Stopped by Maui Estate Chocolate for a tasting and enjoyed it! They offer two different tasting options, which is great if you want to try a variety of flavors. If you’re not into dark chocolate, I’d recommend sticking with the milk chocolate options, they were smoother and more balanced. My two favorite flavors were the mango and the peppermint milk chocolates both were really unique and full of flavor. Didn't do the chocolate tour but I’d definitely come back to experience it next time. The chocolate quality overall was very high, and it’s a great stop if you're in Maui .

Google
This is not your typical tourist trap. The tour guide isn’t reading from a prepared script. At least the one we had didn’t. We liked the small group approach and the educational focused tour. We also liked the charity work the estate performs and how it donates all its profits. The chocolate tasting experience is very good and you will leave satisfied.

Sunday sunset jazz music was excellent tonight with Tanama Colibri and quartet. This location and views are beautiful to take in while the live music is flowing for 2 solid hours. However, the food options are uninspiring, which is the reason for taking off 1 star. The $32 cheese platter that you can reserve by prepaying when you pay for your online entry tickets was served without any serving utensils, so picking everything up, including the cheese slices, with you hands was required. Not a good thing, since it is promoted as a sharable platter. This cheese platter comes with an unsliced very small boule bread. Again, pick up with you bare hands to rip up the bread boule in order to share it? No... and no one at our table dared to touch it. And the water crackers that came in the mix were really unappetizing. Our friends ended up taking it all home. While you are there, definitely order some of the estate's wonderful chocolates, and maybe order one of their fresh made ice creams or one of their interesting milk shakes. I definitely have a yearn to return, but I will eat supper before I go, leaving room for the chocolate and ice cream treats and maybe pair that with one of their special wines to enjoy with the wonderful live music.

This place was awesome. Mandy was our tour guide and she was so knowledgeable , friendly, and great with kids! The farm tour was great, we learned so much, it was mostly in the shade. I loved the treehouse chocolate tasting at the end! You get to see the views above the cocoa trees! We made friends and really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you for the great experience and awesome tour guide!!

Google
Awesome tour of their chocolate factory led by their founder and CEO, Gunar. Highly recommend. Got to try their different types of chocolate and gain a deeper understanding of how truly good chocolate is made, vs what big chocolate brands share. Well worth the visit, and the chocolate is delicious!

Google
Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate in Lahaina is amazing! The chocolate is super tasty, the views are beautiful, and the staff is friendly. You can even see how the chocolate is made. Best of all, the money they make helps local charities. A sweet stop in every way! Also, Rochelle was so nice and friendly!

Google
Very unique experience from the CEO himself who does an excellent job. The price is high but you will understand why once you taste the chocolate and understand their unique concept. Highly recommend it. If you already know about the chocolate making process then skip the tour and do at least their tasting. They have very unique flavors.

Google
In a word - Amazing! Where do I begin? The prices were reasonable, the chocolate was delicious, the staff were knowledgeable. I don’t have a single negative thing to say. Of all the things we did in Maui, this was the most value for the money. My son had the brownie, my husband sampled the chocolate and I did a flight where the very expert staff advised me on which chocolates paired best with which wines. And I can’t believe how reasonably priced everything was. Kudos to all!

Yelp
Went for Sunday Jazz night. Amazing music and great atmosphere. We had a pairing with drinks (red wine and rye) and it was so good. Some of the best chocolate I've had. Service was lovely, highly recommend!

Yelp
This are comments on Sunday afternoon Jazz Night. Park on the street or in the small lot. You are directed from the small chocolate counter to head upstairs. If you want to purchase a box of chocolate they have several tins. Even samples. The second floor was roomy and breezy. Views spanned burned out, but rebuilding downtown Lahaina, the Emerald Plaza area above Foodland Farms and Lahainaluna Road/LLHS neighborhood. Servers were friendly and helpful navigating 4 sheets(!?) of sprawling drink menus. There was a $32 cheese platter that had 4 types of cheese, a few olives, nuts and crackers. One was a double cream that was more like a triple cream brie due to warm weather. Wine, beer, cocktails, coffees and other snacks are available. Some selections can be paired with their tiny flavored chocolate squares. The (once fired?) Red Dirt Jazz Band started on time and volume was not too loud. You may recognize local musicians. Not much dialogue, song descriptions or banter with audience during their 90 minute set. No vocals.

