Holding a Michelin Star, we were expecting Maximo to be better than it was. It was one of the more expensive meals we had in CDMX, and we'd been excited thanks to all the hype online. While the food was good, the service was certainly lacking. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time, and despite ordering a la carte options quickly, it took what felt like forever for our food and drinks to arrive. Appetizers were brought out as they were ready, which left some of us without appetizers while others ate theirs so they didn't go cold. It wasn't as big of a deal for the appetizers as it was for our entrees though, and despite waiting over 30 minutes between apps and entrees, and we were all surprised when the entrees were delivered one at a time with multiple minutes in between. With only four of us in our group, we thought the timing of things was really disappointing, along with the length of the meal, which took over two and a half hours. Despite the food being good, it was overshadowed by the poor service and timing, and overall, Maximo felt like a miss and for the high cost. We wouldn't go back again.
