Yelp
Where to begin? Well, unfortunately for me, money is an issue. I understand for some jet setting families money really is no issue and dropping 500 or more per night at a luxurious Maui resort is no big deal. Good for them, I'm happy for them. However, I couldn't swing that and needed to find something a tad more reasonable. That's all relative though, isn't it?
In any case, as I was doing my research before booking the Maui Coast Hotel I was looking for several factors. Obviously nice, clean, good reviews, proximity to the beach and obviously price. As most vacationers know, for a resort directly on the beach, you're now spending closer to 500 per night. So just getting close to the beach was good enough for me, and these guys did the trick.
Literally across the street! The hotel provides all the free beach towels you need, walk out front, cross the street and to the left one small block and there's a really nice public beach with life guards. And I'm tellin' ya, it's a really nice beach, filled with friendly sea turtles swimming nonstop (see photos for evidence).
Across the street from said beach is a rental joint that you can rent umbrellas for shade, beach chairs, boogie boards, paddle boards and the whole nine! All at a very reasonable rate.
But I digress, back to the hotel. Really nice! Great service! Included with your resort fee are free bikes to check out, an amazing gym, a free shuttle to take you anywhere within say a five mile radius, and with a quick phone call they'll pick you up too.
On a side note, this was at the tail end of a longer vacation where I was dealing with traffic in Honolulu for too long, and Vegas traffic to boot. So the last thing I wanted to do was rent another car. I wanted stress free non-driving time. So, that was one of the selling points for me here. Within walking distance is a slew of shops and eateries. However, if indeed you're feelin' a little whooped from too much sun at the beach that day, the shuttle driver has your back! Tip accordingly!
The pool is very nice, along with a nice pool bar and restaurant (if you've had your fill of sand), and they're open until the wee hours!
There is a concierge on property where you can book luaus, or whatever more exciting adventures await you, along with a rental car joint if you change your mind about not wanting to drive anywhere.
All this for 300 per night! Mind you, that's still a pretty big pill to swallow for a lot of us, but I thought it was quite the value all things considered.
I think anyone reading would be equally satisfied here.
Cheers!
