Giving this place one star is extremely generous they deserve negative stars! We’ve been customers of Maxx Auctions for nearly a decade and have spent tens of thousands of dollars here, referring many friends and family over the years. Subsequently, every single one of them has had a horrible experience and we feel awful for it. Unfortunately, our recent experience was most unacceptable.
My father, a long-time loyal customer, was sent to pick up two dressers I purchased. Despite doing us a favour, staff refused to release the items to him and instead charged him $150 over an unresolved, small balance on his account. There was no flexibility, no willingness to listen, and no attempt to resolve the situation reasonably. The manager was the worst one we have ever encountered, dismissive, unprofessional, and unwilling to resolve a simple issue, easily the worst customer service we’ve experienced anywhere. I feel so awful that I put my father through this today and I want to caution everyone!
Customer service has consistently felt rigid and unsympathetic, and policies seem to be enforced without any consideration for loyal customers. On top of that, the 20% buyer’s premium makes purchases far less worthwhile than they used to be.
After many disappointing experiences, we will not be returning. For anyone considering auction shopping in the area, we’ve had far better experiences with Bid416, which has been organized, professional, and much more customer-focused.
UPDATE!!! This place is unbelievable! After posting my review, I received an email from Maxx Liquidation Marketplace stating they are “unable to conduct business” with me and telling me not to visit their location at 200 Bartor Road. Instead of addressing my concerns or trying to resolve the issue, they chose to ban me as a customer. Based on my experience, this appears to be how negative feedback is handled. I’m sharing this so others can make an informed decision. Not that I planned to ever go back to that horrible place again.
