15+ Incredible Places to Eat in Tokyo in 2025

"I ate at the Tsukiji location and the fish was very fresh, the servings large, and the staff attentive; this location gets very crowded around lunchtime so expect about a 30-minute wait." - Matthew Kepnes

This is a conveyor-belt sushi place in the Tsukiji market. The prices are quite affordable, but the quality matches the price. Personally, I felt the fish wasn’t very fresh and the overall cleanliness could be improved. You can order items that aren’t on the belt directly from the staff. The staff were welcoming and polite, which I really appreciated.

Google
I cant give more than 5 starts, but this place worth more. The sushi shef on the bar was so nice and friendly, did noce jokes, saw every little thing that we need and offered help, despite been under pressure. They have huge verity of selections, from vegetables options and cheap fish sushi, to top quality blufin shushi. Everything was delicious, and the price is decent. Just go there!

This was the best sushi conveyor belt restaurant I've been to by far! Food 🍣: 9/10⭐ All of the sushi I tried was great! The sushi I enjoyed the most was all the ones with sauce on top. Cost 💰: 6/10⭐ A single sushi may cost ¥98-¥598. Service ♥️: 9/10⭐ All of the people working there gave a loud welcome and goodbye as they entered and exited the restaurant. The one thing that doesn't make the service 10/10 is that the chefs put more of the same item that people weren't eating on the conveyor belt. Atmosphere 🏬: 7/10⭐ The atmosphere was good. The restaurant wasn't dirty, but it wasn't extremely memorable. If you want to try out a conveyor belt restaurant, here is a great place to do so.

I had a really great time at the Mawaru Sushi Zanmai in Tsukiji. Even though it’s part of a bigger chain with several branches around Tokyo, this location had a cozy, almost mom-and-pop atmosphere. The staff were friendly, the vibe was welcoming, and it felt easy to just sit down and enjoy plate after plate. The variety was impressive. Even the most affordable 198 yen plates had some surprisingly good choices. The 250 yen salmon was delicious, and the wagyu sushi along with the fatty otoro tuna were the standouts for me. The otoro especially just melted in my mouth. It’s not the very top tier of sushi in Tokyo, but for the price it’s really hard to beat. You can be satisfied spending about $20, and if you go closer to $30 you can try some of the more premium options and leave completely full. Overall it was a great experience with good quality sushi at a price that’s hard to match. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Tsukiji.

Dining at Mawaru Sushi Zanmai was truly an outstanding experience. The freshness of the fish was remarkable, and the quality of the tuna in particular was simply exceptional—the best I have ever had. Each piece was prepared with such care that it highlighted the natural flavor of the seafood at its peak. What made the visit even more memorable was the warm support of the staff, who encouraged my use of Japanese and made me feel welcome throughout the meal. A fantastic restaurant I would happily return to again and again.

We were 5 people and had to wait to be seated. While seated, the waiter explained how it works (there is a chip in the plate). We tried several dishes, some We liked and others not so much, but the food was good and seemed fresh. The price is reasonable, the staff was very friendly.

Prices vary based on the color of the plates. Menus are available at the table, so items not found on the belt can be ordered directly from the staff. Note: Few seats available, so best to arrive when they open.

Google
Conveyor belt sushi but you can also order items from the paper menu. Wait time was surprisingly fast. The whole place is just one big circle with two sushi chefs in the middle. I would say it would fit maybe 25 to 30 if tightly squeezed in together. Plates are color coded, basically the fancier the plates the more expensive the sushi is. This place seems pretty popular as I was surprised by the amount of times tourists just came in to take photos of everyone and then leave. The place is pretty noisy as well, every time the door comes Jingle pretty much all the staff yell out a welcome, yes including those just doing pictures. It was fine though, since I was sitting more at the back but I imagine those sitting right at the front doors would feel annoyed. Sushi was super fresh! I could actually taste the difference between this and the sushi back home. The pieces were a good rice to fish ratio and the chefs were pretty good about putting out each type of sushi. And you can always order specific ones if you never see them come out. The experience was worth it. We grabbed quite a few gold and purple plates

Yelp
Scallops, shrimp, tuna, and the udon were so fresh and tasty. The fish to rice ratio is perfect! Please give these super kind chefs your kind energy and come with a hungry appetite! Highly recommended. シェフたちはとても親切で、私は泣きたい。 皆さんにとって素晴らしい人生でありますように。family friendly and casual atmosphere!

