At $35 a night, I expected more. Not even a towel included (you have to pay extra). Basic breakfast; pancakes or eggs. This is typically included for free in most hostels, even at 1/3 of the price. Female dorm was very hot and humid, with tiny windows. The bathroom is attached and so all the humidity stays inside. Lockers are metal and very noisy in the morning when people are packing. Also the curtains are super noisy. I didn’t sleep well in this hostel, it was some of the worst sleep in I had in months. Staff were nice, showers were good, and the mattress was comfortable. You can find way better hostels for half the price here in Antigua.

Just such an awesome place to stay! Staff are fantastic, breakfast is delicious, whole place is so clean, incl a great kitchen. Bar and lounge areas make it a comfortable place to relax. Stayed for several nights in diff rooms incl in a dorm, their private room with shared bathroom and their nicest double with private bathroom All Great and Great value. 100% recommend ❤️

I had an incredible recent stay at Maya Papaya during my time in Antigua. The hostel was top notch, with lots of quiet little seating areas to enjoy throughout the property. I stayed in the women's dorm, and found it incredibly clean, with very comfortable beds. It was also nice to have a bathroom adjoining the room, with multiple stalls and great storage. The breakfast each morning was fantastic, and the staff were all incredibly kind and helpful. I would absolutely recommend a stay at Maya Papaya as a solo traveler!

This was my first time staying in a hostel and let me just say - WOW! Everything about this place blew me away, the grounds were beautiful with plants, open seating areas, and an area with darts, pool table, and weights to work out. The shared dorm was very clean, each person had their own locker, light, and outlet to charge. They even come in to made the bed each day. The shared bathroom had 4 sinks, 4 stalls, and 6 showers. There was always one open when I needed it. The breakfast that is served is also top notch and you can choose between a traditional breakfast, pancakes, or granola. The daily happy hour was a great time with nightly cocktail specials to keep things different throughout the week. The location of this hostel is also very nice, located just 2 blocks from the main church. It takes about 8 minutes to walk to the Central Park, we never felt far away from anything here. Overall this was one of my favorite places I have stayed. We liked it so much that we booked a private queen room when we returned to Antigua on the last day of our trip. I highly recommend staying here if you’re coming to Antigua!

Earns its place as highest awarded hostel in Central America. Rooms and facilities are spotless, even the shared bathroom looks like something out of a design show. The staff are very friendly and the bar area is such a nice spot to chill. The included breakfast is such a nice touch, the pancakes and granola bowl were so good!

Nice hostel with great showers!!! As the bar and everythingh is outside, there is a bit of a lack of socializing during rainy season. The Acatenango tour they proposed to me was much more expensive than the other ones I didn't do this one.

The whole hostel was really clean and the bathroom was always very very clean. The beds were very comfortable and the lockers were really big to fit everything inside perfectly. The staff is really nice and Christhian, Héctor and Angel did a great job at the bar and reception. The gym was more than enough for doing my daily workout, it had a fan on the ceiling too so it was never too hot. The included breakfast was delicious!

Having travelled SE Asia, this was by far one of the best hostels we have stayed in. The location is perfect, within walking distance of all key places in Antigua. The bedrooms are awesome. We had a simple double room for the first night and then the bigger room for the remainder (they were sold out on it for the complete time we stayed). The basic room was clean and had a bathroom near it. The larger double was excellent and we even had our room cleaned with fresh towels. The communal toilets and showers are some of the best we had in Guatemala, as well as the social spaces. Couldn’t recommend more!
