Very interesting historical site, with information provided on signboards in the exhibition hall in various languages. A tiny museum kiosk has books about Türkiye and other items. Many ruins to photograph. Once you are finished at the Mausoleum, the ancient theatre is a short but intense walk up hill a short distance away. Follow the signboards and turn left at the top of the hill. The views are magnificent!

It was constructed as a tomb for Mausolus, the Persian satrap of Caria, and his wife, Artemisia II. The structure symbolized both the wealth and power of Mausolus, as well as his legacy. It featured a large, rectangular base with a stepped pyramid structure, crowned by a massive chariot with statues of Mausolus and Artemisia. The structure's height and intricate details made it one of the tallest tombs of its time. The mausoleum was originally located on the acropolis of Halicarnassus, overlooking the harbor. The city was part of the Persian Empire during the reign of Mausolus. Despite its ruinous state today, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus remains a significant archaeological and historical site, offering insight into ancient Persian culture and architecture. Tucker price is 3euro PP

The mausoleum, built from 353 to 350 BC, ranked as one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Place to go for all those history lovers. 3 euro entrance fee.

One needs a fair bit of imagination to appreciate the ruins here. Amazing history of a Wonder of the Ancient world but now foundations only. There's a really good video in the visitor centre and models but wouldn't spend more than 30 mins here. Free WiFi on entry.

It’s sad to see one of the great wonders of the ancient world reduced to a sad, littered, and overgrown backyard. This location has so much potential to share history with visitors.

The ruins of the Mausoleum are certainly interesting to see, but I would advise not going with high expectations. There is a very interesting video that plays in an indoor room that offers a great level of detail into local history and the history of the Mausoleom. This video shouldn't be missed, especially not if you visit on a day of intense heat as watching the video offers a nice respite. The ruins themselves are certainly interesting, but if you are not majorly into architecture or ancient history, there really isn't very much to see. The most interesting pieces of the Mausoleom are no longer there. Entrance fee is very reasonable however (€3), so I definitely think this is worth a visit.

Good experience, can keep more guides/information around. When we visited it was absolutely empty. Such old artefacts are present here, little difficult to reach here and identify exact location.

A pretty insignificant little site. It’s hard to imagine it was once the site of one of the Seven Wonders of the World. That was before, this is now. I think the winder was taken apart and used by crusader knights to build their castle. The movie was too soft and I could hardly hear it. Small basic mosaic and a few broken columns laying around. If you have any interest in archaeology then get to Ephesus. It is possibly the best site in Turkey, and Luke all sites in Turkey it’s overpriced, but in this caste it’s worth the trip and the ticket price
