Great experience. Maureen was very accommodating and friendly. When you walk into the house you can't help but fall in love with the architecture. Breakfast was delish! Fresh Island fruit and yummy quiche, plenty for all. We had no trouble finding the B&B and took Maureen's advice upon departing to visit Richardson's Beach at the end of the road (1 more mile). Wish we had more time, would definitely stay here again.

We spent two very nice evenings at Maureen's B&B. The rooms and bathrooms were quaint and clean with plenty of space. Maureen is a great resource for things to do on this side of the island. One of our favorite mornings was spent on Richardson beach (1 mile away) at Maureen's recommendation.

Amazing house! Just stunning, with beautiful lava rock garden, several perfect nooks to lounge with a book or a drink (or both); not having time to take advantage of those is my only regret. Maureen is great, she gave us some excellent tips and a guide book to use during our stay.

Amazing house from the 1930's in beautiful redwood inside. Huge screened in wrap around areas to sit and relax. Amazing home made breakfasts home made quiche, fresh fruit, next day huge Belgium waffles yum yum, and fresh blueberry pancakes lots of hot coffee...gained 5 lbs. And she loves sharing with you the best spots on island to go see and how to arrange it. I have a new best friend and will use her place often when I travel for work to Hawaii.

What a fantastic, fascinating house, and what a wonderful hostess Maureen is. Be sure to save time in the morning to chat over your delicious breakfast! If you are a lover of cats, you will also love to meet Seabiscuit the cat, and she will be happy to come visit you in your room. The location across from Carlsmith Beach Park is perfect.

We always come and stay at Maureen' s when we come to the islands. It feels like home away from home. I'm so well looked after since Maureen stays stocked up with gluten free pancakes mix.

Maureen is an amazing host and made us fell like we arrived at our best friend's place and home very quickly. You can borrow anything from cooling bag to beach towels, snorkling eqipmrnt and much more. She is also the best guide you can wish for living on Big Island since the 1980s. From quiche, fresh fruits, (blueberry) pancakes to waffles - you can get anything for breakfast. Rooms and facilities are super comfortable and clean. The swimming area and lagoon are just over the street. Is definitely the best place to stay in Hilo! Stayed here almost a week as it is so much to explore in this area: Mauna Kea, waterfalls, Volcanoe park and many more. In January we were super lucky and had a lot of sunshine each day although it is said to be the rainy part of Hawaii as well as the much greener one.

I'm so pleased others had a good experience; however, for us today this was not the case. It was hot - no air conditioning. The owner was accommodating by allowing us the option to move to a different room behind the fireplace. We considered it, and it was cooler than the upstairs room, but both the rooms behind the fire place had geckos scrambling away when we walked in. My wife could not sleep in a hot place with fear critters would be sleeping with us. Adding to the experience, she tripped over a cat laying on the walkway. This heightened my awareness of the loud barking dogs. Put all of it together, and we decided not to even spend the night knowing there was high risk we will never see a refund. Refund and I'll change stars.