Yelp
This stop was one of the highlights of our trip!! We came through Lahaina in Early December and were originally unable to get tickets to either the Farm or Factory Tours. We had settled on creating our own tasting session in the Rooftop Lounge area, where we struck up a conversation with one of the Managers, Lauren. Lauren was absolutely amazing. She was so sweet and friendly, and she was able to get us in on both tours for the next day. The Factory Tour given by Gunnars (the Owner) was so cool, and then the tour out to the Farm was also fantastic. Afterwards, we bought our own little samplers to bring home and share with our families for Christmas! Everyone loved it!!

Yelp
Great stop near Lahaina. There is an option to do a chocolate tour but we opted to just check out the store and do a flight. Great options for flavors. Tasty chocolate, makes a good souvenir to take home! Upstairs was closed due to weather.

Yelp
This was a nice afternoon activity. Chaz and Christian were friendly, service was good. We chose multiple flights and tried every chocolate on the menu :) Our favorites were the Dark Mango and Dark Milk Yuzu & Coffee. They sell the chocolates in the shop on the lower floor but the deals are actually better if you buy online and have it delivered to your door. Overall, we highly recommend this place. It's a shame it's not open in the evenings on weekends days, it would be a great place to hangout for a drink and a bite.

Yelp
We wanted to squeeze another activity in while we were in Maui and we found the Maui Chocolate Tours. Unfortunately they were all booked when we wanted to go (protip: plan ahead and book online before!) but they do offer tastings in their factory shop so we decided to stop by the estate for that. The shop and cafe is small with only one table in the shop itself. They do have a rooftop/2nd level, but unfortunately it was closed when we were there. We didn't mind huddling up around the table though! Lucky for us, they were offering a BOGO deal on their flights. If you buy one chocolate flight, you get to one free. Their flights are $6 for 5 squares (10 with the deal) and $10 for 9 squares (18 with the deal). I love chocolate so you know I had to go for the 18 squares! The squares are small, but there was so many. We ended up taking a bunch home. My friends and I ended up doing our own tasting just for fun. We used one of their menus and went down the line (we did have 18 to try after all) and rated what we thought of each. + My favorites: the OMG (orange mango guava) dark chocolate with the OMG dark milk close behind; the blood orange dark milk; and the Maui Mokka Cappuccino dark milk + Ones I would pass on next time: surprisingly, the estate grown 60% dark milk; the yuzu coffee dark milk; the yuzu dark + The one I was surprised I liked: lemongrass dark milk (very interesting but pretty good!) The staff was so awesome. I wish I caught the name of the gal helping us because she was so cool. She kept bringing some bonus chocolates out for us since she saw we were doing our own whole tasting and that really made the experience fun too. We ended up getting some chocolates for souvenirs too. Def worth a visit if you're into chocolate!

Yelp
Really great spot! They have a beautiful upstairs patio overlooking the water, with great toys for kids, wine to pair with your chocolate and overall good vibes. We loved our stop here! Unique place when you are looking for things to do in Maui!

Yelp
Was hoping to jump on a last minute chocolate tour as we were playing the day all loosey goosey. Even though there was availability online, when we got in to ask if we could just book in person, they said it the tour was cancelled cause only one person signed up. They did recommend hanging out upstairs on the covered patio and that was an amazing suggestion. The upstairs area was very comfy with a bunch of open tables, some high, some low, and even some couches. They had games and toys for little ones as well. Service was friendly and we did a few chocolate flights. I will say, coming from someone who just really dislikes chocolate, I really enjoyed everyone of these options. Neither the dark nor milk chocolate was particularly bitter, and each time the fruit flavors really showed through. Going downstairs to purchase some, we were told they'll ship for free on orders over $100, but that first time online orders had a 20% off promo code and so we ended up just ordering online and having it shipped. Everything was super easy and the chocolate was great, couldn't have been happier.

