Matthew's On Main

Ordered a chicken caesar, crab cakes and burger. Beer selection was good too. Service is slow, wait staff tries and the food is just o.k. Went on a Saturday evening and the place was packed. Normal to expect service to be a little slow, the kitchen looks tiny. The food warmer where plates are set before wait staff takes to customers is also tiny. At one point the wait staff asked to remove our water glasses due to running low. No problem, but the staff conversation in front of us was uncomfortable and hurried.

Great place.. friendly host, owner and everyone in the place was very accommodating. Sat on the deck on a beautiful sunny summer afternoon. The service was great and the food was perfect. I didn't know what to order. I had the server pick for me. Told her what I didn't like and she came through. I most definitely go back her. Ohh did I mention the beer was cold?? Cold....

Amazing food! The service cares so much! They were constantly making sure we were happy and let us know all our options! Which there were lots of! You can sit at the bar, or in the dining area and there's also outside seating. You can watch the game and have a beer. You can have family brunch here. They have room for big Birthday parties and work holiday parties. Amazing place! You must visit !

I've been to this restaurant for many years and always had a good experience. Tonight, from the moment we walked in the door, the waitress Dee gave us massive attitude. We were a party of six and she said there was no room even though there were three large tables at the front. We asked her if we could sit by the door and she huffed and puffed like we were wasting her time. After WE moved a table around to make room, we asked her if she could turn the AC off and she yelled 'absolutely not' to my friend and immediately walked away. We were Gobsmacked. If you're going to say no, at least say it nicely!! We ordered our food and it came after about 40 minutes of waiting. When it came to paying, we asked for the bill and we wrote it out, split it so we could pay. She came over and we asked to pay and she looked at us disgusted and said 'I am not splitting the bill, that's not happening.' In those very words and in a tone that you would talk to a disobedient child in! She said we should have told her at the beginning of the meal. I proceeded to tell her that she never asked us. She responded with a large portion of attitude and I have to tell you I am completely in shock by her utter rudeness. Dee then told us that her boss would 'agree' with her and that no one splits the bill anymore, which is complete rubbish. I've met her boss several times and I'm sure as a business woman, she would do whatever it takes to make it work. It's not like we asked her to split it 100 ways! Even if it was, she should learn to offer an alternative and treat people with respect. We spent nearly $200 in there and if she had offered some decent service, she would have received a decent tip. I will never go back there and I will not recommend anyone to go there. She should be re-trained. So disappointed.

Staff was great and food was awesome. We had the special smoked trout blt and chinease dumpling soup, it was amazing. Wish we had ordered a larger order, so go for the big bowl! The dive style bar in front of the restaurant is fun too. Sit down and have a beer if you have the afternoon or evening free!

Totally enjoyed the food, longer wait but it was all worth it. Dominique, the owner was very nice and accommodating. The chef cane out to greet the diners. Will come back here again.

Matthew 'so on main is an excellent high quality Restaurant in callicoon NY, and this is a very small Town. This restaurant serves nice lunch and dinner . They have salmon fish,cats fish, shrimp lame chops, pork and some pasta, restaurants also provides nice quality vine, beer,and soft drinks. Food is very very good, restaurants is very very nice and clean with a great location. Restaurant also has a Bar in the front with bar stool.food is very tasty and fish dinner is healthy. Looking forward to go back to the Matthew 'so On Main again.

Matthew is the chef and his wide Dominique works the floor. Food is creative and tasty. Ambience is warm and friendly. The bar is separate from the tables. Always enjoy our meals there.