Yelp
I totally understand why this spot is popular! When we arrived for dinner there was already a long wait. We had to wait around 30-45 mins before getting seated. Once seated we ordered so much! I had the best chawan mushi (savory egg custard) and tuna set from here! I forget how much eat plate was but I remember for 2 people we ate about 10 plates, 1 tuna set, and the egg custard. Our bill came out to like $60 which was not bad at all! Super chill ambiance! I would come back for sure!

Yelp
Really good conveyor belt sushi restaurant where you can also order specific sushi plates. Prices are based on the color of the plates and range from 200¥ for the more basic sushi all the way up to 900¥ for the uni. Overall I would say if you just looking for a fast way to get your sushi fix with top quality ingredients Mawaru Sushi Zanmai nestled inside the Tsukiji fish market is definitely a good spot to get your fix without breaking the bank. FYI, the wife and I ate our fill for under 7000¥, with dishes including scallop, abalone, crab miso, top quality eel, and fatty tuna, just to name a few.

Yelp
Kids are useful placeholders while the rest off your party looks for your dad because he has dementia. And when you finally find dad, you can sit right down and have the long arduous task of asking dad what does he want to eat. Unless all your mom says, just go ahead and order, I'll eat whatever. But she doesn't really eat so you spend more time finding things that your parents will like. Or so was my experience. Good thing my sister and brother-in-law were there to help order my parents's food and give me a chance to drink. Ordering is easy on the tablet. But the shisamo took a little longer than anticipated. So by the time everyone else got sashimi or sushi, my mom didn't really have anything to eat. All in all, service was great and the food was excellent. I like that there is a restroom with heated seats. Not really sure how long the wait was because that's what the nephews are for. But this is a definite yes place to return too.

Yelp
Been coming here for years pre pandemic. Still there and still good. English menu available. Be sure to order the good stuff like toro directly from the sushi chef. They don't put those regularly on the conveyor belt. And yes they have beer and sake. Just gotta ask for it!

Yelp
Titan? Kaiten sushi! (Which translates to conveyer belt sushi) The best sushi places typically closes at 2:00pm af Tsukiji market. I got there kind of late and the hole in the wall place I REALLY REALLY wanted to try was just about closing up ... so I settled with this place lol There's an English menu with pictures, so it makes ordering a breeze. If you don't speak Japanese (like me) you just point to the photo and indicate with your finger how many of the order you would like. There's a hot water spigot for you to create your own match tea to enjoy with your sushi. I ordered a tuna trio of akami, chutoro (MY FAV) and otoro, uni (sea urchin), and unagi/anago (eel). I didn't order that much because I filled my stomach with 100¥ tamagoyaki (egg omelet) prior. The tuna melts in your mouth like butter, not the best tasting tuna I've had, but still very good compared to what's available in Hawaii. The eel is always yummy! I don't recommend getting the uni. This place is a chain restaurant and definitely an upgrade in service from the last place I went to in Tsukiji market, but overall, I would say there's probably better tasting sushi out there! I will keep on fishing. Thanks for reading my reviews! Let me know what I should try next!!

Yelp
This is one of the sushi conveyor belt restaurants run by the guy who buys all the fish. The immediate freshness of the fish is apparent in the sushi you try here. We saw the place was packed and next to the marketplace so we decided to give it a try. Like other conveyor belt places in Tokyo, you have your usual free hot matcha tea and hand wipes. We tried the set with slices of seafood on it in sashimi style. Best move - the sea urchin was the creamiest that I've tried. The fish roe too was on point. The tuna and salmon was pretty solid, but not the best I've had in terms of texture. Some of the sushi on the conveyor belt had some rough tissue in them, which rendered them a little tough to chew. Overall, a fun and pleasant dining experience!

Yelp
OMG. I have pretty high end sushi needs, & in Los Angeles, have spent many pretty pennies on sushi omakase meals around town. But the toro here literally compares to nothing I have ever eaten. Fattier than I have ever seen, melt-in-your-mouthier than any other animal I have ever eaten. Walking around the Tsukiji market, I saw some sashimi blocks that looked like it was fat with pink veins, that much more fatty than anything I have seen in Los Angeles. I have no idea how I will ever eat sushi at home again.... Obviously, I recommend!