Yelp
The chocolate here is so good. Honestly feel like it's the best chocolate I've had. Not too bitter and slightly sweet. The fruity flavored ones were so bomb and would love to buy more chocolate here in the future.

Debbie L.

Yelp
No respect for people's time! Signed up for 2:30pm factory tour, arrived at 2:15am per instructions and by 2:50pm, the tour guide / owner Gunars was still finishing an earlier tour with no ETA. Very bad customer service.

Yelp
When my mom asked if I wanted to go on a chocolate tour, I said well of course when are we going? Being that I absolutely love anything & everything chocolate. Plus I was just excited to check out a place I've never been to before. Although I truly had no idea what to expect & boy was I in for a treat. The chocolate factory location is located in Lahaina on the corner of Kupuohi St & Ulupono St. Plus as an added bonus, their parking lot is shaded. So you don't have to worry about baking in your vehicle when you do leave the property. As for walking around the building to the front entrance, you'll find a beautiful wooden door. Inside you'll find their logo on the wall on the right. With their refrigerated counter to your left. The cashiers were so nice & helped get us checked in for our chocolate factory tour. Handing us our factory tour badges & a hair net to wear while walking around inside the facility. We were also informed it was our lucky day. The two us us were the only ones booked for this time slot so we were about to get a private, VIP tour by the CEO himself. So while we had some time to kill, we scooped out the shop on the first floor. Then headed upstairs to find the cutest open air lounge area. On one side you have a beautiful view of the mountains & from the other a gorgeous ocean view. Plus since our time slot was towards the end of the day it was a little cooler with a nice breeze. When it was our turn to do the tour, Gunnar introduced himself & lead us down the stairs to the back entrance. Before we went inside he pointed out that awesome parking structure roof is actually solar panels. They're 100% off the grid & the entire factory is ran off of those solar panels. Inside he lead us from room to room explaining the importance of each. From the very beginning of receiving the product from the farm. To storage, prep & to the finished product. Plus how the building itself was designed & built around the equipment needed to make this a functional operation. The amount of research & resources needed to make this chocolate factory a success. Is simply impressive & now from my point of view. After seeing the whole process on how this tiny but tasty bite size chocolate square that ended up in the palm of my hand. I don't think I can fully express enough just how educational this tour was for me. There's a ton of things I realized I didn't know & it was such a joy having this opportunity to experience this for myself. At the end of the tour we ended up back upstairs at the lounge, which I really liked the atmosphere. There was live music & mini flower bouquets on the tables. Even the two working the lounge were super nice & helpful on recommendations. We had a couple of chocolate squares to sample. Along with some chocolate flavors of our choice. I also liked the opportunity to order a chocolate pairing. I tried a sake with the lemongrass & the Taylor Fladgate 20 year old tawny port with the guava. Plus we both got a gift card that we spent downstairs in the shop to take on the go. If you've never done the tour I highly recommend it as your introduction to the brand & to better understand their business mission. Like did you know their goal is to donate millions back into the community? At least I didn't until I got to meet the CEO & to see how involved he really is. His enthusiasm to provide quality product & to give back to our community is inspiring. Not to mention he came out of retirement to do what he loves. I've already promised my fiancé that I'd take him here to experience some of my new favorites like the Lilikoi Chocolate Milkshake & the Lilikoi Chocolate Mousse. Plus who knows maybe they'll experiment with some new chocolate flavors like Lilikoi, Matcha & Ube. Until next time! XOXO, ChelsieFletcher

Yelp
Wife loves chocolate, husband is OK with it. Husband loves tour of the farm and learned a great deal. Like he really likes good chocolate and can eat more chocolate than wife. Shakes at the main site were the best chocolate shakes we have ever had! Caleb is a great tour guide and made it an interesting and enjoyable event. Well worth the time. Husband wants to go back and do the factory tour. Putting in for a golden ticket.

