Today I was given a completely burned banana bread by the lady with black hair. It was entirely black and clearly inedible. I’m sure the lady expected me to take it away without checking, but when I opened it, I was shocked by how badly it was burnt. Based on scientific studies, consuming burned food regularly may increase the risk of cancer due to harmful compounds formed during burning. This is not just about taste – it’s a matter of health. She did offer me a replacement, but I declined. Instead, I told her directly: Please be more careful, not for me, but to protect other customers from being served food that could be harmful. This is not acceptable, and I hope the management takes this seriously.

Love the people there! Coffee is a bless 🙏

Google
Good coffee but the management is all over the place. The owner fired three genuine good employees over the last 2 months, only at this max and son’s location. Unbelievable staff turn around.

Google
pretty good coffee here. staff have been friendly, service has been good. and it's also kind of "away" from the crowd - making it a good spot for a quick quiet catch up with mates

This is a really great little place. The coffee is always good and the staff are great. They always remember my name which makes me feel like a celebrity despite being a lowly analyst with the government. Highly recommended!

Excellent coffee: 10/10 (coming from an east coast coffee snob). Very friendly service. Plenty of seating if you need to have a quick meeting.

The lady wearing black was rude to me. Customers deserve respect, this experience was truly disappointing !!!

Google
Good coffee. Really good service. I was in Perth for a week and by the second day they knew my order and asked for my name. They have a great selection of treats and lunch wraps. The coffee is not bad as well. I order a ristretto and it was served with chilled sparkling water. The blend didn’t have as many sweet tones as I like but overall it was really good. I would definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
I love Max & Sons. Okay, I'm maybe a little biased because I'm also in love with the barista there but seriously - this place is great! I'm a fan of black coffee myself because I can't drink milk but if the feeling gets me and I fancy a milky drink the soy here is great too. The nice thing about the black coffees is that they also do batch brew - usually 2 pots at a time with 2 different coffees on offer. They change their coffees on offer for this often too. I've had coffee from Loaded, Mecca, Twin Peaks, Steampunk(UK) just to name a few. The food here is also really great. For the coeliac a out there, there is a dedicated "raw" fridge. Gluten free, dairy free and vegan. Very exciting for me!! They also have bagels, sandwiches, cakes and pastries on offer. The donuts drive me wild! Never had one myself but they smell out of this world. By a local French baker. For those winter mornings they've also recently acquired some gas heaters outside to keep you cosy. I love it.

Yelp
Terrible counter service. Quick service place (it's adjacent to a train station) with a "have-a-chat" server. One of those servers that interrupts you mid order to be 'helpful' rather than take a whole order and clarify later. Generic "made-somewhere-else-slightly-stale" baked goods, all sold at "we-pretend-this-is-artisan" prices. This place would last maybe a minute or two in Mel/Syd/Can with this kind of service; for yourself a favour, find a cheap place and have their stuff instead - it'll actually be the same quality, cheaper and at least they're honest about what they are. Some people don't like 'hipster' places, but if you go here, you'll experience the more common "we-wish-we-were-hipster-and-charge-for-it-but-don't-understand-what-it-actually-takes" corner cut version. Avoid.

Yelp
Max and Sons is a great, upbeat café which has a lovely fresh vibe. Even early in the a.m. the place is buzzing with activity. I often call in for my morning macchiato and the baristas are cheerful and welcoming and more importantly, know how to make a delicious, creamy cup of coffee. In addition, they do get an early delivery of the legendary doughnuts from Top Dup and also fresh pastries from La Galette. Fabulous coffee and your favourite doughnut, what more can you ask for? There are also raw treats and savoury items for you to choose from. At present they are serving two delicious looking salads, one is a fresh slaw and the other is a scrumptious looking one with a base of zucchini noodles. Will definitely be trying these in the very near future. The space is open and breezy and there is plenty of seating outside if you wish to dine in. A truly winning touch is the mini terrarium on every table complete with flourishing succulent! The service is always quick and efficient making Max and Sons an excellent choice on busy mornings when you just need to grab your cup and go!

Yelp
The barista spilled my cappuccino while putting the lid on and he totally ignored what happens and continue to give me the spilled coffee. I asked him if i could just get another because the spill disturbed the foam of the cappuccino, and again, ignored my request and added more milk to my cappuccino and gave it to me. The taste of the coffee wasn't even the that good either. The milk is very watery and lack espresso richness to it.