Yelp
Its a chain restaurant. To my point of view i don't think there's any bad sushi resto here in this area. . So this is a chain resto because it has the statue of this foodie Japanese guy who bought and bid for the freshest tuna which was served at all his restaurants. In this area you will see lots of his statue. . The sushi price is very reasonable to Americans. Not expensive at all to be honest. Lots of variety and big selection. . Must get what you can't get from the states. Just for example shrimp, there's like 5 kinds of shrim, some i never seen and just wanna try just for my bucket list as a foodie. Of course a uni lover must get uni from this area or resto because it can't get any fresh than that. . Overall they speak English since its touristy. They have menu with English and pics so makes thing way more easier to order. It was a great experience and tsujuki market is a must visit area for sushi lovers! Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day!

Yelp
Our first sushi experience in Japan and what an experience it was. I believe the popular sushi place in Tsukiji market is Sushizanmai and this is the conveyor belt version of the same chain. The quality of sushi is definitely better than anything I've had in the states. They have toro for only 380 yen per piece which is a steal since other restaurants are selling the same for 500 yen. We had about 9-10 plates of delicious sushi and it only cost 3600 yen! Prepare for a wait if it's near lunch time. And instead of counting plates, they have this machine that sweeps over the plates, makes a blurp sound then everything is calculated within a couple seconds. Amazing!
google avatar

Karl S.

Yelp
Decent sushi restaurant. It's a bit pricey but the fish is super fresh. The wait time can get long (~1 hour) and the food takes quite some time to come out after you order, so don't come here if you're short on time. While I'm not crazy about sushi in general, the quality of sushi here is about as good as it gets.

Yelp
First time here I've heard great things about this place and it definitely lived up to the hype. Great assortment of food and everything was delicious
google avatar

Hui S.

Yelp
Extremely fresh! No wait in line! 24 hours! Nice presentation. Very reasonable price!

Yelp
Horrible service and the sushi was not fresh like at other booths and or restaurants in the Tsukiji market. Do not get sucked into the long line and what looks to be the "popular" place!!
google avatar

R F.

Yelp
Excellent quality fish! You can't get any fresher when the restaurant by the fish market. I got the 10 piece dish to sample a little of everything and each sushi was amazing. I'm not a huge fan of uni but the uni here was and wouldn't hesitate to order it again at this restaurant.

Yelp
Great sushi in a fun location. Very good price and top quality fish in Ginza
google avatar

Yelp
Great sushi and have a fun. Belt conveyer brings sushi so you can see any sushi and ask what it is.

Wei T.

Yelp
Such an amazing sushi experience. Yes, it's a chain but that doesn't equate it to an Olive Garden. The fish from Sushizanmai is sourced from the local fish market. Everything we had was phenomenal... you can literally close your eyes and point to any plate, and you'll be satisfied. Between the two of us, we selected around 10-12 dishes and spent about $40 USD. My faves were the eel and tuna. We had to order both of these because they weren't on the conveyor belt. The tuna was inspired by a local patron... we saw hers, pointed and asked for the same.

Christopher V.

Yelp
Very reasonable prices for the freshest sushi I have ever had. This is another must visit in Japan!

Yelp
We were lucky to be there before the long queue. Great fatty tuna and broiled flounder fin #sushi. Friendly service as well. There appear to be more than a couple restaurant in the area.

Yelp
Amazing sushi breakfast!! The chive sprout nigiri sushi was incredible! Really affordable and so fresh. Their miso soup is really delicious too, to finish out the meal. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area early in the AM for the tsukiji fish market! My meal here was flawless, and the chef was sweet and personable. :)

Bashir M.

Yelp
Great restaurant for sushi. Located in the Tsukiji fish market, you can be sure you'll enjoy a fresh meal!

Sam Z.

Yelp
Fresh tuna was the best I ever had! I shared the magurozanmai special with a friend and it was delicious, the medium fatty toro was my favorite. Prompt and polite service, delicious fish, we left happy.

Gil K.

Yelp
recommended by a friend, it was great. came for lunch and the wait was about 20 minutes. it's a pretty small place, maybe 30 seats? the sushimen do custom orders and also there is a sushi belt, so there is a good balance of random surprises as well as getting what you want. 1600 yen for the sushi platter and man it was some of the best stuff i've ever had. great place, recommend it.