Yelp
Founded on Maui in 2013, the spouse brought home an assorted tin of their dark chocolates which is how I got to try them. THE GOODS: Calamansi Kiss of lime that went well with bitterness of dark chocolate. Maui Mango It was hard to detect any mango flavor. If I didn't read the label, I'd have thought it was plain dark chocolate. Blood Orange Never having eaten a blood orange, I didn't know what to expect but there was a slightly citrusy, bitter flavor. 2% Maui Mokka Coffee Smooth, mild and pure. Guava Initial flavor note tasted of licorice, with just dark chocolate flavor thereafter. Peppermint With subtle peppermint notes, this was the best-tasting combo of the bunch. Lemongrass The blend of lemongrass flavor & chocolate was a surprisingly good marriage. OVERALL: IMO, if they add some crunchy salt crystals to these little squares, it'd make a world of positive difference.

Yelp
What an amazing experience! Brandy was the most gracious tour guide and what the history and values of this company is humbling and special. The chocolate is spectacular!

Yelp
4.5 stars! We went for Jazz Sunday and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The setting, the music, the wine, the cheese plate- all were just spot on. The whole place had a great vibe and we will definitely be back. Oh, ahem, the chocolate was good too! We loved the service and the cost was doable for locals. Why not 5 stars? They can't do anything about the atrocious play bouncy jungle gym adventure eyesore right outside the panoramic "tree house", nor the fact it was uncomfortably warm in December at sundown, but they can do something about the metal chairs which are torture to sit on for more than 15 minutes. Next time I will bring a pillow- seriously.

Yelp
We stopped in and were greeted instantly. We decided to do a tasting and there were many options to fit your taste! They had a nice lounge area upstairs where you can relax and taste chocolates. They even have toys to keep the kids busy! The chocolates are great, and everything is pretty self-explanatory when you're there. I think the pricing is reasonable given the quality you get. I highly recommend the Uganda dark chocolate and the dark chocolate guava. I didn't care for any of the milk dark chocolates, as they seemed a little chalky in texture. That isn't a typo either...they call them milk dark chocolates (not milk chocolate like the common term because it is darker than typical milk chocolate). Add this place to your list of stops while visiting Maui!

Yelp
I went there for the cacao farm tour, did not do the factory tour or did I do the upstairs thing that Im seeing in the reviews. However the tour I went on was absolutely amazing, our tour guide Caleb was tons of fun and answered every single question people asked. Even if they were bad questions, he was also extremely knowledgeable and taught everyone more than we knew before we got there. Then the chocolate tasting upstairs he told us all about the different types of chocolate and I learned that dark chocolate might be something I actually enjoy. All the chocolates were amazing but especially the chocolate made from their estates cacao. PS. All their profits are donated and they sell online, which I will be ordering as soon as Im home and I would highly recommend if you love chocolate to give them a try whether you visit or just check them out online.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience to learn all about chocolate and taste what true chocolate should be! If you are a chocolate lover (or even if you're not), this is an awesome experience...

Yelp
We just had to find the time to do a proper chocolate tasting. If you like chocolate you'll definitely enjoy your experience here. Kick back, eat some chocolate, and enjoy those nice Hawaiian breezes...

Yelp
1.8.24 We found this place on a rainy day and it turned out to be a highlight of our trip. The whole experience was incredible. Every staff member we met, including the owner and chocolatier, were personal and genuine, along with providing above and beyond service. We tried the chocolate mouse, chocolate French press, and brownie, plus endless chocolates (FREE samples!) - everything was great. Feels so good to support a business that is ethical and sustainable and selflessly cares for the community. Also, the location is well designed & cleanly :) Bring your family, kiddos, and friends to get to know these lovely people and enjoy a great time on their rooftop patio! (hot cocoa & milkshakes & coloring pages/games - great for kids & adults alike!) Support Lahaina

Yelp
Maui Kuia Chocolate is a wonderful find. There are options ranging from a full tour with the owner, flights of chocolate tastings, chocolate treats, or a bar upstairs with drink and chocolate pairings. I am not normally a dark chocolate person, and also was a little skeptical of so many fruit flavored chocolates, but these were such a treat! Our favorites were the Dark Chocolate Coffee, Dark Chocolate Guava, Dark Milk Mango, and the OMG in either Dark or Dark Milk. Sky was incredibly friendly and helpful downstairs and Jamie was an absolute delight upstairs. It's great seeing people passionate about what they do/the product but also who just enjoy being in the people business. And it's wonderful knowing enjoying their treats is helping the area rebuild!

