Mattenhof Resort

We stayed at the hotel on November 29, 2024. I don't mind that the hotel is old, the furniture is old, and the glass windows are in very bad condition. The real problem is that the hotel is not respectful to its guests. The loud birthday party downstairs continued past midnight. Hotels must respect guests' right to rest.

Best hotel I have stayed so far. Very clean, tidy , free water is available at reception. have lot of space to hangout at common lounge and you can eat your own food at there common area restaurant as well. Staff is very helpful. Rooms have are amazing view are are cozy. Have lot of space to keep your stuff , hang your cloths , keep your bags . Room are big enough.

Pros: 1. The room had a great view. 2. The room was quite big and had a balcony too. 3. The location is nice. 4. Has some good restaurants nearby. 5. Close to bus stop in case you are using public transport. 6. Has parking too. Cons: 1. The building is not sound proof as we could hear the conversation happening in neighbouring room clearly in our room.

I don't relate to the complaints some people have about the hotel needing a makeover. While some furniture was slightly worn out, everything was sturdy and functional. Its traditional looks add charm (as opposed to some other known hotel chains that are so standardized that they look the same in many places in Europe). The hotel is tidy and clean, has free parking and has an elevator. The employees were kind and most importantly my dog was welcome. The hotel has a bar where you can get drinks and watch sports. There isn't a breakfast option, but there is a bakery nearby. There are also a lot of restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance. Our room had an electric kettle which was very nice. The common area has a microwave. We enjoyed our stay and also recommended visiting the Jungfrau mountain top nearby.

Nice old building and staff were pleasant but rooms and staircases were rather dated and worn. The shower in our room was unusable due to being placed under a staircase so was only just over 5ft tall at highest point with the shower head mounted even lower than that. There was also no option for breakfast. From a price point on our trip this hotel was more expensive than most in other countries in Europe so taking previous points into account value for money was not great.

Very old property but, loved staying here. Very helpful owner . Fluent in English. Nice facilities. Nearby bus stop and Coop store.

It’s a beautiful resort with stunning views, we can see the Jungfrau from the balcony windows. Room service could be improved, there’s a bar and pool table. Outside food is allowed.

This hotel is a modest 3-star accommodation, so manage your expectations accordingly. If room service is a priority for you, this might not be the ideal choice. However, if a comfortable bed and a clean sleeping environment are your main concerns, then this hotel fits the bill. Considering the generally high costs in Switzerland, the affordability of this hotel is impressive, earning it a 5-star rating from me.
