Matthias Rex Monument

The city is part of the hungarian and romanian common history. Both of the nation can be proud of the architecture, the universities culture and the mostly youth population how is eager to add more and more to this town. The only downside I have experienced was the traffic and parking situation. Other than that I trully recommend to spend some time here.

Nice square in the middle of cluj. Surrounded by coffee shops and nice little businesses.

A must see when you are in Cluj Napoca. The monument is impressive by size, but when you get the cathedral in the background it gets to be even more impressive.

The “Matthias Rex” Monument, located in Unirii Square, Cluj-Napoca, is an iconic statue honoring King Matthias Corvinus, one of Hungary’s greatest rulers. This impressive Gothic-style masterpiece, surrounded by the majestic St. Michael’s Church, symbolizes power and unity. A must-see for history and art lovers visiting the heart of the city!

An absolute gorgeous are to visit around Christmas time. Christmas music playing, little wooden lodes ( store fronts) all lit up selling hand made goods, mugs of hot chocolate and tea, a carousal, Historic buildings and Monuments, hot chimney cakes (hollow cakes covered in cinnamon sugar, cooked over a fire), and the sound of people laughing on the outdoor skating rink. When we went in 2014 Coca Cola and Santa Clause also happened to be there. Literally the most perfect "hallmark Christmas" you can imagine.

If you are in Cluj, take break to visit this place Mathias Rex, beautiful architecture behind the church. You will also find good restaurants near the monument. Take a break and have a visit to Mathias Rex. There is a nice restaurant called Marty Eatery which serves delicious food with loads of options, I personally liked Chicken wings with few chilled pints of beers.
