables, including potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The fish was cooked nicely, and the sauce was savory without overpowering the dish. Paired nicely with a red wine.
・Saffron cream — Served with rum raisins and marinated cherries, sweet without being cloying. Paired with a sweet white wine.
Please note that wine pairing in Norway typically means a full glass per course, significantly more than in many other countries. It's worth keeping your alcohol tolerance in mind before ordering.
The staff were welcoming to foreign tourists without being intrusive, and the waiters speak English fluently. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the décor felt elegant yet comfortable. An open kitchen offers a clear view of the chefs at work. Pricing is on the higher end by Tromsø standards, comparable to places like Fiskekompaniet. Online reservations are available for international visitors, with a smooth and user-friendly booking process. Advance reservations are strongly recommended — the restaurant appeared fully booked for lunch on the day of my visit.
Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience and a solid choice in Tromsø, provided the budget allows.
