Was so shocked at how enormous the place was. So scenic, peaceful and beautiful. Highly recommend renting a bike if the weather is mild-cool. If it’s sunny then it’s best to get tickets to ride the buggy because there will be a LOT of walking otherwise. It’s a sacred place so please dress accordingly, and do not litter.

Worth a visit. Place is large and serene. Get the bicycles to ride around the place. Electric vehicle only bring you to the tomb and not around. While the bicycle you can travel and stop anywhere and after the tomb you can cycle around the ponds. Quite a nice pond. We were here in July it was so hot we were just too hot to ride the bikes ourselves.

very beautiful and no people which makes it even more beautiful. when you arrive at the ticket office you can rent a bike for 10k VND. i didn’t know so i walked but if i had to go back i would suggest taking the bike so you can stroll around the lake with more ease. i suggest doing the full loop around the lake since there’s a lot of hidden gems and beautiful landscapes to see. and best of all: NO PEOPLEEEE.

If you’re looking for a quiet, slightly wild spot in Hue, you should check out Gia Long’s Tomb. It doesn’t get much attention, maybe because Emperor Gia Long wasn’t very popular in his time. But honestly, it’s a place worth visiting. As the first emperor of the Nguyen dynasty, he set the tone for the tomb architecture that followed. Walking around, you’ll find a calm, solemn atmosphere with stone statues, lakes, and old structures that have a unique, timeless beauty.

Great place! We were there in the afternoon. No other tourists around. Well mantained.

The better of the 3 temples in that area, way less people and way more interesting. Hire a bike though if you've been walking all day it's a bit of a mission to get around It all

Needs for historical information on the Gia Long King's life and his role in forming today's Vietnam. Better guiding signs and posts are needed for visitors.

The first emperor of the Nguyen dynasty, and thus the originator of the infamous Nguyen surname.  The entire grounds with the tombs of the different family members as well as the shrine is extensive and a fair walk to navigate.   Some people were using bikes (you can hire them here) to get around so if you're not an avid walker, that may be the way to go. When you plan your visit, be sure to visit the main mausoleum of the emperor in addition to the shrine next to it, enjoying the natural beauty of the grounds around it, and fit in and other mausoleums in the grounds around it depending how much time you have. The structures here are grand yet quite humble without overly done architecture, details and decorations.   It's more of a peaceful with-nature grounds resting place for the emperor and his relatives that makes for a pleasant visit.