Yelp
I have enjoyed Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolate over the years and was finally able to stop by their factory in Lahaina with my family over the summer. The shop itself is small, but efficient and their chocolate bar offers not only chocolate, but also milkshakes, hot chocolate, and baked treats like brownies, cookies, cakes, and more! I was hoping their hot chocolate was more like European-style hot chocolate, but unfortunately not. However, the girl helping me was very kind and said she could make it a bit more thick to suit my tastes and so I got that and a milkshake! We also got a brownie a la mode and a chocolate flight. Also, because it was a Sunday, a handful of the items were 50% off. We headed upstairs where their seating/tasting area is located. Let me tell you, the view up there is gorgeous and a great place to enjoy views of the West Maui Mountains and the ocean. They brought our treats to us shortly after and we were able to enjoy them on their comfy couches. The milkshakes were tasty, but our favorite had to be the brownie a la mode. Oh my gosh, yum! Wish we got two and will definitely be back for that in the future. I also have to mention that the customer service we received that day was exceptional and I wish I could remember the name of the girl who helped us, but she was really informative, answered my questions, and great with my son. What I really love about Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolate though is the way in which they support our local community here on Maui. What started out as a hobby in 2013 when the first hybrid cacao trees were planted became a full blown operation by 2016 when they decided to begin making and selling chocolate with a bigger mission in mind. Owners Gunars and JoRene Valkirs recognized the needs in the non-profit community and wanted to do more. And so, they donate 100% of net-profits back to Maui charities and nonprofit organizations. SO AMAZING! On this Thank You Thursday, I am incredibly grateful for local businesses like this who give back to our Maui community. Supporting them and their mission is a no brainer. I hope to come back sometime and check out their farm tour and tastings! Fun fact... Dr. Gunars Valkirs invented the first rapid visual pregnancy test and now he's making delicious chocolates for us to enjoy, haha :)

Yelp
Their chocolate is incredible which makes sense given farming chocolate in Maui is pretty crazy to begin with. We took the chocolate factory tour with their CEO and he is a super interesting person (former PhD and ultra successful life science researcher with many patents that retired into chocolateering)
google avatar

Gina T.

Yelp
We loved the tour, so definitely try that sometime if you get a chance. But omg, the cafe! I ordered the lilikoi chocolate milkshake and it blew me away. Plus a chocolate oatmeal cookie, delish. This was possibly my favorite activity in Maui.
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
Had such a fun experience today. The owner/CEO walked us through the process of harvesting and making small Batch chocolate. The 10 different flavors were so good! And what a great view of the coast! Definitely recommend this experience!!
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
We stopped by to check out the store and were greeted by super friendly staff who gave us an intro of the chocolate making process and patiently answered many questions. We decided to stay for a flight of 5 tasting, which was a fun and inexpensive way to try various high quality flavors. Personally felt like this was a great way to gain a high level understanding / taste without a tour.

Yelp
We did the tasting experience while have the owner, Gunner, providing how he started his business. Wow! I was amazed of his entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Gunner is quite the chocolate aficionado, I guess one would be to run this kind of business. The tasting experience is probably geared for adults, our 10 year old was a little bit bored, and Hersey's is still her go to. I would highly recommend the tasting experience and have the honor to listen to Gunner.

Yelp
Chocolate..check...Jazz..check...drinkies..check..equals a great sunset upstairs at Maui Kuia. Their jazz nights with chocolate paired flights are such a lovely unusual idea! Great date night ;)

Yelp
We spent a lovely afternoon at the Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolate tasting in Lahaina. They offer cacao farm tours, chocolate tastings and alcohol pairings with an overview from the owner.  The building is located in the Lahaina business center across from the old Star Noodle building. They have an on site chocolate manufacturing plant, retail store and the tastings are on the second floor an open air pavillion. We opted for the 1.5 hr chocolate tasting with back story and overview from owner Dr. Gunars Valkirs. The chocolate farm is only a few miles away in Lahaina. The owner was new to chocolate and started his business in 2013 with the store and Lahaina facility open to public in 2020.  I found Dr. Gunars Valkirs explanation of the cacoa growing, harvesting and processing fascinating. For our tasting we had 3 different rounds of tastings which could be paired with a variety of alcoholic drinks. The owner explained the process and showed a brief narrated video. The chocolate was excellent and it has won several national awards. In addition, 100% net profits are given back to the Maui community and non profits.  Make a reservation for a tasting or tour and enjoy this new and unique Maui experience.  Don't forget you can order directly from them and have your chocolate mailed to you.

