Matsumoto Marunouchi Hotel

This hotel is definitely a three star, not a four star. They didn’t help with our bags when we arrived. The rooms are old and a bit stuffy. The location is great and the breakfast was very good. The amenities were very basic.

Very thoughtful hotel. Every part of the room is very well designed and well thought out. You can see the recommendation cards explaining the amenities throughout the room, I love that. The complimentary mineral water bottles in the room is very kind. We appreciate that. The water pressure for shower and bath is fantastic. Hotel location is perfect, short walks to our choicest restaurants and Matsumoto castle. We went to the castle both day and night and got great photos. Wonderful breakfast selections, they used quality ingredients and cooked them very well. Salad bar is plentiful,I especially loved the stir-fried mushrooms. So delicious and healthy. The breakfast room is gorgeous, it really made the experience all the more special. Above all, the staff in every department of Matsumoto Marunouchi hotel are really kind and helpful. They all made us felt very welcomed. Thank you very much.

Great boutique type hotel but with the fanciest/biggest breakfast room we've been in ! Perfect location between the Matsumoto Castle and central touristy streets. Walkable distance from/to the train station. Friendly staff, can't fault it !

Very comfortable room the bed pillows were awesome!|We used the washing machine also a great feature.Matsumoto view from the windows was very impressive with the Japanese Alps in the back. |Breakfast is more a continental type and has a bit less options than other hotels but it was very good.

Matsumoto is quite a small town (at least the touristy parts) and this hotel is located a short walk from the train station and most places you are likely to visit. There are a bunch of restaurants around, but many of them seem to require reservations (ar just don't want English speaking tourists, considering that a few who turned me down were near empty). The area is dead quiet at night.||The check in was a breeze thanks to Izumi and Saki who were both very helpful and spoke impeccable English. Even staff who didn't speak English (or were simply reluctant to do so) really went above and beyond to help. ||After having stayed in more modern looking hotels in Japan, the room interiors at Matsumoto were almost quaint which was nice for a change. It's also the only hotel I can think of which had an English manual for the remote controls for the TV and AC with buttons in Japanese, which is some lovely attention to detail. The bed was comfortable and the room of course impeccably clean.||If I ever come back to Matsumoto there is no doubt that I'll stay here again. The quality in relation to the cost is awazing.

Very helpful staff at reception and the hotel acted very quickly to arrange for an item of luggage left in our room to be forwarded to our next hotel. Great service

Great hotel 5 minute walk from the castle. Excellent and friendly staff, great breakfast and well appointed rooms. We loved our stay in Matsumoto. Hot tip: visit the soba restaurant next to the temple for delicious soba.

The is very well located hotel within walking distance of the castle. Unfortunately, the on-site car parking wasn’t in the hotel so we had to park a little way away. The rooms are immaculately clean but as usual in most Japanese hotels quite small. The bed was very comfortable. The big buffet breakfast is served in an amazing function room that is worth seeing.
