MAXX by Steigenberger Vienna, a Design Boutique Hotel Vienna, Austria

"Opened in September 2013, Falkensteiner Hotel Wien Margareten is just 100 metres from the Margaretengürtel Underground Station and 3 stops from Vienna’s city centre. Designed by famous architect Matteo Thun, it offers free WiFi, a sauna, and a steam bath. The air-conditioned rooms at the Falkensteiner Margareten are furnished in a modern Biedermeier style and come with a flat-screen cable TV, a minibar, and a bathroom. The restaurant serves Viennese classics, Austrian cuisine, and Mediterranean dishes. Drinks and snacks are available at the bar. The daily breakfast buffet includes many regional products. A wide range of shops and restaurants is just steps away from the hotel. The Naschmarkt open-air market is 2 underground stops away, and Schönbrunn Palace is 3 stops away." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

The location is good, well connected via tram 18 with the main train station and U4 with the center. Our room was big (35m2) and clean, with a functional fridge and TV that you can cast from the phone. However, please note that in the first two room categories (SUD, SPD+), the windows cannot be opened at all, not even tilted. We had no fresh air at all, which was a very clear shortcoming for us, and could hear the air conditioning all night long. This was not mentioned when we booked, and we would have booked elsewhere if we had known. It was not possible to change to another room on site due to lack of availability. The request made during the booking process on Booking.com to get two single beds was not fulfilled. The breakfast room was not worthy of a 4* hotel. The tables were old and unattractive, and the upholstery on the chairs was dirty and damaged. Breakfast itself was fine and with good variety, but we've definitely had better elsewhere. The fitness room is equipped with very basic machines and 2 exercise mats (not very suitable for yoga), which could be better but was still nice to have. The rooftop seems nice, though it was too cold for us to enjoy it. Check out at 12 was pleasant.

Excellent stay in Vienna! Would highly recommend this lovely hotel if visiting, 5 min walk from Margaretengurtel metro station and tram station. Convenient as slightly outside the main part of Vienna, but very close and easy to get into city centre. Lots of cafes nearby to get breakfast, and also very easy to get the tram to Vienna Central Station. Booked via booking.com and got free upgrade - room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Nice bar downstairs. Would recommend staying here if looking for somewhere out of the main city centre.

We only spent one night on New Year's Eve before our flight. The hotel is well located, easily accessible, and well connected to the rest of the city and train stations. As someone who has worked in the hotel industry for 15 years, I must say it has more potential than it currently realizes. Our room had damage that was very poorly repaired, and this definitely detracts from the overall experience. Furthermore, our room had excellent natural light that we couldn't enjoy because it seemed like a curtain was missing. We were on the first floor, and if we opened the blackout curtain, we completely lost our privacy. I hope they can improve these details, as the price can seem a bit excessive if this is what you get.

We stayed at Maxx Vienna from 11 to 15 October 2025 and had a truly enjoyable experience. The location was excellent — close to the U-Bahn, with cafés and shops within walking distance, yet quiet enough for a relaxing stay. The staff were incredibly accommodating and professional throughout my visit. I especially want to thank Angelina and team from the front desk, who handled my last-minute request to extend my stay with such kindness and efficiency. It made a world of difference after a small mix-up on my end! The room was spacious (in all seriousness), spotless, and thoughtfully designed. The separate blankets were a nice touch — no “blanket fights” during the night! The overall vibe of the hotel was modern yet cozy, making it feel like a comfortable home base while exploring Vienna. I’d definitely stay here again the next time I’m in the city. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a clean, well-located, and genuinely welcoming hotel in Vienna.

I love my stays at this hotel. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. Huge shoutout to Vero Arthur and Galileo for making every morning special at the restaurant Galileo, the chef, is a true rockstar - his passion for food is infectious and his humor always puts a smile on my face! Vero, you're a constant ray of sunshine with that perpetual smile, love it! And Arthur, you're the sweetest, most attentive guy around, always makin' sure I'm good with that adorable smile 😊. Thanks for makin' every breakfast feel like a special occasion, guys!

So close to the U4, a BILLA right outside if you need anything. Nothing was too much for the staff, all so kind and caring. Free access to the Finnish Sauna and Steam for every guest was amazing! Bar was well stocked and staff very kind. They even gave us a chocolate Santa outside our door on the last day - if you are coming to Vienna and don't mind a 10-15 journey on the underground DEFINITELY stay at MAXX

The staff at this hotel are wonderful! Everyone is so helpful and friendly! The gentleman who is nicknamed Homie went above and beyond for us. The breakfast buffet is well-appointed. It even has an omelette station! There are a lot of great restaurants nearby, and a grocery store across the street. The metro is very close by, and it’s only a couple of stops to get to the city center. Overall, I’d highly recommend this hotel!

This is my third stay here, and I’ve really enjoyed it each time. The hotel is very nice overall, but what I love most are the sauna and the rooftop terrace — perfect spots to unwind after a busy day. A great place to relax, and I can definitely recommend it!
