We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and overall, the experience was very disappointing. The only positives: the air conditioning worked, and the restaurant was excellent — with amazing staff and very generous portions. Honestly, my stars go only to the restaurant staff. Everything else needs serious improvement, from the reception to the rest of the hotel: • Constant presence of lizard droppings in the room (on the beds, in the shower), with no prior warning. We had to cover all our belongings with sheets — unacceptable. • Questionable cleanliness. • Drinking water is charged, even though it should be included and replenished daily as in most hotels. • The pool water is clearly not changed or properly maintained. • There was also a power and water outage, and the hotel gave no explanation or compensation — only vague answers, leaving guests frustrated. In summary, there were far more negatives than positives. I left disappointed and I do not recommend this hotel.

Pros - they upgraded my room from a jungle to ocean view upon checking in, they are extremely quick to respond via WhatsApp, the front desk (Coco) was very helpful on getting to places and what's worth walking vs a taxi, the Spa worked out a great deal for 1 hour massage due to low season, the Servers at the pool restaurant were great. The pool, when cleaned, was nice. ||Cons - The smell upon check in was horrid, smelt of rotten eggs from the sargassum, in fact the entire resort smelt of it and the beach was not accessible due to the sargassum (they don't clean it up here, they let it rot on the beach), the room was nice but if you prefer a VERY cold room, this isn't it. The small A/C unit plus the fan kept the room around 70 even though the A/C said 66. The Spa/massage rooms do not have A/C only a fan, so you sweat a bit throughout the massage. The only way to communicate with the front desk is via WhatsApp. The one time I asked the front desk to get into town, they told me to walk and the walk was 20 minutes and not safe. It's VERY EXPENSIVE to get a taxi here in Tulum as Uber isn't allowed. The 10 min from dinner back was $15 USD. They allow pets at this place and two were just running wild, one was a Doodle Mix and one was a Rott. One jumped in the pool and no one stopped them or did anything & I felt it was gross. Upon check out, they make you wait for someone to look at your room to ensure nothing was used from the fridge until they let you leave, so allow time for that. The water did stop working for 2 hours one day, not sure if that happens here often or not.||Overall, I was there 2 nights and it was OK. I'd suggest staying closer in the Hotel Zone and skipping this place, preferably one without dogs running wild, a cleaner beach and nicer pool.

We were lucky that we managed to get 3 great days/nights of weather in September, but other than beautiful weather, not much good to report. We turned up at 2:50pm for a 3pm check in and told we would have to wait an hour. We had our booking confirmation at 11am that morning, so the desk staff response that you only just booked was invalid! And IMO, rude considering the way she delivered the statement! Then We were given the wrong room! A twin not a queen, as per the booking/reservation! At this point, I was too hot and sweaty to care! Then for three days we had power cuts! How a place like this does not have a backup generator, astounds me! Now usually you can blame it on the weather! But we had 4 beautiful days and 3 calm nights. The restaurant has great staff, but I’ve seen better soup kitchens in hostels for the homeless. All in, not on my list to return ever. But horses for course and different strokes for different folks. PS: An issue that is super important to bring up was the unhealthy state of the private jacuzzi/pool. It clearly had been urinated in many times, and the water actually stung my chaffing on my legs! This reaction did not happen in the swimming pool, so I knew there was an issue with the private pool/jacuzzi

I really enjoyed my stay the Maya hotel. The pool was clean, there were a lot of seaweed in September but the view was still magical. Don’t hesitate to rent bikes because it’s a little far from the big Tulum nightlife and restaurants, but you will enjoy if you want something calmer. The spa is very good and the breakfasts are excellent. Pedro, the waiter, is a wonderful host and will make your stay even nicer with his smile and good recommendations of the city. You never feel rushed to consume something during the day around the pool with Pedro. You might get a little lizard in your room when it rains, that’s the only downside but I told the reception and they came to remove it.

We spent 4 nights at Maya. Overall our experience was good. The place is very nice. Our room was beautiful and clean. The swimming pool had a perfect temperature. There are a few things you need to have in mind. The included breakfast is very small and you will therefore end up having to pay if you want a real breakfast. If you want to walk around, you will either need to use bikes or your car. You can walk but it’s not easy in the hot weather!

Welcome to the mosquito nest! There’s many things hotels can do to take care of a mosquito infestation: mosquito nets, free spray for guests, burning coconut husks, the staff at Maya Tulum prefer to smile and shake their heads, citing recent rain and the jungle as unstoppable. We arrive and were bit 10+ times on the way to our room. But we weren’t safe inside either! Thatch roofs provide little bug defense and we got bit another 10 times during our nap. I’m allergic to mosquitoes. If I get bit enough times I can have my eyes swell shut. When I informed the staff of this they gave me that same smile, head shake, lame explanation, and directions to the pharmacy to buy my own defenses. Changing to a room with a real roof was apparently impossible. But thats not all! Our private hot tub was not heated and disgusting. They only cleaned the green slime when we asked them to do so — not that it mattered. We werent going swimming in that mosquito pit anyway. The hotel cant control the ocean, but you should probably also know that this section stinks like nothing I’ve ever smelled before and is an unappetizing red-brown color atypical of the carribean. We had no hot water for two hours after we arrived, we also had to request for it to be turned on. When the attendant came to fix it he turned on all the sinks and one didnt drain but he didnt seem to mind that. The staff also tried to charge us the maximum amount for everything. We were quoted at $200+ for a trip to Chicen Itza you can find on booking for <$50. Prices from the minibar are astronomical compared to the 7/11 down the street. They also quoted us higher prices for taxis than the drivers themselves. The restaurant is only tacos with very limited options and everytime you eat there the staff quietly insists on 15-20% tip. For every meal and drink. Even though its the only place to eat in the area. We felt like captives. Juices are 90% water and not very tasty. Coffee is instant and disgusting. Every towel, sheet, and pillow case has some permanent stain (probably blood from mosquitoes) on it indicating they dont replace them or clean them properly. Very obvious this hotel cares more about cutting costs and profit margins than its guests having a relaxing and well-taken-care of experience. We got our room for 80% off on booking and still felt robbed. Cant believe anyone would pay full price for this pit.

We had a wonderful time here. Our room was gorgeous, the two restaurants offered both a mix of 'street' and more elegant fare....the hamburgers at the 'Pool Bar' were to die for, absolutely among the best I've ever had. The staff was friendly, helpful and courteous. What more can I say than we plan to return? A very restful stay, with a couple of lovely tours in between. Very satisfied.

Me and Friends spent 1 night in Tulum at the Maya Tulum by G Hotels , and everything is different from what the Instagram Page looks like. Checking in , the people at the front desk were nice, they provided us fresh beverages, the Bell boy worked hard to carry our luggage to our rooms, but when getting to the rooms is where it went downhill, |- walking into the rooms , there’s A/C in the room but noticed our bathroom window only has a screen so all the cold air was going outside.|- there is a lack of lighting in the room, it was hard for the girls to get ready because of how dimmed the lighting was.|- our room had Ant’s in it as well, shower had rust in them.|- Pool they had was not blue like in the Instagram post. Bartenders who served at the pool were nice.||The 2 stars is only for the nice staff that helped us.|I hope they renovate this hotel one day.