Yelp
Tucked away off the beaten path in Lahaina is the most amazing chocolate factory. When you walk in there is a small bar where you can buy a flight of chocolate (the same concept of a flight of wine). There are people there to help explain everything. The first thing we needed to know was the difference between the dark and dark milk chocolate. Once we found out what that was we chose out flight of 5. There are interesting infusions in their chocolate with local tropical fruits and they are Devine. We took it one step further by ordering a chocolate milkshake with strawberry and guava. Everything we had was flavorful and special. Upstairs , in the open air 2nd floor was where you could get a tour, have a tasting (or class) and drink wine with the chocolate. Because it was a really hot day and the space is open air (no air conditioning and heat rises) we opted to stay downstairs in the cool space. We will need to go back at a time that is cooler to experience it. This is definitely worth the trip. If you are a chocolate lover, this should not be missed.

Yelp
The chocolate is amazing and the tour was well worth it!! The owner himself gave the tour and I learned so much. The tasting afterwards was very enjoyable and the cacoa sorbet was exceptional. Jamie sat with us after our tasting and shared many interesting facts about the company. We had plenty of chocolate leftover to bring home as part of the tour package.

Yelp
We brought our twins 6-year-old boys to the chocolate factory and we were pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoyed it. We got a hot chocolate, a milkshake, and coffee and hung out for a good hour upstairs in the open air cafe. They had some magna tiles, wood puzzles, and coloring for the kids. There was also a great view of the scrap yard next door which the boys loved and a great view of the city which the adults appreciated. Super nice people working there as well. Love that 100% of proceeds go to the local community!

Yelp
The good: I did the chocolate taste tour that took place on their covered rooftop space. The space was roomy and airy. The tables and loungewear were very nice. We watched a presentation on the TV and had Ruby guide us thru each chocolate taste test. We tried 9 different flavors of chocolate and had a cup of water as well. At the end, our group of 4 were gifted two camping cups with the business logo on it. Their downstairs area sells treats like cookies, mousse cakes, fancy $10 milkshakes and of course, chocolates. We tried dark chocolates, fruit chocolates (guava, calamansi) and dark milk chocolates (I've never seen a dark milk chocolate before). Ruby told us about a new chocolate being developed where citric acid is added to turn the chocolate red (called ruby chocolate). The bad: Chocolate nibs were passed around for us to see during the event but it would've been cool if we got to eat or try the nibs. It also would've been cool to have a tour of the facility (if there was anything to see). The interesting: They're a nut free facility so you won't find any chocolates with macadamia nuts (or nuts in general) here. It was cute how an older lady in the group next to us ate all of her chocolates all at once back to back rather than wait for the guide's prompt and descriptions of each chocolate. Meanwhile, her husband (I think) barely touched his chocolates the entire time.

Yelp
The chocolate tasting, which included 10 different chocolates in three 'flights' (like wine) was simply amazing. The talk given by the founder, a former biotech chemist, was a crash course in cocao production, botany, and supply chain logistics... and was extremely interesting! During the tasting one could order wine which was perfectly paired to a specific chocolate, milkshakes (I had the extraordinarily magnificent salted caramel), or dessert brownies from the friendly, efficient, and professional staff. Downstairs, in the retail section, were free samples and multiple ways to box your purchases. This isn't the $2.99 flavorless chocolate available at the grocery or convenience store. This is elegant, high end chocolate to be slowly enjoyed and savored. It's worth every penny!