Yelp
From the successful mother and son duo behind Mo Espresso, comes newly opened Max + Sons nestled into the 140 William St complex (Globe and Railway Lane). It presents a slick interior with cement floors, white tiles display and wood panelling, it's a Scandinavian dream. It makes waking up to a creamy coffee much easier. There is 7 outdoor tables with cute little succulent plants decorating each. There is no need for aircon as there is a great breeze passage and good people watching opportunities. The focus here is the coffee and the freshly made donuts- dark chocolate and beetroot anyone? I'll definitely be back for that! There is also a range of panini and salad light lunch options and bakes. This place is no doubt going to be a huge success with a steady stream of office workers following in.

Yelp
In need of a post-lunch coffee after a big meal at East Village across the way, I had been wanting to try this new coffee shop out. They focus largely on coffee, with just a few sandwiches, bagels and raw dessert items available for breakfast and lunch. Some salad options added to the menu would be welcomed by me. Staff were friendly and really helpful while ordering. They'll do almost any kind of coffee you're after. I fancied a filter coffee. They have two at the back of the counter at all times. They work on an honour system, so you just drop your $2.50 in the cup and grab your own. They usually have two varieties to choose from.

Yelp
In a highly competitive cafe market; Max & Sons holds its own, firstly it's got a prime location in the 140 lane way; and they have chosen simple clean decor for the cutout. The coffee is good, I like my coffee a little on the strong side and they deliver that here so they get full marks; and they have I'd say an above average selection of food on offer for a coffee shop, though they are not aiming to be a full cafe i.e. full meals. Only minor concern is that the staff have made me feel rushed when I was looking at the food; and sometimes I really don't know what I am after; but I am sure this is rare.

Yelp
UPDATE: After my first review, I received a message from the manager asking me to give them another shot - well, today was that day. To be fair, I did not have to wait to be served this time and the quality of the coffee itself has improved; however, the menu leaves much to be desired unless you're just after some raw food for your #fitspo Instagram and yet again, their definition of 'large' is 4/5 of a 12oz cup, which is just unacceptable when you're charging Perth coffee prices. I really wanted to like this place, because it is so conveniently located, but it's just not good.

Yelp
Wow. Just... wow. When I was wandering around the city on a day off, I meandered down a little alleyway near Forever New and The Coffee Club and stumbled upon Max And Sons. It's a tiny little coffee place: only a couple of tables and a bench, a small cake cabinet and a till. I was about to order the staple flat white when I saw they had a coffee menu with multiple blend options, depending on how you drink your coffee. The barista described the citrus blend as "a cool breeze in your mouth". Of course, I had to try it :) When he brought my coffee out, the crema was so thick I almost thought I'd had milk added, but no - it was just a thick layer of liquid gold. Lo and behold, the first sip ended with... what could only be described as a cool breeze in my mouth!! Crazy! Awesomely friendly baristas who obviously know their stuff. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is in the heart in the city and they serve up some pretty good coffee. The iced chocolate my boyfriend got wasn't choclatey enough which is a common first world problem in his life. The atmosphere is nice and it's a great spot for a coffee shop. The topdup donuts are a bit steep at $6 but I'm guessing they're sold for that anywhere. #goodfoodofperth

Yelp
If you are in the city and in great need of some caffeine hit along with something to eat, this place just might have exactly what you are after... Housed right opposite Ribs and Burgers and near Jamie's Italian come this wonderful little joint with great tasting coffee and an array of goodies whether you're after something sweet or savoury! They have bagels, croissants, donuts by Top Dup, raw treats, baguette sandwiches, bagel sandwiches so many choices great for on the go or to enjoy on site.. The atmosphere is chilled and the look of the place is stylish with awesome light fittings, light wood furniture and touches of white make this place very open, inviting and friendly.. Check this place out, you will be greeted by friendly staff and your belly will not be disappointed

Yelp
Max + Sons is a cosy cafe to chill out, grab a coffee, catch up on some work and grab a bite to eat while allowing you to watch the world go by. It's also nice to see friendly, enthusiastic staff that are really passionate about quality roasted coffee beans and love making the liquid caramel goodness and are more than happy to share their knowledge. Along with ensuring quality cafe food is served to the masses in a space that will feel like home in no time at all. And hey they are one of a handful of cafes that stock topd donuts and man that's a +++ in my books! =D

Yelp
This was a great little find whilst strolling through Perth CBD today. I wanted to have a coffee and a spot of people watching before my next appointment. It is in a great location, down a quirky lane. The coffee I ordered was a flat white, which cost $4. I found the wait staff very friendly and fast. I definitely recommend it for delicious coffee! The food looked yummy too

Yelp
Decided to try this place after seeing it a few times, little quirky place with great service! I can't get over the decor and the look of it, their bagel is amazing too but that's probably the only good things I can say about it, it was very pricy and the coffee was very weak which is disappointing cause every cafe needs to be able to make good coffee! I certainly won't be running back to give it another cracking but certainly won't be avoiding it! Hopefully the next time I go it changes my point of view
