"Maupiti, Society Islands Maupiti, the smallest and most isolated of the Society Islands, feels like an unblemished tropical playground, where tranquility trumps everything else and romantic love stories of deserted sparkling white-sand beaches surrounded by shimmering aqua lagoons are realized. The best beaches are on the five motus, or small sandbars that also house pensions, ringing the main island. Of the five motus, Motu Tiapaa has the best beaches by far. For surfing and decent kite-boarding, you'll want to head to Motu Tuanai, which also houses the airport. Serving up a Robinson Crusoe version of paradise, Maupiti seduces lovers and adventurers on a quest for the heavenly Polynesia of lore, but it is not for everyone. Time moves slowly on this island, and the resort focus here is on small family run "pensions" (guesthouses), not luxury five-star resorts with multiple restaurants and Wi-Fi. If you're the kind of traveler who's craving a temporary separation from your Facebook account, and love watching the sun set over the lagoon while reading a book or chowing on fresh caught seafood with the family that owns the pension where you're sleeping, Maupiti may be the perfect island for you. Oh, and if you stay at any of the guesthouses here, sign up for full-board, as it isn't really the kind of place where many restaurants exist."

My favourite island of Polynesia. Just stunning lagoon and views

The island is beautiful, the hike to the summit garanties magnificent views. But it is very difficult for non French speaking guests to find hospitality on this island especially in the pricey pensions. We were never treated so unwelcome in whole French Polynesia than on Maupiti.

Maupiti is Bora Bora’s little sister
Yes, these incredible shades of blue are real, probably the most beautiful lagoon so far!

I've been there years ago. People are wonderful, the main beach is a breathtaking place and the sand is so fine. I have a lot of school friends over there it was such a good time being with them. Be mindful when you got there

There are places in The Islands of Tahiti where you can indulge in five-star, brand name resorts, and there are places where you can immerse yourself into the ebb and flow of daily life, experiencing this island nation like a local. If you’re looking for a place where the brand names are sand, sea, sun, time and tide, the Maupiti will wrap you in her arms and gently indulge you like a member of the family.
Located 195 miles (315 km) northwest of the island of Tahiti and 25 miles (40 km) West of Bora Bora, Maupiti is a tiny island (7 miles / 11 square kilometers), secluded and authentic. Maupiti will immediately seduce you with its splendor and quiet pace of life. Magnificent sceneries, endless white sandy beaches both on the island and the motu, legendary rocky peaks and ancient marae all blend nicely with the friendly and smiling style of the islanders.
