"Go to Placencia, Belize. Eat at this bistro. The Maya Beach Hotel's bistro is hands down one of the best restaurants in Belize—in fact, it's been named Belize 's restaurant of the year not once but twice. The food is a French spin on traditional Belizean fare, and the outdoor seating area is right on the beach, just steps from the Caribbean Sea. Order the coconut shrimp (served with a spicy mango sauce) and the roasted pumpkin-coconut-green chili soup to start, and lobster grilled cheese (with cheddar, brie, and brunoise) or layered veggies (roasted potatoes, onions, and plantains with a tomato vinaigrette and jalapeño-tofu aioli) for a main course."

"John and Ellen left their home countries ( Australia and the United States) to build a life in Belize andopen a restaurant and hotel, thus giving them the time to connect with people in a meaningful way. Whether their passion for life makes the food at the Maya Beach Hotel Bistro so good, or whether John’s talent is simply deserving of a Michelin rating he might never receive, I don’t know. I do know that I can’t get the craving for their garlic and goat cheese appetizer out of my head, I can still close my eyes and taste the complex flavors of the lamb and feta salad that I enjoyed, and I have never tasted anythinglike John’s peanut butter ice cream pie. Other dinner standouts include leek flan with grilled conch, and shrimp French toast. Maya Beach Hotel Bistro is open to hotel guests and the public for three meals a day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m."

Delicious food and drinks, overlooking the beach. Generous wine list, great staff. My husband's half pound lobster tail was amazing. I had the Mojo Chicken which was very well cooked, moist, and large portion (sauce and cucumbers were too acidic for me, but I'm sensitive to that, knew it, and ordered it anyway). Pro tip, make a reservation. We will be back!

We had stayed on site approximately 15 yrs ago and decided to head to the bistro again for dinner while in the area to see if our experience was as amazing as we remembered. Menu had a lot of great options but both my hubby and I opted for fish entrees, mine being the coconut nut crusted fillet and my husband being a curry potato dish. While we waited for our mains we ordered drinks, the plantain cheese balls and enjoyed the complementary bread. The bread was delicious and fresh and the cheese balls were the perfect amount of spicy. Our mains were absolutely delicious and the portions were very substantial. The fish tonight was snook which was freshly caught from the sea, probably one of the best meals I have had while travelling through Belize. They definitely lived up to our memories, so glad we came back.

Went for my partner's birthday, the food was awesome. Ordered the lobster dinner, lobster sandwich, pork with cacao (very moist) and children's fish and ships. Lobster was delicious not over cooked, sandiwhc was good with loads of lobster bits.

Stopped there for lunch. Barely 3 tables occupied so we got to choose table overlooking the beach. Coconut shrimps, blackened seafood and fish and chips arrived shortly and were very good.

Went here as our hotel restaurant had disappointed us during multiple instances. The service at Maya Beach Hotel Bistro was impeccable, the staff was super attentive and regularly checked in with us. The food was delicious and with Happy Hour prices on appetizers, it was quite a cheap meal for this area. Location is right on the beach but with less flies and sandfleas than the hotel we stayed at.

We ate here a couple times as it was right in the hotel. The food was alright, definitely a good variety of options! Nothing was amazing, but none of it was bad by any means! We only ate dinner a few times so I can’t speak for the breakfast menu. The view is beautiful and it’s a pleasant and quiet atmosphere. We ate the conch ceviche, pork, pork, pork burger, the stuffed squid, chips and salsa, and the fish and chips throughout or multiple visits. It was convenient, and not too expensive. It would be a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise!

You can’t get any closer to eating on the beach. Staff was extremely friendly and food was good. Overall, I would recommend it because the location is absolutely perfect.

So good!! The atmosphere and location are perfect. All of the food was excellent. Loved the belize breakfast with fry jack, beans, eggs and a bit of fresh fruit. Fresh juice and fresh fruit bowls were great. Prices seemed very reasonable for the fresh, quality and quantity of food we got.