Yelp
Wonderful experience! We were treated to Ku'ia chocolate while attending the Old Lahina Luau and researched the company. We arranged for a tour during our stay and it was nothing short of fantastic. The owner gave the private tour giving us details about the process of making chocolate. My husband and I were truly amazed at the owner and what he and his team have created. We sampled lots of chocolate but also tried their flight pairing and a chocolate milkshake. Everything was out of this world. Love the chocolate and all that they are doing to support Maui and Lahina.

Cathy V.

Yelp
We wanted to do something different on Maui and decided to give this a try. what an amazing experience! Gunars took us on the tour and explained each step of the chocolate making process, answering all our questions in detail. At the end of the tour, you are treated to a "flight" of chocolates flavors that you get to choose. Every one was delicious and unique! In addition, they serve hot chocolate, coffee with chocolate, chocolate shakes and much more. They will even pair your favorite chocolate with wine! Don't miss this wonderful and delicious experience! Oh, and if you need another reason to take the tour or buy some chocolate, the company is a non-profit; donating all profits to the community. Stop by and take the tour. You will not regret it!

Yelp
When my intention to visit for a tour and tasting got derailed in 2020, I did the next best thing. I ordered three 50 piece bags (maui mokka, lemongrass, and blood orange) and a box of grown and made in maui darks. Covering most of their flavors, I created my own chocolate tasting at home or better yet, in Monterey from the other side of the ocean. They were in the process of getting labels of their mango which they were kind enough to include a piece for me to try and then guava at the end of the year which made a wonderful Christmas gift. All chocolates are made in Mau`i with most of their cacao beans from Brazil and Ecuador but if you want Mau`i grown beans, choose the "Grown and Made in Maui" products. Net profits go to a variety of Maui charities making it even more of a reason to support them. When I was finally able to return to Maui in person a year later, I ordered some of my favorites to bring back and happened to stop by during their Happy Hour on Wednesday where I was able to do a discounted chocolate tasting from the correct side of the Pacific Ocean this time. Gorgeous views, immaculate setup, all I could think was better late than never.

Yelp
Been here four times in a week. Yes, I'm hooked.  At first, their radio ad brought me in for a Lilikoi Chocolate Milkshake. YUM! We got a round of milkshakes the first time. I really enjoyed my Lilikoi Chocolate milkshake, not overpowering. The rest of the family got the Salted Caramel milkshake.  They actually said the Salted Caramel wasn't sweet enough. Ku'ia makes their shakes with almond milk and gelato. On Wednesday,  Saturday,  and Sunday- Ku'ia offers an ALL DAY HAPPY HOUR  on hot chocolate( three flavor options), brownie of the day, chocolate mousse,  and 9 piece tasting flight. The tasting must be enjoyed on site; however, the other items can be taken to go. We returned the next day to do their 9 piece chocolate tasting, classic hot chocolate,  and chocolate mousse.  We did the tasting upstairs on their open aired deck. You can look out at the ocean or the West Maui mountains. There are a lot of tables and easy to social distance. We loved the Dark Chocolate Calamansi and the Dark Chocolate Guava. The lemongrass flavor really came through but it was not our favorite. Sipping hot chocolate and eating chocolate is a perfect way to enjoy the afternoon.   Ku'ia offers a tour of their farm. I didn't get to do it but I overheard several customers who said they enjoyed it so much they came back to get more chocolate and treats from their menu.  Ku'ia donates to several local organizations and you can order their products online.  I appreciate that they will ship or you can pickup at the store.  Definitely worth a stop in Lahaina!

Yelp
My wife wanted to go here as we never been even though we've been coming to Maui for 20 years. But once she was looking online and saw the price of the tour, I had my doubts if it's worth that kind of money. But after only being on the island, a couple days, we had a couple of different people telling us what a great place to visit so we just went by with no reservation. Found out they had a whole open deck up upstairs where you could do liquor and chocolate tastings, which we decided to do. We did 3, one with white wine, one with red wine, and one with liquors and they were all fantastic. The chocolate is excellent. The alcohol is great but what made it better was Colleen our server she was terrific. We definitely recommend swinging by and at the very minimum doing the tasting up on the deck. They also offer live music up there as well. You should definitely put this on your list of places to visit while in Maui.

