May Shan Hotel

After staying here for the 6th time, I thought it was time I posted a review. The Mayshan is a really friendly and clean hotel ideally positioned right by Sule Paya. The staff are very helpful and the rooms all have air con, en suite bathrooms and 24 hour electricity. Breakfast is included in the bargain price of $30 a night for a double room. It is walking distance from Scott market, Yangon train station, 19th street nightlife and the jetty for boats to Dalah and the Yangon river buses. Also, next door is a 24 hour mini market and an excellent Indian restaurant. It also has very good WiFi in the rooms. Overall, a great place to stay.

I stayed here numerous times when i visited Burma (Myanmar). The location is unbeatable, right near Sule Pagoda and downtown Rangoon (Yangon). The staff are fantastic and took me out for a night for food and music. Once Myanmar opens its borders i will come back here again. Been 10 years since last stay. Really great memories of Myanmar. Just spent another 3 nights at The May Shan - the 7th time I've stayed there. It's still my first choice in Yangon. Clean, affordable and nice friendly and helpful staff. Ideally positioned in Downtown and particularly good if you take the bus from either the Airport or Aung Mingalar bus station because the bus stops right outside the Hotel. Plenty of places to eat nearby and within walking distance of all the things of interest in the Downtown area. Highly recommended.

Huge recommend especially to backpackers and Chinese visitors.||Soooooooooooo close to Sule Pagoda that I missed it at first. Being in the heart of Yangon means you can walk to possibly everywhere in this area. Less than 20min walk to center station or Aung San Market.||Friendly Chinese owner with Furniture of the style of the 90s like I was visiting my aunt.||The breakfast is served with dishes including eggs, breads and fruits like a traditional home breakfast.||At this price, I'll choose it instead of even Shangri-la as long as I am travelling to Yangon alone.

This small hotel is located next to the Sule Pagoda, the city center of Yangon.||From this place we calk to the local shopping area, Chinatown and local market.||All great food vendor and restaurant is in walking distance.||Room rate is a bit high but it is clean and convenience to walk around and experience local market. ||Staff is very friendly and helpful. ||Try restaurant next door(Golden Land)- serve a great Indian food- very popular among local.

An affordable hotel, easily accessible by local transports. I love it as May Shan is very near to the touristy sites like within walking distance to Sule Pagoda and my favorite biryani rice, Nilar Restaurant, the new Sule Mall and then, Bogyoke Market is very nearby too. A clean hotel with a small sized restaurant. The hotel staff- helpful, courteous and friendly.

A very pleasant surprise in the heart of downtown Yangon. Just steps away from Sule Paya, a few blocks away from the market, walking distance to the train station. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff very accommodating.

This hotel is not a luxury hotel but the location is in a very good place. There are shops & markets which is nearby this hotel.||||The rooms are average but it is enough for a middle class family. The prices range will be between US$45 - US$70 per room. There will be free internet at the reception for the hotel guests only.There will be 7 floor in this hotel.||||There will be no locker & fridge in the room. There will be some rooms with 3 beds & some with 2 beds. The rooms are not so big but for those with a little luggage should be sufficient. ||||There will be a small kitchen for breakfast at the ground floor where maximum 10 people can be seated at one time.||||Worth to stay here for short period for those who would like travel on limited budget.