Yelp
I highly recommend the tour. It was very interesting to learn the ins and outs of chocolate making and learn the history of the land and the company. I was surprised to learn this company gives 100 percent of its profits back to the community. The treetop tasting was gorgeous and something really fun and different. I only wish they added a short Factory tour. Also our tour host who works only part time was very engaging. The last stop (the bathroom) is an absolute must!

Yelp
We took a chocolate tour with Maui Ku'ia when we visited in October 2022 and it was one of the highlights of our trip! Absolutely fascinating, and of course delicious! It was so fun to see the cacao plant every step of the way, from growing in a football-size pod on the tree to the incredible final product. Our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable and our whole group seemed to have a good time. Taking the tour gives you a complimentary cooler bag to protect any chocolate you purchase. Our chocolate made it back to Indiana safely and now that cooler makes for a nice brag of a lunchbox!

Yelp
The tour was done by the CEO Gunnar's. We found out the tours were part of the nonprofit atmosphere of the company. Support local and an American company. We bought chocolate to bring home as gifts and fo consumption. Staff great

Yelp
My husband and I are locals and wanted to do something not too touristy on Maui for a mini honeymoon. We accidentally mixed up our tour start time but the staff at Kuia Chocolate Estate were able to accommodate us at a later start time; already a 5-star service for that! We were in an A/C van for a short trip to the farm. Our tour guide Lucas was very knowledgeable and friendly, he wanted to get to know everyone in our group. The chocolate tasting portion was great as we were up in their treehouse surrounded by the ocean and mountain views of Lahaina. We stopped by their retail store to buy some snacks to bring back home. There was a mix up with our order after we left the store; we were able to solve the issue with their staff and again they were so accommodating for it! Excellent customer service for us :) For the tour, I think it would've been better if we were able to go into their greenhouse or stop by outside of it just so that we can also see another portion of the chocolate making process. We were already so close to it it would've been nice to see. Otherwise, we loved our experience here and will definitely continue to stop by their retail shop/cafe anytime we revisit Maui.

Yelp
My two teen sons and I loved this chocolate tasting. It was one of our favorite activities of our vacation. The chocolate is very unique and flavorful and the presentation was incredibly interesting and educational. We would definitely recommend. I also encourage you to go early in the day, if the weather is going to be warm, since the tasting area is open air and could get pretty toasty. We tried the "ice cream" made out of the cocoa pod juice and recommend that, too - so unique! It's very impressive that they've already won global chocolate competitions, despite being relatively new at it. Especially if you like dark chocolate, this is a MUST SEE!

Yelp
My husband and I had a great chocolate and drink tastings today. We had not been back on that street since we saw it being built in 2019 when dining at Star Noodle. Star Noodle moved and we decided to just go up during this visit to Maui and check what happened to the chocolate factory. Discovered it was alive and well and open for tasting and tours! We had the single origin and flavored flights. I liked the unfiltered sake with my chocolates better than the tequila. My husband thought both the Zinfandel and the rum were interesting with his. As for the chocolates we tasted, I really liked the lime and the lemongrass. He liked the Ugandan dark milk the best. We're going to return and create our own tasting with nine chocolates and our choice of drink. Since we were on our way to Kahului today, we had no way of keeping anything cool, so we did not buy any gifts or chocolates to enjoy in our timeshare, but plan to purchase as well. Lovely local chocolates that will be great for gifts that you can't order on Amazon. Worth a visit!

Yelp
What a fun stop! We decided to make our own chocolate tasting. We got to taste 5 different chocolates which is quite a bit for a tasting and great for the price of the experience. After our roof top tasting we opted to split a delicious salted Carmel shake. We will definitely come back this trip and enjoy the wide range of chocolates grown locally and profits to local charities. They even have a covered garage that is free to park in. Soo nice!

Yelp
The shop survived the 2023 wildfire but their farm / crops did not. The shop was closed from Aug 8 until October so I was happy that it was back open while I was visiting. Purchased lots of chocolate bars to take back home with me. Tried two of their samples (Maui coffee and Cappuccino). So freaking delicious! If you love chocolate and want to support a local company, I highly recommend this shop. Also the staff were lovely and very passionate about the shop.
